122-124 Colmore Row is a Grade I listed building on Colmore Row in Birmingham, England. Built as the Eagle Insurance Offices it was later occupied by Orion Insurance and was Hudson's Coffee House until late 2011, It is currently vacant (as of December 2012).
Completed in 1900, it was designed in an Arts and Crafts style by William Lethaby and Joseph Lancaster Ball. Pevsner's The Buildings of England: Warwickshire describes it as "one of the most original buildings of its date in England" and Foster's Birmingham (Pevsner Architectural Guides) as "one of the most important monuments of the Arts and Crafts Free Style in the country".
Evenacre acquired the building in 2011 and undertook a £500,000 renovation of the building including restoration of the stone façade and interior works including a feature reception. In October 2014 CBRE started marketing the vacant building to potential tenants.

The New York City Department of Transportation's Urban Art Program partnered with Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership and Magnan and Metz Gallery to present Alexandre Arrechea's sculpture, "Metropolitan Life Insurance." Previously exhibited on Park Avenue, the sculpture was relocated to 23rd Street, Broadway and Fifth Avenue adjacent to the Flatiron Building. The sculpture is inspired by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Building located at Madison Avenue and 23rd Street.
Alexandre Arrechea is a successful Cuban artist who has continually exhibited his work at Magnan and Metz Gallery. For twelve years, he was a member of the art collective Los Carpinteros, until he left the group in 2003 to continue his solo career. His public art explores concepts of power and its' network of hierarchies, surveillance, control, prohibitions and subjection. The interdisciplinary quality of Arrechea's work reveals an interest in the exploration of both public and private spaces.

c1910 postcard view of the Maxim Building (misspelled on the postcard) and the Masonic Temple in New Castle, Indiana. This is a view of Race Street taken from the court house square. The photographer was standing West of Main Street and facing southwest. There are hundreds of electric lights hanging above the street. The single story building at the left edge of this view (1225 Race Street) housed the TINY BUTTER TAILORS. The name ALBERTSON can be seen on a sign at the top of the building. The 1909 business directory placed online by Henry County Genealogical Services lists Eaglewood and Albertson as “merchant tailors” at this address. Next door (1221-23 Race Street) is the REDDING Building. Signs on that building are for the BEACH & MIKELS LAW OFFICE and THE GEM CLEANING, PRESSING AND REPAIRING. The 1909 business directory lists Beach & Mikels with an address at 1221 Race Street. The Sanborn map set shows a tailor in the basement and offices on the first and second floors of that building. The small sign posted on the second floor includes the word FACTORY. The CANDIES sign on the white building (1217-19 Race Street per the Sanborn map set) is the J. B. Wallace confectionery that is listed in the 1909 (and 1906) business directory with an address of 1217 Race Street. The BROWN & BEARD LAW OFFICE was upstairs. Clarence H. Beard and S. H. Brown are listed separately in the 1906 business directory at 1219 Race Street, but are listed together in the 1909 directory without an address.
The Maxim Building, according to the 1908 Sanborn map set, housed a restaurant and dry goods store on the first floor and an armory on the fourth floor. The building was built in 1902. Several businesses in this building had their names painted on the windows. The only such business on the top floor was the F. COFIELD DENTIST office. Frank J. Cofield is listed as a dentist in the Jennings Building in the 1909 business directory and isn’t listed in the 1906 directory. The advertising in the windows below the dentist’s office appears to include INSURANCE and AMERICA, but it’s unclear. Both Prudential and Metropolitan Life had offices in the building according to the 1909 business directory. Other offices on that floor were STEELE and TRACY, advertising INSURANCE, LOANS and REAL ESTATE. They are listed jointly in the 1909 business directory with an address of 302-03 Maxim Building. W. R. Steele was an attorney (ABSTRACTOR?). Next door (304 Maxim Building) was the HERBERT EVANS LAW OFFICE. The next windows advertise ABSTRACTOR, LOANS and INSURANCE. The name appears to be C. G. MORRIS, but is probably George G. Morris who is listed in a 1902 directory doing abstracts, real estate and loans in the Burr Block. He isn’t listed in the 1906 or 1909 directories. The next pair of windows on the third floor advertised DOCTOR FERRIS. This would be Dr. Edgar S. Ferris who is listed in the 1906 directory with an address on the 3rd floor of the Maxim Building. The 1909 directory lists him in the Burr Block.
The first windows on the second floor of the Maxim Building advertise the location of the WHITE DENTIST office. A. T. White is listed in both the 1906 and 1909 directories with an address of 200 Maxim Building. The next window advertises the REAL ESTATE, ____, INSURANCE and LOANS business of _. H. FISHER. The 1909 directory lists a James H. Fisher with an office in room 203 of the Maxim Building. The next window (Room 204?) advertises an ATTORNEY, but the name isn’t clear and doesn’t seem to match any listing in the 1906 or 1909 directories. The next windows advertise the JACKSON & HUNTER LAW OFFICE. The 1906 directory lists their address as 205-206 Maxim Building. In the 1909 directory, only Hunter is listed and the address is 204, 205 & 206 Maxim Building. The final window on the 2nd floor advertises BONDS, LOANS and RENTALS among other things. The name is T. WHITE. The 1906 directory lists Kulmer & White in Room 207 of the Maxim Building. The 1909 directory lists White & Millikan at that address under the insurance, real estate and loans business categories.
H. H. LOCKER had his HARNESS and STOVES business on the first floor of the Maxim Building when this photo was taken. The 1906 directory listed his business on Broad Street while the 1909 directory listed his address as 1211 Race Street (the Maxim Building).
Next door in the Masonic Temple is the FOX UNDERTAKER business. William A. Fox is listed in the “Funeral Directors” category with an address of 1209 Race Street in the 1909 directory. The address is 1207 in the 1906 directory. ALCAZAR can be seen above the main entry to this building. The 1909 directory lists the Alcazar Theater with an address of 1206 Race Street, but the correct address is probably 1205.
