If birds ran Hollywood. The unsettling thriller where an obsessive bluebird goes on a campaign of fear and intimidation until he gets his favorite food of fly larvae. No window is safe.

Intimidation...

The Day after the 4th of July...had to go in and work at my real job...got off early...nothing to do...so nothing special...

I walked up onto the dam from the back slope...the Canada Geese just moved further away me along it...not in any particular hurry...This Goose on Watch looked kinda Bad-A$$...definitely putting out an intimidation vibe

The Spotted Sandpiper was nonplussed by the intimidation of the Common Merganser (as seen in the previous image www.flickr.com/photos/luminouscompositions/54481501925/in... ), since it had spotted a food item and wasn’t going to let some bluster interfere with procuring the necessities. {And indeed, the larger duck seems uncertain how to take the temerity of its smaller neighbour.} Once the sandpiper had swallowed down its tidbit, it proceeded on its way. This tableau took place at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Men in black:

Men in black feature prominently in ufology, UFO folklore, and fan fiction. In the 1950s and 1960s, ufologists adopted a conspiratorial mindset and began fearing they would be subject to organized intimidation in retaliation for discovering "the truth of the UFOs."

In 1947, Harold Dahl claimed a man in a dark suit warned him not to discuss his alleged UFO sighting on Maury Island. In the mid-1950s, ufologist Albert K. Bender claimed he was visited by men in dark suits who threatened and warned him not to continue investigating UFOs. He maintained that the men were secret government agents tasked with suppressing evidence of UFOs.

I think this is a more reasonable explanation:

Generally, the cheapest colour to dye fabric is black or a deep brown when using readily available commercial dyes.

(Organisations always want to cut costs).

There's not much more of an imposing sight then a two thousand pound bison staring you down. They may appear slow and mild mannered but venture too close and you're taking your life in your hands.

oh..and they drool a lot.

Millie was just chilling in the tree when the Short-eared owl made a few fly by flights, trying to get her to move along. Millie took her time, unimpressed by the owl’s attempt at intimidation.

A juvenile Night Heron defends his fishing spot from an intruding Snowy Egret.

Tempers flared and a confrontation took place between this juvenile and adult RWB over a few bits of seed on the fence post...they began with a moment of beak to beak intimidation...

It amazes me how I can walk past someone on the street without noticing them. How much do I miss each day? Every event in history had to align itself perfectly for our two souls to collide at that perfect moment, and yet, I walk past without thinking twice. Behind the eyes of these nameless faces there is a mind filled with thoughts and experience that 1000 conversations could not do justice…

Sometimes fate isn't strong enough.

Intimidation overwhelms when I consider the simultaneous thoughts of 6 billion minds at any given moment. The contrast between people relative to the few souls I consider friends brings light to a dark beauty... I am alone, but I am happy.

In the midst of everything, I long for connection. Often times, I find my eyes wondering in search for a glimpse in the crowd. An understanding glance. However rare, I am convinced that there are other eyes darting in desperation for eyes like mine.

I hope I don't miss you when i meet you darling.

Sounding Heartbeats-Intimidations

R.I.P

Alert, fear, anxiety, intimidation, defensiveness and in heightened state. This communication method is known as "piloerection." Samething when dog's hair is pointing straight up to intimidate another one or ready to fight. This was the Black-crowned Night Heron's reaction to a mink running its way and then behind the branch (see other picture).

.

Intimidation is a big part of the feeding area with these lil guys-- they'll chase each other all over the place all day long.

This sucker decided to dive bomb me as I was changing his feed

"Move, or this will be the last picture you ever take."

Mésange bleue (Cyanistes caeruleus)

This large swan in the background flew in low and fast - sounding like a small seaplane coming in for a landing. There was lots of splashing, wings stretched out, and head low - all seemingly for maximum intimidation. It worked too, as the one in the lower right made haste to leave and I was about to make a run for it myself. Fortunately, the big guy was only interested in fending off a rival, which apparently didn't include me.

As for the shot, I wasn't quite ready for the action but managed to get a couple of quick shots - including this one. Please note I'll be on and off Flickr for the next few weeks as there's lot's going on at the moment. I will pop back on to see what folks are doing, where I can. Cheers!

After a week of intimidation, cajoling and stealing each other's sleeping places tonight it's come down to this.

You can buy them matching cheetah skin beds or a sturdy fish box but there is nothing, to a cat, like a fresh, soft, pink, folded towel. At the end of the day the towel, a fire in the fireplace and the desire to get along are making for sweet dreams.

In August I was wandering around St John’s College in Cambridge (you will perhaps recall the chapel and the stained glass window wobblies). And there I was, clicking away with the camera…

The college is one of the richest in the University (and, by implication, one of the richest in the world). The buildings are grand and imposing.

But the place was a disappointment to me. The green spaces were just grass and there seemed to be no love of flowers or soft aesthetics. All power and intimidation and little heart or soul. Or perhaps it was just me .

This was one of the several cloistered walkways I came across. All very photogenic in a cliched sort of way.

To make this image different I lowered the viewpoint and took it off-centre. Then, in Silver Efex (that tool of wonder), I created a dark and moody version to add atmosphere. The day was really bright and hot so it didn’t really look like that. The image was lightly selenium toned to give it a subtle coldness to match my mood.

I’ll post the in-camera version in the first comment so that you can see how I played.

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Monochrome Thursday :)

My roommate moved out today.

It was almost a disaster from the beginning; he had promised to help out with things and do some chores around the house, but within two weeks he stopped doing ANYTHING. He berated me for not cleaning stuff but then he never cleaned anything, either, often leaving me to clean up the kitchen after him. He criticized how I had the house set up, and he had Big Plans to work on the backyard and did NOTHING.

He had shown affection for Pepita and even walked her a couple of times before he moved in; afterward he forced her off of chairs with glares and intimidation when he wanted to sit down, and she began to be afraid of him and would come over to me whenever he came home- and of course he never offered to walk her again.

Practically the first night he moved in he invited a new boyfriend for dinner, and started entertaining without really even asking my permission. He did not want to pay for the utilities to use the family room or the cable (he wanted to only pay a percentage for the square footage of the space he actually occupied i.e. the bathroom and the bedroom), but he and this boyfriend (and then another one after him) ended up watching MY DVDs in my family room. I did not really care, but I would have liked to be asked or at least informed when these things were going to happen.

But the worst was: he barely spoke. Not a “good morning” or a “hi” when he saw me. Not a word as to where he might be going or when he might be expected back. The only time he spoke was to berate or criticize or be condescending. Even today, as he moved out, he did not tell me when he was leaving for good. He just left the keys in the entry hall and left without a word, though I was seated at my desk not five feet away. I still cannot understand that rudeness, because I am not a mean or hard person to deal with.

The final straw came when I got home from my New Year’s trip and the kitchen sink was backed up. No apology and he had to be forced to go get some cleaner to work on the drain. He was sure it was MY fault and a “pre-existing condition.” Nothing was ever his fault or caused by him. I had had it by then, and told him to leave ASAP. The sink stoppage wasn’t “pre-existing” but there was another clog in the sewer line (and it was “pre-existing,” but with lesser use in his bathroom it hadn’t mattered before) that ran from his part of the house to the main line; it cost me $1200 to put in an outlet so that that line could be rootered. Nearly half of the rental money he had given me went to repairs!!

I should have known when he demanded that I move my office into the guest room I had intended as the tenant’s room, since it was adjacent to the bathroom. He wanted my office room, and I dutifully moved everything out in October and stored all of my books in the garage. What a mistake!!

But now it’s mine again, the pall has been lifted around here, and he is gone from my life for good. What an obnoxious, immature man. Sigh.. Well, I can start over with someone else but on MY terms, with a list of rules and expectations!!!!! YAY!!!!

I was setting here thinking about my father. I thought about the many ways he touched our lives. When we were very young, he often worked overtime and two jobs. He would find what our interest were, learn about them and make the time to share in our interest. There were six of us. I loved the outdoors, so he became an assistant scout master, took me fishing and canoeing. He did this with each of us and his grandchildren.

Maybe this is why I don’t get it; why is there so much hate in Yosemite National Park? Could it be that management participates, allows, then denies it? Yosemite's workplace and living conditions will remain Extremely Toxic until there is common sense and accountability.

I much needed a break, from the Domestic Terrorism In America; its pictures and collages. As I predicted; the retaliation that Koda and I have endured over the weekend, was extremely over the top. I’ll cover it later this week. He’s crashed right now; from playing fetch, being woke by a truck horn and cows, way to early. For now, you have 5 images, that I bracketed in camera, at 1 stop increments. I used Photomatix Pro 6.1.1, to layer, and I selected its balance preset. I did the final editing in Lightroom CC. What you see is natural color.

If you know someone who is Targeted, please stand by their side. Those involved in Domestic Terrorism (Gang Stalking), are cowards. If they know a Target is not alone and isolated; they will tone it down.

HWW!

No amount of torture, intimidation, or bribery can make me give away the super secret location of these mysterious windows. They are nowhere near the Museum of Glass in Tacoma Washington!

Happy Windows Wednesday!

As always, best viewed large!

My riding buddy, Tony and I decided to take a chance on a new trail.

I'm not typically afraid of heights, nor do I mind boulders or sheer ascents, but this trail put them all together.

Tony is standing on flat part of the trail, but you can see that the 300 foot drop off is less than a bike length away from the trail. On the other side of him is the mountainside. I actually put my bike down and climbed up for this shot.

The tough part was trying to navigate this narrow passage while traversing steep climbs riddled with rocks and boulders.

Total distance was only 10 miles, but it took us 2.5 hours with a total climb of 1,713 feet.

Altogether, this trail was so much fun, with fantastic, scenic views and a great flowy downhill.

Now I need to find me something chocolaty to eat, cause I earned it.

But some peppers are more equal than others.

There has been uproar in Ireland in recent months due to the level of abuse & intimidation experienced by referees, even at junior matches. People/parents seem to think is perfectly OK to hurl abuse at the referee. Some have been threatened with physical violence and "we know where you live" type threats. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour & I hope the Gardai take it seriously www.independent.ie/irish-news/soccer-referees-threaten-ma...

This sign has since ended up on the ground (either ripped down or blown down in the wind) so I'm glad I took this photo when I did HSS!

While Yosemite’s Mobbing Community spreads hate and terror, millions of brave Americans are finding ways to help those in need.

I know my comments are controversial, but real life often is. Many of us know; the truth can be terrifying and is often hidden from the general public.

I stood on the tracks to get this shot until the moment the crossing gates came down. Yep, I felt a bit intimidated!
