Friends of the Inner-City Forum got together at Lorna Court in the inner-city of Johannesburg, 18 July 2009. Residents spent 67 minutes cleaning the building as part of Mandela Day celebrations. Lorna Court was damaged by a fire in 2006 leaving more than 300 residents homeless.

Touching this big steel Gurder that is twisted like a pretzel was a very emotional moment.

Withered and abused by social critisism we tend to put on a mask to hide the vibrant, gifted person God created.
For this panorama I used a total of 10 pictures, but that included the two finger photos so it would be a little larger since the panorama was taken in small increments. From photoshop, I cropped the panorama to exclude the fingers and saved as a jpg file.
I can't express how lucky I feel being able to work with such a great organization. Everyday, I come to work and witness the impact we make on our students' lives everyday.

He was a resident from 1991 to 2006. He hopes that the building would be restored to its former glory and that he would be able to move back.

After introduction of its first hard helmet in 1948 (the M-1) the US Navy and Marine Corps soon changed to a version with reinforcing ribs during the Korean War. It consisted of a hard outer helmet combined with a cloth inner helmet. This H-3 was soon superseded by the improved H-4 we see here. This remained in use by the American navy during the fifties until the early sixties.

Mt. Kailash Inner Parikrama (Kora)
Mt. Kailash (6714m), Asia's most sacred mountain, is located in a high and isolated enclave of West Tibet . It is one of three pilgrimages sites in the area, known collectively as Kangri Tsosum. All are said to be at the heart of the ancient Shangshung kingdom, the supposed land of origin of the pre-Buddist Bonpos. Mt Kailash is their sould-mountain, which they also call Yungdrung Gu Tse, the Nine-story Swastika Mountain .
It is a 53-km pilgrim path around Mt. Kailash . It begins and ends at Darchen, a small settlement at the mountain south base and in the process visits four monasteries crosses the high Drolma La Pass (5636m). Three days is perhaps the minimum time required to walk leisurely around the mountain: spend two nights in or near Drira Phuk and Zutrul Phuk Monasteries. If conditions permit, try to stay four or five days, which would allow time for short trips to the inner regions of the area.
