Its summer and whenever I run the water there are beetles. wasps and other insects dropping by for a drink...
This roseate skimmer posed for me for at least 10 minutes. He just sat on that branch and let me come very close and take shots from several angles.
Catopsilia florella. Non-'yellow' form.
Rusty fellow. Got it when leisurely feeding on nectar.

Digger wasp Ectemnius sp. It took off from my finger but landed back on a sunchair for a while before taking off again and disappearing
That ubiquitous noise on hot summer evenings is the sound of male cicadas vibrating their tymbal membranes to attract a female resulting in a "song" as loud as 120 dB. The constant chorus in our yard is most annoying!
