I can't believe how long it's been since I updated the thread on this build- I've been working on it incrementally but totally neglected to keep things posted.
Regardless, here's where I'm at;
five of the modules had severe air cavities under the main layer of resin where it ought to have been solid, so rather than ignore the issue (as it wasn't visible, but was structurally questionable) I cut out those areas before levelling them out with resin and filler.
Then this evening I rewatched Interstellar itself whilst panelling the repaired modules.
Tomorrow I'm going to build the master for the spherical joints... my intention is to vacuum form them in halves to preserve the ability for disassembly.
Photo dump: making headway on the Lander master.
Landing bulks are machined acetal, and thruster chambers in Perspex. I had to simplify the geometry of the landing bulks as I had very little success getting it correct; so I captured the essence of the shapes and moulded them. I'll cast and modify a pair for the slightly larger rear boxes.

I finally accepted that the Lander was too stubby and bit the bullet by performing some plastic surgery on the belly (badum-tsshhh)
I'll admit this ship is wreaking through every skill I know, it's a deep technical challenge. Definitely a harder task than I had pegged it to be, however...not an insurmountable one !
In other news I began machining the brass armature.

A photo I took while picnicking in the desert few months ago. Admiring the stars, I noticed this interesting angle of my husband. It is not his portrait and only an impression of an anonymous character in the dark. My husband said this photo reminds him of the song "Interstellar Overdrive" by Pink Floyd.
I think it fits :). You can click HERE to listen.
NASA image release April 23, 2010..NASA's Hubble Space Telescope captured this billowing cloud of cold interstellar gas and dust rising from a tempestuous stellar nursery located in the Carina Nebula, 7,500 light-years away in the southern constellation Carina. This pillar of dust and gas serves as an incubator for new stars and is teeming with new star-forming activity.
Hot, young stars erode and sculpt the clouds into this fantasy landscape by sending out thick stellar winds and scorching ultraviolet radiation. The low-density regions of the nebula are shredded while the denser parts resist erosion and remain as thick pillars. In the dark, cold interiors of these columns new stars continue to form.
In the process of star formation, a disk around the proto-star slowly accretes onto the star's surface. Part of the material is ejected along jets perpendicular to the accretion disk. The jets have speeds of several hundreds of miles per second. As these jets plow into the surround nebula, they create small, glowing patches of nebulosity, called Herbig-Haro (HH) objects.
Long streamers of gas can be seen shooting in opposite directions off the pedestal on the upper right-hand side of the image. Another pair of jets is visible in a peak near the top-center of the image. These jets (known as HH 901 and HH 902, respectively) are common signatures of the births of new stars.
This image celebrates the 20th anniversary of Hubble's launch and deployment into an orbit around Earth. Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 observed the pillar on Feb. 1-2, 2010. The colors in this composite image correspond to the glow of oxygen (blue), hydrogen and nitrogen (green), and sulfur (red).

This is my first MOC. It started out as a Mining Freighter but shiny white and sleek design does not really match a Space Mining Company now, does it? Interstellar priority freighter it is, for the moment being. :)
Critique and Comments welcome!

All twelve modules have now been fitted and just a little cleanup left to do on some- I've also nearly finished casting all the payloads which go in the back of the habitation modules, so that ought to be done by the end of today.
In between casts I was making the tunnel module master, which is now already moulded and I'll soon be casting from.
The last thing I did yesterday was make the brass arm which juts from the ship's aft. I intend to tap a 1/4" tripod thread into it for mounting purposes, so I needed the join to withstand holding up 5kg; I reasoned the strongest join I'd be able to whip up at 11pm in my shop would be if I pinned and soldered the two brass bars together. As you can see, it works a charm.

Detailing on the Habitation Module. I still need to place a couple of windows in the angled recess, but overall it's nearly ready for moulding.

A starless 3nm Narrowband Hydrogen-Alpha (Hα) study of the dust and gas in the Tarantula Nebula (NGC 2070), situated in the Large Magellanic Cloud (one of the Milky Way's satellite Galaxies).
The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is one of the irregular satellite dwarf Galaxies of the Milky Way Galaxy, that is among the closest Galaxies to Earth. There is also a Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), both discovered by Magellan. The Magellanic Clouds are visible from the Southern Hemisphere with the naked eye.
The LMC contains the most active starburst region known in the Local Group of Galaxies. The Local Group comprises more than 54 Galaxies (mostly dwarf Galaxies). The three largest members of the group (in descending order) are the Andromeda Galaxy, the Milky Way Galaxy and the Triangulum Galaxy.
