Manila Metropolitan Cathedral, the ecclesiastical seat of the Archdiocese of Manila.
Plaza Roma, Intramuros, Manila, Philippines
The main façade of the Cathedral is graced by statues of saints sculpted in Roman travertine stone, originally made of molave wood in the old cathedral.
An imposing rose-glass window, set above the main portal, accentuates the Cathedral's façade, typical of Romanesque revival architecture.
A "Caleza" or a horse-drawn wooden buggy still roams the old streets of Intramuros. Some streets still retain the cobble stone materials it was made of in the 15th century. (Sigma 10-20mm wide angle)
Inside the walls, instead of historical buildings and instructive plaques, there's more city. Many blocks of banks and shacks and 7-11's and such...
Scene from the play staged at Plaza San Ignacio in Intramuros. The play was actually pretty good. It outlined the history of the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era.

The Aduana was the Customs House where goods coming from abroad were declared. It was built in 1823 after a plan drawn by Spanish engineer Tomas Cortes. The earthquake of 1863 reduced it to rubble. Upon its reconstruction in 1876, it housed the Intendencia General de Hacienda (Central Administration), the Treasury, as well as the new Casa de Moneda (Mint). It was damaged by Japanese bombs in 1941 and American Artillery in 1945.
After the war, it served as the offices of the old Central Bank of the Philippines, the National Treasury and the Commission on Elections. It was abandoned after a fire destroyed the building in 1979. In 1998, work began for its restoration to house the Records Management and Archives Office (RMAO), more popularly known as the National Archives.
