RESISTANCE
They chose the resistance
Facing furious winds,
Facing the threatening sea,
Facing the ravages of passing time,
Faced with the exodus of those who inhabited them and gave them life once.
They are small fishing villages, scattered by the hundreds along the coast
Some have emptied their lives, leaving only sparse traces,
Others have found the strength to resist, somehow...
In this cruel logic of modernity, there are losers and... survivors;
They resist as do these insignificant grains of sand jostled by the tides
Ingrained deeply in the hearts of those who inhabited them,
Inlaid in the soul and human history
Like those protective havens that sailors always found instinctively, even in bad weather
They chose the resistance
They chose persistence.

Staubbach Fall and Lauterbrunnen . Izakigur No. 1254.
Staubbach Fall
" The Staubbach Fall (German: Staubbachfall (sing.), lit.: dust creek fall) is a waterfall in Switzerland, located just west above Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Highlands. The waterfall drops 297 metres (974 ft) from a hanging valley that ends in overhanging cliffs above the Weisse Lütschine.
The stream, on reaching the verge of the rocky walls of the valley, forms a cascade so high that it is almost lost in spray before it reaches the level of the valley. After rain, and early in the season when fed by the melting snows, the Staubbach Fall is a very striking object. The force of the stream above the fall at such times is sufficient to carry the water clear of the precipice, and the whole mass descends in a condition of liquid dust, between spray and cloud, that sways to-and-fro with the gentlest breeze. In a dry summer, when the supply of water is much reduced, the effect is comparatively insignificant.
The falls were featured on the Swiss 3-centime postage stamp of the 1930s.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was inspired in 1779 on his second trip to Switzerland from Staubbachfall and wrote there his song of the spirits over the waters [2] :
Man's soul
Is like the water:
From heaven comes,
To heaven it rises,
And down again
To the earth it must,
Eternally changing.
Flows from the high,
steep rock face
The pure ray,
Then it dusts sweetly
In cloud waves
To the smooth rock,
And easily received, It
Walling veiling,
Leisrauschend down
to the depth.
If cliffs loom
The fall contrary,
it foams angrily
Gradually
the abyss.
In the shallow bed he
creeps down the valley of the meadow,
And in the smooth lake
her countenance graze
All the stars.
Wind is the wave
Lovely lover;
Wind mixes from the bottom
. Foaming waves.
Soul of man,
how are you like the water!
Fate of man,
how are you like the wind!
Ewig wechselnd.
Strömt von der hohen,
Steilen Felswand
Der reine Strahl,
Dann stäubt er lieblich
In Wolkenwellen
Zum glatten Fels,
Und leicht empfangen,
Wallt er verschleiernd,
Leisrauschend
Zur Tiefe nieder.
Ragen Klippen
Dem Sturz entgegen,
Schäumt er unmutig
Stufenweise
Zum Abgrund.
Im flachen Bette
Schleicht er das Wiesental hin,
Und in dem glatten See
Weiden ihr Antlitz
Alle Gestirne.
Wind ist der Welle
Lieblicher Buhler;
Wind mischt vom Grund aus
Schäumende Wogen.
Seele des Menschen,
Wie gleichst du dem Wasser!
Schicksal des Menschen,
Wie gleichst du dem Wind! "

The first bunches of daffodils are in the supermarkets now. I always think they look so insignificant with their tight buds but which break into flower soon in the warmth of the house.

Life is a great tapestry. The individual is only an insignificant thread in an immense and miraculous pattern.

Headlands walk along the Yorkshire Coast
As the farms look so tiny perched atop these powerful cliffs, it made me consider how that we may think our mark on the planet is insignificant, but if we look again more closely we find that is not the case. As a group over 8 billion strong, our actions are destroying this wonderful gift of earth and we are fools if we think this can continue.
Please take a minute to press L and view in large!
La souche de l'arbre
IN EXPLORE - July 20, 2022
Parfois une chose insignifiante inspire la prise de vue. Cette souche d'arbre , en bord de rivière, avec les nuages comme reflets, à tout de suite attiré mon regard.
Sometimes an insignificant thing inspires the shot. This tree stump, along the river, with the clouds as reflections, immediately caught my eye.
I never forget an appointment, I am never late, but sometimes I have the feeling that I have forgotten things that are often insignificant 😉

The little white house on Buttermere seems insignificant against the giant mountain backdrop. The lake with these mountains all around, what an awe inspiring view.
The days just seem to pass insignificantly during this pandemic. I have discovered I thrive on being around people, eating out and just being among friends and family. I know....most of us are staying safe and I am very grateful for that. I realize now a bit better though, what's most important in life and that human contact is very much necessary.
The monster of the forest floor
Will tickle your shins
Will grab your ankles
Will laugh at you when you fall.
Will pull your ribs apart.
The monster of the forest floor has
Sharp jagged tentacles
To feel for all the precarious humans that will
Stumble across it
Not noticing the devastating beauty surrounding them
It doesn’t care about your crowded hospitals
Just like you didn’t care enough about it
when it was first a tree, giving you shelter
All you saw was the forest as a whole
Nothing unique….and nothing to fight for.
So, now, it will have its revenge
*****
There were a lot of people who disappeared in the forest.
We didn’t know how they managed to vanish.
They didn’t answer their cell phone nor their emails
We thought they were living “off the grid"
We thought we needed to respect their privacy.
The monster of the forest floor
knew a different truth
Pulled them under and ate them up
They were just an insignificant part of a vast whole and
They were never seen again.

when the sky at dusk becomes an abstract canvas so vibrant, with limitless imagination and pure majesty, that all events and cares of this illusory world become insignificant ....
At Ynys there have been some new benches added to the
viewing points for the best stunning views and photographs that can be taken in this area.
A short walk exploring the tidal island at the edge of Snowdonia
Overlooked by the Moelwyn Mountains that stand just in front of Snowdon, and the Rhinogs to the south east, the small island of Ynys Gifftan is a distinctive and unique feature of the Dwyryd Estuary.
Look across the estuary at high tide and Ynys may seem insignificant, unworthy of exploration and impossible to visit without a boat. But visitors prepared to roll their trousers up can be rewarded with an adventure unlike any other.
This short walk to the tidal island at the foot of Snowdonia is particularly enjoyable in the summer months, when waters have absorbed the heat of the sun.
Scattered...
From life to death, everything has its season and everything has its time, though ever so brief. our time here is but a vapour, a mist that is here today and gone tomorrow. At times life seems so futile and insignificant. yet there is one to whom your life is more precocious than gold.
Take time to remember we are all significant and valuable in his eyes.

Looking out to sea is one of things that reminds me how small we are.
Taken on Weybourne beach, Norfolk, England.
Maybe that's why politicians don't seem to be in touch with the rest of us they spend too much time flying.
Taken on flight from Prague to Belgrade.
There is nothing insignificant in the world. It all depends on the point of view.
I can't conceive the nucleus of all
Begins inside a tiny seed
And what we think as insignificant
Provides the purest air we breathe
But who am I to doubt or question the inevitable being
For these are but a few discoveries
We find inside the Secret Life of Plant
"There is nothing insignificant in the world. It all depends on the point of view."

Ever since I recently decided to try getting some shots of the Milky Way, I find myself looking forward to the new moon each month during Milky Way season. I plan my vacations and camping trips around the new moon, and enjoy looking for interesting objects that I can use to frame the shots. The night sky has an interesting way of making me feel pretty insignificant, but is very relaxing and is good therapy (for not worrying about small stuff I guess)!
The 'silver bullet' is sometime so slow it's painful. Nobody really calls it 'silver bullet', I just made it up. The Toronto subway is not reaching to too many places, but it is adequate, as except for downtown, people still prefer the car. Even the subway northern extension was built back in 2002, the 5 new station are under-used by Torontonians. The time of the train is of course insignificant (the trains leave every few minutes), but it fits well in a title of insignificant photo.
