This is what Cal Park looked like back in 1983. We're facing west in this shot. The IHB mains are to the left, the B&OCT to the right, and to the far right is the Kennington branch curving off the B&O. The old Pennsy is behind me. I was out on a dispatcher's review, where we had to walk the territory. Looks like I better get out of the way because here comes the East Chicago job behind one of Chessie's beautiful GP15T's.
The remains of former interlocking rodding run parallel to the now repositioned mainline as eastbound Amtrak passenger train #50, the Cardinal, races downgrade with a plume of smoke through the blooming mountainsides on the late morning of April 25, 2021, in Alleghany, VA.
Pistol grips, switch numbers, current gages, relays, model boards. Requisite hardware of a 20s-era GRS interlocking machine. Safe yet inefficient. Fascinating yet tedious. Obsolete. Lenox Tower's heart and guts, still alive but facing a fast-approaching murder at the hand of centralized traffic control. Tower closed 10/30/18. Structure demolished 5/17/21. A chapter of St. Louis railroad history...gone forever.

Dorset/Wiltshire border. Another day chasing the frost, this time a different area, the clouds didn't lift all morning so we had to make do with some low-contrast and quite graphical monotone compositions. I'm sure a learned geographer would know the correct term for this particular feature pictured, all I know it was a fantastic find - courtesy of Mr Spencer having spied it from the other direction. The subject matter was a challenge worth meeting even in the dwindling visibility - just a 'tiny' bump in contrast to bring out the details...
A former SP interlocking tower lives on in Luling, TX as a tire shop. Its always the last place you look... December 2013.
The Nittany & Bald Eagle Railroad operates the former PRR Bald Eagle Branch, which once had CTC. Although Conrail deactivated the signals in the early 80's when it tried to abandon the branch, many signals remained into the 2000's. But by 2021, I believe this bridge in Milesburg holds the last of the Pennsy Position Lights on the line.

La casetta centrale dà l'impressione di essere stata incastrata a forza tra le altre due costruzioni come se fosse stata messa li per sorreggerle.

I'm not feeling too well today, but I'll try and visit your streams later in the day...

In the Dearborn Subway, a Forest Park-bound CTA Blue Line train swings through the curve underneath Congress Parkway, about to pass through La Salle Interlocking and make its stop at the La Salle station. The subway station here is below and adjacent to La Salle Street Station, terminal for Metra's Rock Island District.
An inbound C&NW Northwest Line scoot approaches Lake Street interlocking and the Chicago Passenger Terminal. Semaphores and double slip switches dominate this March 31st 1984 scene. Mark Ratzer photo.
Most of the Western Maryland relics along the Lurgan Subdivision are gone, making this old shack worth grabbing in a frame whenever I can. CSX train D773 is passing the old telephone hut that stands at the Conboy Interlocking near milepost 14. This used to be a signaled, automatic switch in decades past but with the decline in Lurgan Sub traffic it was no longer needed and it is now a hand-thrown switch to a little used siding.
the XX37 assault rifle. It is well known throughout the xx army for its range of compatiblity on any class.A widely used rifle by the xx army's different unit classes.Despite being such an old rifle,it is still being demanded to meet the requirements of the present combat. This is the 3rd upgrade of the XX37,which means that XX37 is the only rifle in the xx army to have a 3rd generation.
I have previously posted pics with various numbers of interlocking forks, often with an egg balanced on top (because I can).
I have prayed with the intensities just to add interest.

I rebuilt YO tower to include a train order semaphore in addition to its mechanical interlocking machine. It is equipped to operate both mechanical semaphores and electric signals at a 1x2 track diamond crossing. Previous incarnations were too complex to travel easily. This re-design aims to build a simple and transportable moc that will showcase the lego interlocking machine and mechanical semaphore signals
Passing under power lines that almost mimic the track layout of Delray, CP T-40 heads back to Windsor, Ontario after interchanging with NS at Oakwood Yard. Delray is one of the last manned interlocking towers left in service in the US. One can see several railroads converging at this location. CP, CN, NS, Conrail Shared Assets, CSX, and The Delray Connecting Railroad all pass through the junction along with several yards in close proximity (CSX Rougemere, NS Oakwood, and CR Livernois Yards).
Train: CP T-40 with CP 5020 (SD30C-ECO), CP 6261 (SD60M), and CP 5030 (SD30C-ECO).

I have an interest in Geology & imagine the Tectonic Plates which are always moving & exerting huge pressure on each other to be locked in battle like this...compressing & expanding until the Earths surface is ruptured creating Volcanic activity & Earth Quakes.....the weak points are known as faults where much of this activity takes place
thanks for looking in....appreciated.....best bigger....hope you have a Great Weekend
