The churches, places intended to meet the needs of Christian worship, are a characteristic and inextricable element of the Greek landscape. Their decoration – whether painting, mosaic or other - always reflects the Orthodox doctrine, following specific style trends and established iconographic programmes.

Macro Mondays: Intended Contact
Thank you all for your views, faves and/or comments! It’s greatly appreciated! Happy MM! :-)
I had intended to revisit Roddlesworth Wood but wasn't aware of this area our small photo group visited today. It was just magical and thanks to our organiser for coming up with another successful shoot!
Try as I did to turn down the vibrant colours here, I felt in doing so I would be betraying the scene how it was. The autumn colours were so alive after the recent rain and just stunning!
Stirring the herbal/flower-tea to have a nice cup of tea ;-))
For the Macro Mondays theme “Intended Contact”.
---
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Ufa film studios, the color film "Münchhausen," produced at great expense and with a star-studded cast, was released in 1943 - in the middle of World War II. It told the life story of the well-known and popular "Liar Baron" Hieronymus von Münchhausen - as was fitting for a film commissioned by the Minister of Propaganda himself. The film was expressly intended to be an entertainment film and not a propaganda film. The screenplay was written by the writer Erich Kästner, who was actually banned from his profession, under a pseudonym. Despite strict censorship, some dialogues contain potentially subversive statements. For example, Münchausen replies to his servant Christian when the latter, looking at the baron's watch, sais that either the watch must be broken, or time itself: "Time is broken, Christian."
That's all there is to say today, too.

“Love is more than a paper heart. Love is the very essence of life.” – Gordon B. Hinkley (American religious leader).
The theme for “Smile on Saturday” for the 12th of February is “colourful hearts”. I had originally intended to use some hearts cut from a cookie cutter using bright papers, but I wasn’t happy with the resulting photos I took. Then, as I pondered what to do, I remembered how I used quill hearts from paper when I was at school, many years ago. Amazingly, I can still remember how to quill hearts to this day. I liked these much better than my original idea as I think they look very striking and cast a rather nice shadow. I do hope that you like it, and that it makes you smile.
I had intended to take a new photo for bokeh Wednesday but the ones I took weren't bokerish enough (you'll see them one of these days though) -so it's back to my favourite hydrangea again -sorry!
HBW everyone!
I had intended this to be my golden sunset shot on my American Roadtrip but the weather had different ideas. So had to go for a long exposure standing in the water instead.
The Czartoryski Park was created after 1785 by Princess Izabela Czartoryska around the baroque palace. The park was intended to reflect a romantic mood; i.e. seriousness, reverie and lofty feelings.
The most important garden pavilion in Puławy was the Temple of the Sibyl, where Princess Izabela collected various national and historical memorabilia. It was a classicistic rotunda modeled on the Roman temple of Vesta in Tivoli. On its pediment she had the words "Past to Future " carved into it.
In the Gothic House, the owner collected souvenirs from other countries and sculptures. There, among others there was the famous "Lady with an Ermine" by Leonardo da Vinci, as well as paintings by Raphael and Rembrandt. Next to this house stood a beautiful Italian sculpture that depicts Tancred and Clorinda, the heroes of the novel "Jerusalem Delivered". It is now a replica of it.

Park Czartoryskich został utworzony po roku 1785 roku przez księżną Izabelę Czartoryską wokół barokowego pałacu. Park miał odzwierciedlać romantyczny nastrój; a więc powagę, zadumę i wzniosłe uczucia.
Tam m.in. wisiała słynna „Dama z łasiczką” Leonarda da Vinci, a także obrazy Rafaela i Rembranta. Obok tego domu stała piękna włoska rzeźba, która przedstawia Tankreda i Kloryndę, bohaterów powieści "Jerozolima Wyzwolona". Obecnie jest to jej replika.

Shot of water drop hitting a clear glass container sitting on a sepia dyed concrete counter with overhead lighting and flash to capture the action. Water dripped with a turkey baster. Trial and error with the shots taken with Tokina macro lens on tripod. Caught this one about right, hitting and bouncing off the water surface.

I wasn't going to make any posts. I intended to do a basic effort. I'd want to wish everyone a happy 2023 and write a regular post. But I got a bit carried away. Despite the recent chaos and hardship of life, I still wanted to take a moment for you.
Additionally, I didn't want to be corny, but New Years is all about being cheesy, so I can't avoid it.
I would like to take a moment to thank you all for being by my side and making my day better. Recently, things have been a little gloomy but also necessary, and you're always there to brighten my day with a funny or humorous post, your blog posts, or whatever.
The cliché part is now.
I desire for you to be in excellent health in 2023 because you can't really do anything without it. I also hope that you will be able to fulfill all of your wishes and achieve all of your ambitions in every aspect of your life, including your career, personal relationships or work in yourself, and love life.
So, my dear friends, here's wishing you all a magnificent year and nothing but joy in these new chapters of your lives.
Thank you and I adore you all.
I sincerely appreciate you being there ❤
I use it almost every day. Adhesive tape to fix things that have come loose or should be held together. Very often I have already injured myself on this sharp edge. Luckily for this shot, I did not need to tear down anything, just provide the right light.
Through the 1720's-1748, many garden designers worked at Stowe. Each experimented with styles for which they would later become famous, helping to make Stowe what you see today. Lord Cobham liked to work with the most fashionable forward thinkers of the time and intended to be a trendsetter for all who visited his estate to see his power. These included James Gibbs, William Kent and Lancelot 'Capability' Brown to name a few.
There are spots that are obviously only intended to attract photographers. This is one of them, the cypresses of San Quirico d'Orcia. Two small groups of trees on green hills. Actually nothing special for a landscape photographer as it was created by humans. And yet, as you can see, it works.
The idea of having this image as a screen background was just too tempting. Ok, I wouldn't come here especially for sunrise, but for a short detour I found the result very successful. Above all, I think I was really lucky with the clouds. Without them, the photo wouldn't look nearly as good.
And although there are basically only a few trees in a meadow, visitors could actually be seen here all day long.
By the way, I've been here twice, to be exact, as I forgot my sunglasses the first time. In case anyone is interested in that detail, I found them again.

Happy Earth Day!

I remember the first one well in 1970, my senior year. They let us out of school that afternoon and we picked up litter around town. Then we had a celebration for old Gaia. Great fun.
Earth Day is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment. Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in first held on April 22, 1970. While this first Earth Day was focused on the United States, an organization launched by Denis Hayes, who was the original national coordinator in 1970, took it international in 1990 and organized events in 141 nations. Earth Day is now celebrated in more than 175 countries every year.
I admire, support and greatly appreciate the portions of our precious planet that we have protected for future generations to enjoy, like this view of Mt. Rainier capturing the first light on another glorious day.
Thanks for the taking a look, and protecting and celebrating our home.
No pun intended!!
2017 Spring came very late. This picture was a throwback, it presented itself at a time when it was snowing in most parts of our country.
Sometimes we don't choose our photos, sometimes they choose for us 😆😄
I arrived later than intended in Brighton, Sussex, UK. The light was going and it was rather grey and rain was in the air. Missed the opportunity for the seagulls and lacked a little inspiration on the pier.....Then the sky opened fleetingly and I secured 2 or 3 shots. This is my favourite due to the cloud forming the number 5 to the right of the shot.....I have hesitated in putting this up because the people I have asked for a critique on this shot haven’t noticed the number.....Leaving the title looking a little challenging 😁.....The funny thing is that is all I can see now!
Anyway! Thanks for visiting.
You have a good weekend.....
Hadn't intended to use this tree mushroom for Macro Mondays when I took the picture, but the texture is just lovely.
This MM theme went round and round (no pun intended) in my head all day. After an exhausting day and an accidental after-dinner nap on the sofa 😱, I decided on the simplest thing I could get my hands on. A thimble, which lights nicely and creates its own bokeh. I'm still not sure it's the best thing I could've come up with in the (rather limited) time I've had over the past week, but here it is anyway.
No. 4 in the Hospital Walk series. This photo shows the back of the hospitals on Murray Street where the newer extension/expansions are. The more impressive older buildings face east on University Avenue. The black and white shows the challenge of their tasks and the inevitable goodbyes.
I had intended to slip over to Bempton for a few days in a couple of weeks time to have another long overdue session with these amazing birds, but that was BCV.
Thanks for viewing and thank you for your faves and comments. Stay well and stay safe everyone.
Originally intended to catch the 1st sunrise of the new year but the temperature that morning (6 degrees F) said otherwise. I waited until that evening when the temp was a balmy 13. lol
I intended to post this in the summer but I forgot. Now it's autumn, but here are the roses. Interesting how you see all the stages of the blooms on one twig -- from buds to blossoms to buds that lost their petals. Admin hoto of the week and featured on the Front Page of the Sunshine Group, Oct. 14, 2019.
[Please enlarge. This shot is intended to be expansive.]
I have to admit this photograph is exactly why I took the camera out that Sunday afternoon. Two things really interest me in landscapes: Light and the weather. It's why I love J.M.W. Turner's (1775-1851) paintings so much. Although this is more Constable (1776-1837) than Turner. The father of the Australian landscape, John Glover (1767-1849), knew both Turner and Constable very well before late in life embarking on a new career in Van Diemen's Land. Glover lived on his farm "Patterdale" at Deddington, in the foothills of Ben Lomond. But he would roam far and wide around Launceston and I'd like to think he would have seen the Tamar Valley from a point close to this. He'd be amazed at the developments.
Striking a match for this week's Macro Mondays theme: "Intended Contact"
"The intention of this theme is to show 2 objects interacting with each other (actually touching !) for the purpose of performing a specific action. It must be clear that the contact is not just by coincidence but with the purpose to actually achieve something."
