This is the island of Inner Holm, in Stromness Harbor. There's just the one house, but they have a Land Rover. And I thought parking was tough in San Francisco. Apparently, the real story is that one can drive off the island at low tide. I wonder how much longer that will be true.
Here is another shot of the inside of the same slot machine. I don't know what it does but I'm sure the whole thing wouldn't work right if I got rid of it.

Mt. Kailash Inner Parikrama (Kora)
Mt. Kailash (6714m), Asia's most sacred mountain, is located in a high and isolated enclave of West Tibet . It is one of three pilgrimages sites in the area, known collectively as Kangri Tsosum. All are said to be at the heart of the ancient Shangshung kingdom, the supposed land of origin of the pre-Buddist Bonpos. Mt Kailash is their sould-mountain, which they also call Yungdrung Gu Tse, the Nine-story Swastika Mountain .
It is a 53-km pilgrim path around Mt. Kailash . It begins and ends at Darchen, a small settlement at the mountain south base and in the process visits four monasteries crosses the high Drolma La Pass (5636m). Three days is perhaps the minimum time required to walk leisurely around the mountain: spend two nights in or near Drira Phuk and Zutrul Phuk Monasteries. If conditions permit, try to stay four or five days, which would allow time for short trips to the inner regions of the area.

My city-touring bike with skinny tires. Was such a pain in the ass finishing this race with this bike...going up hills just treading away in the mud. Wiped out two times when flying down the hills in the slippery mud. Will never forget this experience. Was raining off and on. Was stuck in the middle of thunderstorms in wide open fields and thought I was going to get struck by lightning and was seriously contemplating to stop and lay down in the field so I didn't get hit
Decided to post this photo of the inner structure of the previous Covered Bridge. Certainly, they were well constructed to last, function, and with standing much travel. Even heavy loads were apart of the planning many years ago, looking to the future may have only been done in their days, for they work very hard and slept deeply.

Work in a group to learn how these machines work and build a model machine that can pick up an object, direct light and more.

The basin (elev about 9700 feet at this point) is ringed by the San Francisco peaks. Schultz Peak (I think) is in the background here.
We hiked about another three-quarters of a mile up from here into the transition area to sprucifer pine forest before the wind and increasingly threatening clouds turned us back. One of these days we'll hit the Humphreys summit from this side.
The aspens and maples are starting to turn. Next weekend: Fall foliage!

It was such a calm Autumn night in Victoria, I had to capture this long exposure mirror image reflection in the Inner Harbour.
Shot for 20 seconds at f/22, ISO 320, full out at 28mm on a 28-300mm lens on my Nikon D600.
