This crown was commissioned to me by the 2006 GMP Hermana Mayor Carrie Bautista, for the use of the la Festejada of the GMP of intramuros. It is .925 Silver guit in 22k, 60pcs of oval cut Aquamarine and 12 brillant cut crystal de Roca embelished on it. garlands of pearls, crystal de roca pendants as well as baguet cut rosettes hung on its 6 columque.
Intramuros is the walled City of Manila during the Spanish colonization of the Philippines. Intramuros is made up of two Latin words: "intra" meaning within and "muros" meaning walls. It is claimed that the name Manila was derived from the word "Nilad" which is a type of Mangrove that bore white waxy flowers. The walled city was built by the Spanish to protect itself from attacks during its regime in the Philippines.
The building shown in the photo is Illustrado, a very popular restaurant situated in a preserved edifice with the walls.

Intramuros (Latin, "within the walls") is the oldest district and historic core of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Also called the Walled City, it was the original city of Manila and was the seat of government when the Philippines was a component realm of the Spanish Empire.
The construction of Intramuros started in 1571 and covers an area of about 160 acres.
Only the Spanish elite and Mestizos (mixed race) were permitted to live inside Intramuros, where at night the city gates were locked down. The natives and Chinese were not permitted to live inside the walled fortress and were resigned to live outside the great walls of Intramuros.
During World War II, Intramuros was used by the Japanese as their garrison and prison. It was severely damaged, along with most parts of Manila, during the Allied bombings to liberate the city from Japanese occupation. The US Administration filled the moat in to prevent the onset of disease.
Built 1571, the Manila Cathedral is one of the early structures built by the Spaniards who colonized the Philippine Islands. It has periodically undergone careful preservation work. It is located at the old city side of Manila called the "Intramuros". (Sigma 10-20mm wide angle)

My first upload in a while, so sorry about that. La Intramuros is the name for the Spanish walls and forts in and around the Philippine capital of Manila. Most of the forts were destroyed when the Japanese invaded in December of 1941. I decided to have a go at making an old castle style wall, as well as some new tree techniques. C&C welcome and encouraged. I've made a fair bit of new builds and figbarfs in my time of, so expect more to come.

Manila is the capital of the Philippines. With a population of 1,660,714 in 2006, Manila is the second most populous city in the Philippines behind Quezon City. With an estimated population of 16,300,000, Metro Manila is the most populous metropolitan area in the Philippines and the 11th in the world. The greater urban area is the 5th largest in the world with a population of 20,654,307 people.However, the populace inhabit an area of only 38.55 square kilometers, making Manila the most densely populated city in the world.
For hundreds of years, the walled city of Intramuros was Manila: the nerve center of the Spanish occupation in the Philippines, home to several thousand Spanish colonists, their families, and their Filipino servants.
Intramuros was erected on the ruins of a Malay settlement at the mouth of the Pasig River. Its strategic location attracted the attention of the conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, who took over the area in 1571 and proclaimed it as the Philippine colony's new capital.
For 400 years, Intramuros was the center of Spanish political, religious, and military power in the region. The walled city suffered grievously through World War II; only San Agustin Cathedral was left standing by war's end.
In the 1980s, the government led a major restoration effort that reconstructed Intramuros to its present state. Today, Intramuros is a prominent tourist spot where visitors can experience Spanish-era Manila through the walled city's churches, restaurants, and museums.

Fort Santiago is one of the oldest fortifications in the Philippines built on 1571 on the destroyed kingdom of Rajah Sulayman, the Islamic Kingdom of Maynilad at the bank of Pasig River. The design was based on the forts in the Ancient Europe during the 16th century. It was named after St. James the Moor-slayer, known by the Spanish as Santiago Matamoros.
This place served as prison for one of the Philippines' National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal and served as battle ground for Filipino, American and Japanese forces during World War 2. Now, the shrine is currently maintained by Intramuros Administration where the Rizal Shrine, Tanghalang Rajah Sulayman, and the LEGO Display is currently located.

On June 24, 1571, the first Governor General of the Philippines Miguel Lopez de Legazpi reestablished the former Islamic Kingdom of Maynilad into Spanish City of Manila at the site of today's Fort Santiago at the bank of the Pasig River. Then over the years, the city (known as "Insigne y Ciempre Leal Ciudad/The Noble and Everlasting Loyal City") is surrounded by walls. That makes up the original Manila. Intramuros is one of the districts in Manila that the Spanish influence is still evident.
