I really wanted the brush higher up but couldn't manage, and have the brush coming from the corner of the frame, unless I had less lipstick showing...and that would never do.

Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao - was built between 1994 - 1997 Creation of the museum was intended to be one of the ways the authorities Bilbao draw from the crisis, in which the city was falling into the death of the dictator Franco in 1975.

Muzeum Guggenheima w Bilbao - zostało wybudowane w latach 1994 - 1997.

Muzeum stworzyło wtedy ok. 9000 nowych miejsc pracy.

Gmach muzeum zbudowany jest m.in. z blachy tytanowej i szkła. Przestrzeń ekspozycyjna muzeum obejmuje ok. 11 000 m². W swoich zbiorach posiada ono zbiory sztuki współczesnej; między innymi prace Eduardo Chillidy, Andy Warhola, Willema de Kooning i Roberta Rauschenberga.

My heart wasn't in this today. I took a few photos I wasn't happy with before I came up with this one. I do love lavender, it's so calming...probably what we all need right now. This is from last year when I went lavender picking at Hitchin Lavender. I had intended to make lavender bags but didn't get round to it.

The Jaguar XK120 was the fastest production car in the world when launched... Originally designed to showcase Jaguar’s new 6-cylinder XK engine, the XK120 was not initially intended for volume production, but following a rapturous reception at the Earl's Court Motor Show in London in 1948, plans soon changed. Becoming more widely available in 1950 its 120mph top speed and styling were unprecedented in the immediate post-war years.

XK120s were very successful in motor sports of all kinds, both in Britain and in the US.

A walk from Bristol to Bath on the former Midland Railway line via Fishponds, Mangotsfield, Warmley and Bitton.

A view westward through Staple Hill Tunnel - and there is light at the end.

Local trains to Bath were withdrawn on and from 7 March 1966, but Birmingham to Bristol trains continued to run through this tunnel until 27 December 1969 when an obstruction caused them to be diverted away, two days before the date it was intended that they should be rerouted anyway.

Another wonderful day out exploring the back roads! We met some very lovely and helpful people and saw the waterfall we had intended to see. (this isn't it!) The waterfall, called Stanton Creek waterfall, was beautiful but hard to photograph as I could only look down on it and could not get a good perspective. There was a path that went straight down, but it was inches deep in mud and didn't look the least bit safe! I could see Anita eyeballing it wistfully though! This photo was taken upstream where there were a series of smaller cascades, this being the first of a series of about three small drops. We found another swinging bridge and walked a little while on the Appalachian Trail. (This trail is 2,200 miles long! ) So many new sights and experiences added up to a truly stand out day.

Not intended as a posting for interest in itself, but rather to provide context for my other rookery shots. The island at center is the site of the nests, with the trees and shrubbery filled with various residents: Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Black-crowned Night Herons, and a few Little Blue Herons.

She sits alone at a table, her back to the door, holding an empty plate. She seems to stare straight through it. I don't know who she is or what the artist intended, but she strikes me as a woman who has lost all hope.

you see, these are my Italian shares, I also have some, just not as many and as beautiful as you :))))), dear Andrea.

The artistic decoration of the interior in the ornamental rococo style has a stirring effect on today's viewer. The overwhelming effect is a planned one: the splendor of the church is intended to convince the believer of the greatness of God. Heaven and the hereafter are literally brought to earth, so that the believer can not only sense them, but also see them vividly before him.

Intended to replace the ageing and outdated 125 HST, High Speed Trains, these Azuma units are bi-mode EMUs or Electric Multiple Units. Bi-mode means that they operate on Diesel generators where no overhead electric cables are available for the electric traction.

Hamburg's newest subway station on the U4 line is by far the most unusual public transport stop in the entire city. Tons of reinforced concrete form the basis for this architecturally extraordinary underground space. On an area of 3200 square meters, it's not just about city dwellers getting in and out of the means of transport of their choice. Rather, the subway station itself can be viewed as a unique attraction.

The room design is generous. 6.5 meter long light cubes hang from the high ceilings along the entire length of the platform. In terms of shape and dimensions, these are intended to be reminiscent of the 20-foot shipping containers stored in the port of Hamburg. The light objects create impressive lighting effects that unfold their effect in the cathedral-like space. The light play is underlined by sound effects. Ship horns, the humming of huge ship engines or the cries of seagulls envelop the room in a carpet of sound typical of a port.

The area that was to become West Palm Beach was settled in the late 1870s and 1880s by a few hundred settlers who called the vicinity "Lake Worth Country." These settlers were a diverse community from different parts of the United States and the world. They included founding families such at the Potters and the Lainharts, who would go on to become leading members of the business community in the fledgling city. The first white settlers in Palm Beach County lived around Lake Worth, then an enclosed freshwater lake, named for Colonel William Jenkins Worth, who had fought in the Second Seminole War in Florida in 1842. Most settlers engaged in the growing of tropical fruits and vegetables for shipment the north via Lake Worth and the Indian River. By 1890, the U.S. Census counted over 200 people settled along Lake Worth in the vicinity of what would become West Palm Beach. The area at this time also boasted a hotel, the "Cocoanut House", a church, and a post office. The city was platted by Henry Flagler as a community to house the servants working in the two grand hotels on the neighboring island of Palm Beach, across Lake Worth in 1893, coinciding with the arrival of the Florida East Coast railroad. Flagler paid two area settlers, Captain Porter and Louie Hillhouse, a combined sum of $45,000 for the original town site, stretching from Clear Lake to Lake Worth.

On November 5, 1894, 78 people met at the "Calaboose" (the first jail and police station located at Clematis St. and Poinsettia, now Dixie Hwy.) and passed the motion to incorporate the Town of West Palm Beach in what was then Dade County (now Miami-Dade County). This made West Palm Beach the first incorporated municipality in Dade County and in South Florida. The town council quickly addressed the building codes and the tents and shanties were replaced by brick, brick veneer, and stone buildings. The city grew steadily during the 1890s and the first two decades of the 20th century, most residents were engaged in the tourist industry and related services or winter vegetable market and tropical fruit trade. In 1909, Palm Beach County was formed by the Florida State Legislature and West Palm Beach became the county seat. In 1916, a new neo-classical courthouse was opened, which has been painstakingly restored back to its original condition, and is now used as the local history museum.

The city grew rapidly in the 1920s as part of the Florida land boom. The population of West Palm Beach quadrupled from 1920 to 1927, and all kinds of businesses and public services grew along with it. Many of the city's landmark structures and preserved neighborhoods were constructed during this period. Originally, Flagler intended for his Florida East Coast Railway to have its terminus in West Palm, but after the area experienced a deep freeze, he chose to extend the railroad to Miami instead.

The land boom was already faltering when city was devastated by the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane. The Depression years of the 1930s were a quiet time for the area, which saw slight population growth and property values lower than during the 1920s. The city only recovered with the onset of World War II, which saw the construction of Palm Beach Air Force Base, which brought thousands of military personnel to the city. The base was vital to the allied war effort, as it provided an excellent training facility and had unparalleled access to North Africa for a North American city. Also during World War II, German U-Boats sank dozens of merchant ships and oil tankers just off the coast of West Palm Beach. Nearby Palm Beach was under black out conditions to minimize night visibility to German U-boats.

The 1950s saw another boom in population, partly due to the return of many soldiers and airmen who had served in the vicinity during the war. Also, the advent of air conditioning encouraged growth, as year-round living in a tropical climate became more acceptable to northerners. West Palm Beach became the one of the nation's fastest growing metropolitan areas during the 1950s; the city's borders spread west of Military Trail and south to Lake Clarke Shores. However, many of the city's residents still lived within a narrow six-block wide strip from the south to north end. The neighborhoods were strictly segregated between White and African-American populations, a legacy that the city still struggles with today. The primary shopping district remained downtown, centered around Clematis Street.

In the 1960s, Palm Beach County's first enclosed shopping mall, the Palm Beach Mall, and an indoor arena were completed. These projects led to a brief revival for the city, but in the 1970s and 1980s crime continued to be a serious issue and suburban sprawl continued to drain resources and business away from the old downtown area. By the early 1990s there were very high vacancy rates downtown, and serious levels of urban blight.

Since the 1990s, developments such as CityPlace and the preservation and renovation of 1920s architecture in the nightlife hub of Clematis Street have seen a downtown resurgence in the entertainment and shopping district. The city has also placed emphasis on neighborhood development and revitalization, in historic districts such as Northwood, Flamingo Park, and El Cid. Some neighborhoods still struggle with blight and crime, as well as lowered property values caused by the Great Recession, which hit the region particularly hard. Since the recovery, multiple new developments have been completed. The Palm Beach Mall, located at the Interstate 95/Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard interchange became abandoned as downtown revitalized - the very mall that initiated the original abandonment of the downtown. The mall was then redeveloped into the Palm Beach Fashion Outlets in February 2014. A station for All Aboard Florida, a high-speed passenger rail service serving Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Orlando, is under construction as of July 2015.

Hampton Court Palace is a Grade I listed royal palace in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, 12 miles southwest and upstream of central London on the River Thames.

The building of the palace began in 1514 and went on to become one of Henry VIII’s most favoured residences. Along with St James' Palace, it is one of only two surviving palaces out of the many the king owned. The palace is currently in the possession of King Charles III and the Crown.

In the following century, King William III's massive rebuilding and expansion work, which was intended to rival the Palace of Versailles, destroyed much of the Tudor palace.

I intended to make it very high contrast at shooting time, but liked this subdued look at processing time. Two hours or so apart. Tomorrow? Who knows?

Three Bighorn rams on the move across the grasslands of Badlands National Park. When we first spotted this trio they were heading away from us. Not wanting butt shots I managed to outpace and briefly get ahead of them for this shot. That wasn't easy. Like many of their ungulate cousins, they move effortlessly and deceptively fast across uneven terrain. This was shot from a slightly elevated position. I would have preferred an eye level perspective but that would have meant obstructing their intended path which would have been rude.

PLEASE NO INVITES AS THIS IS INTENDED AS A GREETING ONLY - THANK YOU.

Matthew 28:5-7

And the angel answered and said to the women, Fear not you: for I know that you seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there shall you see him: see, I have told you.

Is It So Important?

Is it really so important

just to know that Jesus died,

Does it really make a difference knowing

He was crucified?

Indeed, it was for all my sin

He hung upon a tree,

So it really is important -

through believing, I am free.

Free from all my sin and shame, my

conscience cleansed from guilt,

You too may know this blessing,

through believing if you wilt.

Is it so important then to know that Jesus rose?

That the tomb was empty, mocking

all the efforts of His foes.

Yes! It proves his power,

over sin and death and grave.

By His glorious resurrection,

we know He came to save.

His disciples who had seen Him die,

were frightened and were sad;

Until the day of resurrection -

His appearing made them glad.

He ascended to his Father,

there His precious blood to plead,

For those who came believing,

acknowledging their need,

He has sent his Holy Spirit

(Guide and Comforter is He)

He will teach me of my Saviour,

who will come again for me.

Then - with all who love Him,

we shall meet Him in the air.

He will take us to his Father's house,

to praise Him ever there.

I guess castles always have a touch of Romance about them certainly Dunstanburgh Castle on the edge of the North Sea seems particularly magical. Taken a very warm July day back in 2013

Dunstanburgh Castle is a 14th-century fortification on the coast of Northumberland in northern England, located between the villages of Craster and Embleton. The castle was built by Earl Thomas of Lancaster between 1313 and 1322, taking advantage of the site's natural defences and the existing earthworks of a former Iron Age fort. Thomas was a leader of a baronial faction opposed to King Edward II, and probably intended Dunstanburgh to act as a secure refuge, should the political situation in southern England deteriorate. The castle also served as a statement of the earl's wealth and influence, and would have invited comparisons with the neighbouring royal castle of Bamburgh. Thomas probably only visited his new castle once, before being captured at Battle of Boroughbridge as he attempted to flee royal forces for the safety of Dunstanburgh. Thomas was executed, and the castle became the property of the Crown, before passing into the Duchy of Lancaster.

Wernigerode Castle was originally a medieval castle that was intended to secure the route of the German emperors of the Middle Ages on their hunting trips to the Harz Mountains.

Here's one for fun. I have intended to try this for quite a while.

What was intended to be a longer ride on this lovely fall day, turned out to be a short one. We didn't get past the little group of shaggy parasols I spied beside the trail. Inspite of much effort and time taken as well as a tripod, I didn't get any very rewarding shots. Even my bicycle picture isn't in focus! Just one of those days... But Janos did find enough mushrooms for a nice pasta funghi when we returned home.

Cavazzo is a sub-mountain lake located at low altitude (190m above sea level), between the Friuli upper plain and the Carnic pre-Alps, with rather still water and rich in vegetation, but the pre-Alpine surroundings make it fascinating and the color of the water resembles that of Alpine lakes.

Being a lake not particularly oxygenated and rather hot in summer, it is inhabited mainly by cyprinids and it is easy to observe Carps (Cyprinus carpio) and Mirror Carps (Cyprinus carpio specularis) at their maximum size, visible especially in the internal pond and in the reeds where they hide and reproduce.

Fishing is prohibited as it is a site intended for reproduction.

It is in a large valley where there is considerable air exchange between the Alpine valleys, the plain and the Adriatic sea, with very abundant precipitation (over 2000mm/year), especially in autumn, frequent and strong thunderstorms, especially from May to September, average temperatures are similar to those of the upper part of the Friuli plain with very little winter snowfall, as per the Friuli plain.

It is a well-kept and touristic place, pleasant for relaxing and breezy walks.

Originally intended as one of my attempts at the "Macro Mondays" theme "Candy"... however I re-read the description and it probably doesn't count as candy!

Guess what's for dinner tonight :-) Right: mie goreng, veggie fried pasta. The intended contact here is with my mouth, of course, but first things first, and that's chopsticks. Placed on a soup bowl from Japan. Not that easy to keep "Goldilocks" in place, because after I'd cooked, rinsed and refreshed them with cold water, I'd spread them with a little sesame and olive oil so they wouldn't be glued together today; a quite slippery affair ;-)

A quick snap after numerous (failed) attempts at properly shooting honey making contact with cough tea. Processed entirely in Luminar with finishing touches in ON1 (detail enhancer and Nicolesy's Crisp and Clean preset, both with 50 % opacity)

Have a Happy Macro Monday, and a great, tasty week ahead, with hopefully many nice encounters, dear Flickr friends :-)

I intended to call this drive by shooting, but Christie begged otherwise. ')

My happy place revisited, my best shot here by far and I have a lot of them. Dawn broke quietly this day and I had the place to myself. It was so silent I could hear it as I tip toed about searching for the best spot, all of them came out great, but my daughter said she wanted this one on her wall so I'll post it. Turn the ac on to about 48 degrees F, put on some noise cancelling earphones, imagine the crunching of frosty grass and blow this up...... yeah, it's like that..... :-)
