Independence Hall is where both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were debated and adopted. The building was completed in 1753 and was the Pennsylvania State House. It was the principle meeting place of the Second Continental Congress from 1775 to 1783 and was the site of the Constitutional Convention in 1787.

Independence Mine and Mill is a historic gold mining site near Victor, Colorado on the south slope of Battle Mountain. Between late 1893 and April 1899, approximately 200,000 ounces of gold was removed from the Independence Mine.

1027 Morning in Independence, California.

Independence began as the US Army Camp Independence (two miles north of the current town) established by Lieutenant Colonel George S. Evans on July 4, 1862. Colonel Evans established the camp at the request of local settlers who feared hostilities from the local indigenous tribes. The camp was soon closed, but was re-established as Fort Independence when hostilities resumed in 1865. The fort was finally abandoned in 1877, and it is currently a reservation for the Fort Independence Indian Community of Paiute Indians.

December 06th, Finland celebrated 100 years of independence. To mark this day, they lit up the mountain Saana in Kilpisjärvi. We wa just lucky enough to be there to see that :D

Looking west just after sunset at Independence Pass, Colorado. At elevation 12,095 ft., it is the third highest pass traversed by an improved road in Colorado.

 

The color in the sky is from smoke created by wildfires in southwestern Colorado.

I may not have been born in the United States ((Krull was born in Tyria)) but that doesn't mean I don't love my new home any less. I'm celebrating the 4th the way any Charr would. Explosives, guns, beer and monster trucks! Thankfully I still have all my fingers and toes this morning. The partying last night kept me from getting this out the day of, but I think you'll enjoy it none the less. Happy 242nd America!

June 12 is the Philippine Independence Day. I was not able to shoot at the events. I stayed home and shoot macros. No image manipulation. True reflection of the flag.

descending Independence Pass, Continental divide, Colorado, 12,095 feet. I remembered this picture today because I was so impressed by the clarity of the mountains at a distance despite the rain. Today is raining in Texas and I just registered my vehicle to this state...sad day. No such view anywhere near this place.

Today is the day our founding fathers declared Americas independence from Great Britian by ratifying the Declaration of Independence. In this document contained a sentence that has motivated the American revolution and many other revolutions across the world.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
