The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, commonly known as Inner Temple, is one of the four Inns of Court (professional associations for barristers and judges) in London. To be called to the Bar and practise as a barrister in England and Wales, an individual must belong to one of these Inns. It is located in the wider Temple area of the capital, near the Royal Courts of Justice, and within the City of London.

The Inn is a professional body that provides legal training, selection, and regulation for members. It is ruled by a governing council called "Parliament", made up of the Masters of the Bench (or "Benchers"), and led by the Treasurer, who is elected to serve a one-year term. The Temple takes its name from the Knights Templar, who originally leased the land to the Temple's inhabitants (Templars) until their abolition in 1312. The Inner Temple was a distinct society from at least 1388, although as with all the Inns of Court its precise date of founding is not known. After a disruptive early period (during which the Temple was almost entirely destroyed in the Peasants' Revolt) it flourished, becoming the second largest Inn during the Elizabethan period (after Gray's Inn).

The Inner Temple expanded during the reigns of James I and Charles I, with 1,700 students admitted between 1600 and 1640. The First English Civil War's outbreak led to a complete suspension of legal education,[1] with the Inns close to being shut down for almost four years. Following the English Restoration the Inner Templars welcomed Charles II back to London personally with a lavish banquet.

After a period of slow decline in the 18th century, the following 100 years saw a restoration of the Temple's fortunes, with buildings constructed or restored, such as the Hall and the Library. Much of this work was destroyed during The Blitz, when the Hall, Temple, Temple Church, and many sets of chambers were devastated. Rebuilding was completed in 1959, and today the Temple is a flourishing and active Inn of Court, with over 8,000 members.

The original Inner Temple Hall is the Hall or refectory of the original Knights Templar building on the site, and has been dated to the 8th century. It was extensively repaired in 1606 and 1629, but was still in poor condition in 1816. Despite this, little was done at that time but replacing the timbers which had gone rotten and patching the crumbling walls with brick.[65] As a result of the poor condition and the increasing numbers of barristers, it was demolished in 1868.[66]

Its replacement was a larger hall in the Gothic style, designed by Sydney Smirke, which was opened on 14 May 1870 by Princess Louise. The new Hall was 94 feet long, 41 feet wide and 40 feet high, with glass windows featuring the coats of arms of noted Treasurers from 1506 onwards running around the room.[67] There were two doors, one to the south and one to the north, which are said by William Dugdale to be the remnants of a "great carved screen" erected in 1574.[68]

The Hall was destroyed during the Second World War, and the foundation stone for the new hall was laid by Queen Elizabeth in 1952.[47] The building was designed by Hubert Worthington and opened in 1955 as part of a complex involving the Hall, Library and Benchers' Chambers.

A postcard made from one of my paintings.

Completely smooth on the inside of the shirt - feels lovely to wear.

This tee shirt was crafted using the the Tee for Two pattern from Patterns by Figgys, a favorite of mine. The entire inside of the shirt is finished smoothly with no seams, making for ultra-comfortable wear. The public face of the garment has distressed-seam detail and raw-edge hems.

The shirt is a 100% rayon knit that is super-super-soft and lightweight. Will feel wonderfully cool on tot's skin.

we must play our lives like soldiers in the field

but life is short

i'm running faster all the time

strength and beauty destined to decay

so cut the rose in full bloom.

'til the fearless come and the act is done

a love like blood, a love like blood

everyday through all frustration and despair

love and hate fight with burning hearts

'til legends live and man is god again

and self-preservation rules the day no more.

we must dream of promised lands and fields

that never fade in season

as we move towards no end we learn to die

red tears are shed on grey.

a different version of inner child. im still a kid at heart ^^

I'm fascinated by lights reflected on water, so I took a lot of pictures at Baltimore's inner harbor. Still not quite there, but not entirely dissatisfied. Cropped to 16x9 for use as an abstract background.

As a Liftman, I have advantage over others to take shots like this. This inner Marina road, Lagos Nigeria. The traffic is good on this end these days. Watchout for my smiling camera at work on a hectic traffic day!.

The Inner Harbor is a historic seaport, tourist attraction, and iconic landmark of the City of Baltimore, Maryland. The name "Inner Harbor" is used not just for the water but for the surrounding area of the city, with approximate street boundaries of President Street to the east, Lombard Street to the north, Greene Street to the west, and Key Highway on the south. The harbor is within walking distance of Oriole Park at Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium and has a water taxi that connects the Inner Harbor to Fells Point, Canton, and Fort McHenry.
