Bought this with insurance money in 1985 to replace the stolen Canon AE1 I'd bought in 1978 to coincide with the birth of my first kid. It worked with the FD lenses I had for the AE1. Brilliant first camera with a chip inside. No auto-focus but worked with lovely Canon & 3rd party FD glass. Still works fine. Supplanted when Canon developed its EOS electronic link between lens and camera to coincide with the new EF lenses and auto-focus in the late 80s - but not for me till years later. Despite eventually getting a 2nd-hand EOS-1, this was my all-time favorite camera till very recently when digital SLRs developed some of the same capabilities (and more).... Had this insured for lots of money for ages till I saw the prices on eBay, whereupon I bought a 2nd one as a back-up in case it breaks down, which it shows no sign of doing: lens still worth more than the camera despite not being compatible with new Canon SLRs. That lens is amazing: maybe one day I can afford the equivalent in EF - though 1.6 crop means I get something like the same effect with the brilliant-value 85mm f/1.8 lens that is just so great for portraits.

Unfortunately, rain showers decided to pass through just as I got to the top....views (which otherwise would have been spectacular...) sucked!
1911 postmarked postcard view of a home and business in South Bend, Indiana. The postcard title identified the address as 626 Michigan Street and the street number was also above the door. A sign hanging on the porch identified the business as that of E. SPANGLE OPTICAL SPECIALIST. (That sign was reflective and probably glass.) A 1921 Polk directory for South Bend and Mishawaka listed Edson Spangle as an optometrist and optician at 303½ South Michigan Street with the home address the same. The 1917 Sanborn™ fire insurance map set for South Bend shows an undertaker’s business at that address, but the street addressing system may have changed between 1911 and 1921. The map set shows the house at 626 South Michigan Street with a porch similar to that in the postcard scene, but it’s not identical.
In this scene, the man is probably Edson Spangle and the women could be his wife and daughter. The family dog was on the porch with them. A sign in the window advertised FURNISHED ROOMS FOR RENT. The 1921 directory listed two other individuals living with the Spangles at the 303½ address.
There was a swing on the porch and an adult tricycle parked on the sidewalk. The tricycle had a basket on the back and a bell on the handlebar.
