The use of film and, in particular, instant film still has a very strong appeal to me.
I am becoming disillusioned with the perfection of the digital photographic world and the now boring images it enables us all to make. It was a great novelty once and fun for a while but it can waste a lot of time in front of a screen when that time should be better spent doing other things.
Instant Reborn event started 2 days ago and quite a crowd gathered on this sunny Saturday afternoon in the store. I felt happy seeing familiar faces who were in our event 2 years ago, lingering around chit chatting with each other.
Interestingly camera people usually have quite decent stamping etiquette, not like those who make quite a mess stamping on the table and wasting so much postcards without reading instructions on the how-to.
The passport book is so much fun and from what I heard, many like the idea and decided to own one at HK$25.
Polaroid collector TM refurbished some 636 cameras and painted them black and white, added "Instant Reborn" face plates, there you go, a limited edition "Instant Reborn" camera for the event, at this stage only 10 pieces are available. A leather/camera/watch fanatic Jemmer helped to add a leather strap too. It also came with a nice cotton bag and is sold at HK$1395 with a free pack of PX-600 film.
I did sold an SX-70 and a few pack of films myself today to a lady who is going to give this as a gift to her husband. I forgot to ask her to take a picture with Dr. Land though, people from the community did this naturally and one of them looks very much alike Dr. Land :)
BTW, Mijonju came all the way from Tokyo to this event, I bet he will be having a lot of fun going through TM's camera collections tomorrow in a private appointment.
Although the exhibiting items are not as jam packed as in 2008, we do have some polaroid T-shirts, poster, SX-70 shutter button, straps, etc for sale. I wish I could have more time to create better contents, but the not so stable PX films did gave me a few hiccups. Anyway, I'm glad we have good support from the community, I can't wait for next week's talk in City University.
I will be updating more photos of this event to the Flickr set Instant Reborn 2010, stay tuned.

A got a box of 20 shots of Polaroid Type 53 as I ended up with a 545 holder that was included in a bunch of 4x5 sheet film holders. Only mod the Harman Titan Pinhole needed was to slacken off the screws on the holder springs. Bit disappointed in the cheap nasty screws they used. Stainless might have been nicer than these soft metal jobs.

This is a very simple way to construct your own puzzle, the cubes are enough stable without gluing, they could be made also by children (in school)...
Let's play :)
I'm unsure if I like this one or not. I changed my mind instantly after I uploaded it. I like the colours; at times. I guess my problems is I'm too easy and enjoy many styles of photography, as a result my style is all over the place. Although I think I've worked out one thing, I'd rather shoot landscape than portrait.
This free CJP record was made by Sonopresse Rotterdam around 1972. It has 2 sides: A. "My Baby Has Gone To The Schouwburg" (specially composed for CJP) by ICP (Instant Composers Pool) with Han Bennink (d), Willem Breuker (saxes & vocal), Willem van Manen (tb), Kees Klaver (tp), Michel Waisvisz (putney, synthesizer, mharm), Maarten van Regteren Altena (b).
B-side by Solution: "Divergence" (Tom Barlage). SLEEVE DESIGN by Dick Bruna. CJP means Cultureel Jongeren Paspoort and was for young people (15-25) to go for low prices to theater etc.

Interested in joining one of our Workshops, as a model or photographer: here's the place to be heard:
Shot of a local train yard (in York) with large amounts of front and rear tilt to create a sharp band of focus. Original looks better (even though it was cold and the instant film hadn't developed fully when I peeled it apart). Soon there'll be a black and white 4x5 of this...
I had to apply 'levels' in Gimp, so this may be a bit dark now (crappy monitor!)
