San Agustin Museum
Intramuros, Manila, Philippines
One gains entry to the museum through the old porter’s lodge where a 3,400 kilogram bell stands. It was taken down in 1927 from the belfry damaged by the earthquake of 1863.
This museum showcases an important collection of medieval Spanish, Mexican, Chinese and Filipino art treasures.
Originally the monastery of the adjacent San Agustin Church, it was converted into a museum in 1973.
My "Photographers Collection" features the best Philippine Tourist Destinations. This photo was taken in Intramuros, with the Philippine Jeepney in the background. Intramuros is Manila's "walled city" built during the Spanish era. San Agustin Church (a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the few buildings in Manila that survived WWII) is located in Inramuros.
