Batcheller Mansion Inn, Saratoga Springs, New York

My sixth entry into Colossal Castle Contest XIII in the Haunted Inn Category.

This was taken in the parlor area inside the Bridgeport Inn. This where you check into your room and then sit down and enjoy the wood stove. The stove has its own history as it came from the ghost town of Bodie. The inn is located about 20 miles north of Mono Lake. The was built in 1877 and has a lot of character. Downstairs also has a restaurant and a bar. The bedrooms were all upstairs and have been modernized. This was a great place to stop over before going back the other side of the Sierras.

I have been waiting for a sunny day with snow for this shot specifically. i am not sure if I am totally happy with this composition so I may keep trying.

The Freemasons Tavern (also known as the Freemasons Inn and the Freemasons Inn and Restaurant) is a 19th-century pub in the Brunswick Town area of Hove, part of the English city of Brighton and Hove.

Built in the 1850s in a Classical style similar to the surrounding buildings in the rapidly growing Brunswick Town area, it was given a "spectacular" renovation when a restaurant was added in the 1920s. Local architecture firm Denman & Sondesigned an ornate Art Deco interior and an elaborate, brightly coloured entrance adorned with Masonic symbols. both the exterior and the interior survive in excellent condition.

The tavern is a Grade II Listed building.

Went to Hobbiton today, had a great day, the place is so twee and picturesque, all the little Hobbit Holes were too cute! This is the Inn where all the Hobbits relax.

The drive leading up to the Inn where one could drive up and leave your car with the chauffeur (though they had public lots too).

The Inn was built in 1913 and was a place for folks to get away from it all and catch up on health and healing.

It has a commanding view of nearby Asheville and the mountains around.

Built in 1849 by Judge John A. Ripley, this stage coach stop and tavern served travelers and farmers in Des Moines County Iowa. Local Indians also visited here. Each room was heated by an iron stove, instead of the traditional fireplaces of the time. It later became an antique store and currently sits abandoned.

The end of the road in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. Also the beginning of some of the Park's most scenic hiking trails.

"In 1933, 27 cabins were built by the Superior Building Company and the area became known as the “Many Glacier Auto Tourist Camp". In 1934, President F.D. Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps constructed the campground that is just south of the Inn and the cabins in circles D and I. The present general store was built in 1935 to provide service for campers.

Swiftcurrent is the stepping-off place for the trails that lead over Swiftcurrent Pass. Trails also lead to Iceberg Lake and Ptarmigan Lake through the unique 183-foot Ptarmigan Tunnel that was constructed for use by horseback riders as well as hikers. It is 6 feet wide, 9 feet tall, and has an arched ceiling. Swiftcurrent is truly a hiker’s paradise."

Stein am Rhein is a historic town and a municipality in the canton of Schaffhausen in Switzerland.

At the point where Lake Constance again becomes the Rhine River, there is to be found the little town of Stein am Rhein. It is famous for its well-preserved Old Town featuring painted facades and half-timbered houses, for which it received the very first Wakker Prize.

Stein am Rhein is a lively and very charming small town. Among the sights are the Monastery of St. Georgen, one of the best-preserved Medieval monastery complexes, the Lindwurm Museum depicting 19th century bourgeois and agricultural life as well as the holiday areas and excursion destinations that include the island group of Werd. The Hohenklingen Castle, which was built high above the town in 1225, brings to life the colorful history of Stein am Rhein.

It is here that the oldest house of worship in the Canton of Schaffhausen is found, a church dedicated to St. John the Baptist in the midst of wall remnants of the Roman fortress Tasgetium, which was built in the 3rd century A.D.

Just outside of my subdivision is Innes Lake named after Major Innes one of the founders of Port Macquarie.

Not a real inn, this compound known as Club Ed was created as a movie set in the boonies between Palmdale and Lake Los Angeles, CA.

Guarded Inn - also known as The Bacon House

The MOC shows an inn built around a tower belonging to old castle ruins. The place is known for different types of pork from own breeding. The inn also runs hotel services.

At the moment, in the courtyard, we see several banqueters, innkeeper checking the roasting pig and two waitresses taking care of guests. One of them is roughly adored by a client.

A fresh group of consumers comes in - soldiers and their not too bright master returning from a medium-successful military expedition.

On the right below, the stable is being cleaned, and higher on the wall a boy pretending to be a guard (an element of the decoration) consumes his fee.

On the left back, the innkeeper prepares himself for the pig slaughter, while a swine thief tries to lure one of the fine specimen from the pigsty.

Not sure if anyone stays here now, but Hartley was once an important stopping spot for travellers heading west back in the day.
