Today, whilst sorting through some boxes which have been in storage for some while, I came across five tightly rolled exposed films, three of 127 size, one of 120 size and one of 116 size. Most of the images on the rolls are of personal family snaps, but there were a few that were worth a second look. This is one from one of the 127 rolls and was taken (probably) by my father on a Welsh-built Purma Camera.

Despite not being to this location for at least fifty years I instantly recognised where this photograph had been taken. My mother's sister lived in Cheltenham and it was a treat when visiting to be taken for a walk to the railway line. The location is the footbridge off Hollis Road which in turn is off Hatherley Road where my aunt and uncle lived. Other photos on the roll would seem to suggest a likely date is about 1954, but a year or two either way is possible.

The locomotive is one of the GWR 1400 Class 0-4-2T which was introduced in 1932. I've tried to enlarge the number but the identity is unclear, it's either 1431 or 1451, both of which were allocated to Gloucester during this period. It was a locomotive of this class that starred in the film "The Titfield Thunderbolt".

Yakisoba noodles. Basically glorified ramen, but oh so good. And brilliant engineering of phttp://flickr.com/photos/firelace/3234387760/ackaging.

This is an unashamedly nostalgic shot for me, because this is top camp.

I grew up in a small village in Norfolk, with around 30 pupils at the local primary school.

The lack of numbers didn't mean there were no cliques; at Gressenhall they were on gender grounds. The boys all hung around Top Camp, the girls around Long Camp. Top Camp was an amazing oak tree, with a root system that could be used as a parking garage for many Matchbox and Corgi cars.

The school is long closed (I remember the tears of the teachers as it was shut down) but Top Camp remains, although now it seems on its last legs.

This is Top Camp.

Starbucks has been working on this VIA product for more than 20 years and has a patent pending on the technology that will allow it to "absolutely replicate the taste of Starbucks coffee in an instant form.

So how does it taste?

First, the sachet content was extremely fine... so fine in fact that when I poured it out over steaming water, it turned a little gooey. Not a problem to me, but I was interested to see how soluble the entire mixture was. Without even stirring, the scent and color was strong and consistent. I'm not a coffee-drinker, but I'd say that the Italian Roast I sampled had a smooth texture / flavor down my palate. To me it felt as good as something traditionally brewed. Being instant definitely opens the coffee drinking potential in more situations.

Here's a video story behind Starbuck's VIA ready brew coffee and how you could get a sample mailed to you: news.starbucks.com/video_display.cfm?video_id=166

And no, this was an unsolicited review. I just wanted an excuse to practice using my Canon G9 camera.
