A photo I took a couple of weeks ago, edited and forgot. I always have trouble photographing insects on wheat because on whatever mode i'm on, my camera won't focus. Luckily this time it did focus (not for long though) and I got this.

The coloring of different species of grasshopper are often dependent on environment. Many species are adapted to green fields and forests, and blend in well there to avoid predators. Others have adapted to drier, sandy environments and blend in well with the colors of dry dirt and sand.

This one landed perfectly for me to focus on it. Seen far more of these this year than last

If you want Monarch Butterflies, plant some Milkweed. They are forever entwined in each others lifecycle as well as plenty of other actors in the process. My back porch this afternoon.
