Over the last 9 months, with some crazy life stuff going on, ive had very little chance to add to flickr. The main thing taking my build time though, was this behemoth. It was originally designed by Corvus Auriac MOCs for a client as a digital commission, before it came to me for re-engineering and a set of buildable instructions designed for it. This was such an amazing and grand project, starting at 12,000approx pieces, and ending with a grand total of 18,500approx once the interiors, modularisation and landscaping was done. I designed removable frames for the left and right edges, so its able to continue on, should the grand new owner decide it needs further landscape/town. it came to a total of 1697 pages for the instruction booklet. Quite a hefty and ultra enjoyable project and super pumped to have been brought on board for it! All the parts were sourced in one order by Aussie Brickster, on Bricklink.. it has been such a great and international team effort!

Stayed here in Austin, Texas. Cheap....but a tad scary.

In Pipestone Minnesota. Built of locally quarried quartzite. Rumor has it the Inn is haunted, although we had no luck meeting the ghost. (Or ghosts).

The Mission Inn, now known as The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, is a historic landmark hotel in downtown Riverside, California. Although a composite of many architectural styles, it is generally considered the largest Mission Revival Style building in the United States.

It was raining so much we had to cancel a part of our plans that day unfortunately. The good thing about photography is that no matter what kind of condition it is or wherever you are, there will always be an opportunity for a good photo.

Day 221

Phil took me to the Salutation Inn in Ham. It has won several CAMERA awards including National Pub of the Year in 2014 and Gloucestershire CAMRA Pub of the Year 2014 & 2015. It is a real treat coming here!

We stayed the night at the Berkely Arms and visited a couple of pubs in the town, including the one at the hotel. For a Sunday night, it was surprisingly busy!

Thank you Phil xx

Not far up the road was the infamous Epping Forest. There's not much left of the forest today, but a little settlement with that name still exists. It's best known today as a truck stop.

But the Epping Forest was the reason why Cleveland had two highway inns. It was a stopping spot for travellers and coachmen to rest before making the somewhat dangerous trip through the forest.

For this was bushranger territory. Highwaymen and outlaws who terrorised the little settlements and held up coaches. This sort of scene is immortalised by Tom Robert's great painting, "Bailed Up" (1895). www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/collection/works/833/

A couple of the raucous peacocks strutting their stuff at the Strines Inn, Bradfield Dale, Sheffield.

Built in 1857. It originally operated as the "Sleeping Bear House". The inn primarily served lumberjacks and dock workers in its early days. It later would be popular among tourists visiting the area. As business declined the the inn would later close in 1973. This building (and the rest of the town) would later be purchased by the National Park Service and restored. Sadly the inn is still closed to this day but it may reopen again in the near future.

A quaint little B&B in Preston, Minnesota with nice rooms and a very good breakfast. You can even sentence yourself to a term in one of the beautifully decorated jail cells.

The Benbow Historic Inn, a Garberville resort in the redwoods, was designed by architect Albert Farr, who was most noted for The Wolf House—the home he designed for author Jack London in Glen Ellen, CA. Farr was commissioned by the Benbow family to create the cornerstone for the resort community they intended to build in their 1,290 acre valley.

The “Hotel Benbow” (as it was originally called) opened to the public in July of 1926. Built by the Benbow family—nine talented brothers and sisters who also constructed the Benbow Dam, Power Company, and later, the Golf Course and RV Park. The hotel became a popular destination for motoring tourists traveling up the newly-completed Redwood Highway.

The combination of seclusion and elegant hospitality also served as quite an attraction for the early Hollywood elite. Spencer Tracy, Clark Gable, Alan Ladd, Charles Laughton, Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald, Joan Fontaine, Basil Rathbone were all patrons of the Inn. Dignitaries such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover and Lord Halifax also enjoyed the Benbow hospitality.

The Beresford Arms Inn on the north side of Gilles Street, Adelaide, is the oldest surviving hotel building in South Australia. Constructed in 1839 it was first licensed in March 1840. Known as the Oddfellows' Arms from late 1856 to 1861.

Towering above the thundering falls of the Grand River and Elora Gorge, the Elora Mill Hotel & Spa has been a part of the Elora community for over 175 years. This breathtaking 19th century grist mill has been converted into a country inn, and is in the heart of Ontario’s Festival Country. The mill has been closed for some time but is presently being refurbished. The development will transform the scenic downtown Elora community into a bustling tourist hub, attracting guests from Ontario and beyond. The idea is to create a mixed-use development that incorporates hotel and event facilities, a destination spa, training and education programs, outdoor activities and a restaurant. It is expected to re-open in the spring of 2018.

The Inveraray Inn: Described as "The Great Inn" when completed in 1755, and later known as the Argyll Arms Hotel. Many famous people stayed here, including James Boswell and Samuel Johnson, Robert Burns and Dorothy Wordsworth. A less than delighted Burns wrote of his stay in 1787: There's naething here but Highland pride, And Highland scab and hunger: If Providence has sent me here, 'Twas surely in his anger.
