Dude. DUDE. The front of a dragonfly's head looks like some kind of hobo king mask. WTF. Bugs up close are awesome.
I've had a couple of goes at these, but Can't anything online. Any help would be very appreciated. Particularly like the grey and black Bee
This beetle was on fine granite. It was taken in February 2007 so it is one of my old ones. I am not sure if it was ever posted to Flickr because most of my photos from those days are not listed as Flickr ones. I need to check the SET on Flickr to be sure but I am running late. Gone for the day.
Very camera shy and may be it was the speedlight therefore I made only 5 shots. I like this one best from this series.
Spiny stick insect (Haaniella echinata) - Malua Forest Reserve, Malaysia
The phasmid diversity in Borneo was pretty incredible, its difficult to say how many species I encountered but I'd say more than in any other place I have spent time in. This was a cool species, very heavy bodied and spiky as you can see here. This one was photographed as found as it munched on a leaf. I came across this species multiple times during my night hikes, I don't recall if I ever saw any during the day.
Found this guy on the floor of my office when I got into work this morning. I quickly tried to get a sheet of white paper under him to take a couple of shots with my new Tamron 17 - 50 lens. Turns out he was a bit camera shy and he resented being photographed and jumped at me while I was focusing which in turn made me jump even higher. So I thought I should let him get back to the business of keeping the office cockroach population under control. Sydney Australia.
