I injected some flowers with Agave Nectar to give this Honeybee a reason to let me get close. Even though this shot is cropped I kept the aspect ratio the same as the un-cropped image (2:3) and Photoshop Elements 2022 up-sampled it, so it is still a 32MP photo.
Tech Specs: Canon 90D (F11, 1/125, ISO 200) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (set to about 1.5x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT, E-TTL metering, -2/3 FEC. This is a single, cropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Denoise AI and Clarity in that order. Shutter and ISO set to expose the sky in the background.

Prior to 2020, most Reading & Northern fall Foliage trains would run with a pair of the roads striking SD40-2s, or on select weekends 4-6-2 no. 425. However with the addition of T-1 no. 2102 coming back to life, and the purchase of new diesel power, the 2022 fall season on the R&N has been a stark contrast to years prior. With either a monstrous 4-8-4, or a 4 pack of magnificent black and white diesels, the R&N has something for every Railfan. On October 9th, for the first time on a fall Foliage train, former Norfolk Southern F9A 270 and F7B 275 led the 12 car foliage train solo. At Port Clinton the B unit shut down and refused to restart thanks to a faulty fuel injector pump, so F9A 270 is seen here dragging the B unit and all 12 cars southbound at Pulpit, and putting on quite the show in the process!

Technique: I injected artificial nectar into a Lavender flower and when the honeybee started feeding on it I grabbed onto the stem of the lavender flower with my left hand, and then rested the lens on that same hand to help keep the scene steady. Then we played a game where I'd frame and compose the scene only for her to move at the last second ;)
Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 200 with highlight tone priority) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (over 2x) + a diffused MT-24EX (both flash heads on the Canon flash mount, E-TTL metering with -1 1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. Image taken in 2016 but I'm just now getting around to processing it.
Do not worry, this is black current sirop on my dirty hands, HMM!
A picture is worth a thousand words, this one for the many people addicted to drugs and suffering as they poisoned themselves day after day.

Snake predation by Shawn Miller
-- As of March 2018, The Pryers Keelback (Hebius pryeri) is considered a venomous snake found throughout the Ryukyu Islands. They are rear-fanged and require a strong long-term chewing style bite to inject the venom into the wound.
Are you using my Flickr photos as a reference guide to help identify your finds? If so, please consider making a contribution. Help Me Make The Difference

injecting a little more color into the stream, I went back and reworked this shot a bit larger and hopefully crisper...from 2005, before I knew about "foregrounds" :-)
Hand injected. Crated for extra protection. Available at Brickmania in very limited quantities at the moment.
• 4 different proto molds needed too produce them.
• Body is triple overmolded in 100% ABS plastic - gunmetal over brown over brass ABS.
• Ammo cells are trans blue ABS, injected over brass ABS, and are snug, but removable (with a little force).
Dyed orchid roots.
Professional growers inject dye into the stems of white orchids to create colours not found in Nature.
The dye leaves a tell tale stain on the stems and roots.
This orchid had striking multi-coloured flowers.
The flowers died back naturally and now, a few months later new shoots are appearing.
It is likely to revert to its original colour now, so I will be very curious to see what appears.
Week 39 Macro 2022
While changing the plastic in the injector, I run "transition" shots.
Sometimes. the colors happen to mix perfectly.

I decided to inject a bit of color into my stream after posting black and whites for the past few days. This is an image I took back in the Spring on a hike I did with my friend Tom up Ruckel Creek to the waterfalls there. My pinhole at the time was loaded with 100 speed film, so in the shady glen of the falls, my exposures were all about four minutes long. This can be a bit of an inconvenience, as it not only ties up my camera, but my tripod too. But I have also found that it is a blessing in disguise. When you are forced into such long exposures, it sure makes you put some thought into how you are going to invest that time. You do not haphazardly shoot willy-nilly! As I have also said before, it is nice to be able to set my camera up for such long exposures, put everything else down, and just wander and roam for a few minutes without having to think about photography at all. One of the hidden benefits of being a pinhole photographer. ;-)
On a side note, I was looking at this and thinking my composition could have been a bit better, even though, granted, I am shooting a camera without a viewfinder and going just by best judgment. The composition is not bad, I just wish I had not cut off the rock on the left side. Generally speaking, when composing an image, try to keep attention-drawing elements from intersecting the edge of your photo. They will draw the eye to them, and then right out of the frame. But this is just a minor point against this photo for me, I still like it quite a bit. It is quiet, just like the spot where I photographed it.

We left early for the monkey temple
with supplies, food and monthly
medicine. All the dogs were
injected and Mr Mickey
was given 3 shots.
Two boosters.
Special food was handed off to
the nuns and Mr Kind Monk too.
Extra time was spent with Rocky ;-)
Yo-Yo was real happy to see us too
as were all of the temple dogs.
No# 1 helped the nuns preparing for
some kind of event coming soon.
She might also go on a trip
up north with them
next week ?
By the time we returned home both
of us were extremely hungry but
first 6 more dogs need to be
injected. Then they too
were fed, then we
made breakfast
for ourselves.
Mr Rocky stayed with me most of the
time we were there. Yo-Yo kept
crowding in but Rocky
stood his ground.
Our first stop is at Mr Kind Monks place,
both Ms Molly and Perfesser Bears
dog, Mr Blondie went bananas.
As of right now all the dogs are happy.
After eating a small breakfast I laid
down for a short nap that became
a real long one. The price we pay.
Thank You.

Personal injected nunchucks. :)
Black and silver- and they look amazing! I have like 4 that I overmolded for myself. First pair too.
Injected specially for someone at Brickfair.

Song: Injected with a poison (1992)
Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQorUTqkSpY
Category: 1 (Acid House)
Due to the repetitious nature of the lyrics (it’s Acid house from 1992 not Gilbert & Sullivan), I’ll edit it back to certain lines of relevance :
Injected with a poison!
There's a rainbow inside the mind….
Injected with a poison!
We don't need that anymore.
Free your body, Feel the energy
Free your body, I'm in ecstasy
Free your body, Use your fantasy
Free your body…..
Injected with a poison!
Are you listening to me?

I Hope your New Year was off to a good start! :)
Unfortunately, I feel run down for weeks now and have to get me out of this mood first. I will stop my flickr activity for that reason. (Perhaps there will be some exceptions - Heaven knows...)
Have fun! :)

Off to be Covid-19 immunised today. It took a while as there were a lot of people queueing to go through the cattle sheds. The irony! I feel much better now that the nanobots are working with the 5G signal.
Must D-E-S-T-R-O...... oh no!
I’m cropped right into an image shot at 400mm here. I’m REALLY pleased with the quality of the RAW image, it’s tack sharp at 100%, and even at 300% there is no camera shake and very little visible noise. The Canon 100-400 v2 is a beast of a lens!
What I’ve learnt though, is it performs much better at the highest possible shutter speed, which makes it perfect for scenes like this with no foreground, where I can shoot wide open.
As far as the subject goes here this is a typical prairie winter scene, coupled with a stunning sunset which often seems to accompany the extreme cold we are getting right now; this was shot in about -23C...the gloves did NOT stay off for long!
I had some shots where the sun pillar was directly over the pump jack, but this was my favourite of the session as a truck had just kicked up the gravel on the range road behind the pump. I’m finding this technique quite useful, we seem to rarely get mist around here, and this is a way injecting a bit of mood into the image.
As far as the edit goes, I hardly touched it. Brought out the white in the snow a bit and added a bit of clarity. Actually desaturated it slightly as the orange was too intense and looked a little garish.
Predatory Reduviidae uses the long rostrum to inject lethal saliva that liquefies the insides of the prey, which are then sucked out. The saliva contains enzymes that digest the tissues they swallow. This process is generally referred to as extraoral digestion. The saliva is commonly effective at killing prey substantially larger than the bug itself.
Large specimens should be handled with caution, if at all, because they sometimes defend themselves with a very painful stab from the proboscis.
