Interesting clouds and thunderstorms were brewing in northern California, so a Saturday afternoon drive from Sacramento to the Plumas National Forest was a welcome respite from a heavy workload in my day job lately, and a great excuse to take the camera to Sardine Lake for some comps. The tops of the Sierra Buttes were nearly obscured with clouds, but the sun and peaks would peak out occasionally in the ever changing weather conditions. A beautiful afternoon spent in mother nature!
I was so excited to find this...and excited to return to it while I wade through my humungous backlog of photos. I think it may be Stenolemus sp.
Interesting effect at the beginning of Coville Rd. From asking the Friends of Baskett Slough group the best guess is that the grass was sprayed to kill it (preparatory to converting to a different crop and then the leavings of the combines left the new green tracks ("volunteers, some sort of brassica probably." (a few people and likes for them, some of whom are local farmers. "Rapeseed (canola)" has been suggested as a likely brassica.)

Interesting remodel work in this house. A kitchen with a sink and a bathroom were added at some point. The old cookstove was replaced with a heater and an electric stove was where the wallpaper covered the wainscoating boards. Notice the water pipes coming down from the water heater on the second floor.
