Have a wonderful holiday all!
On the anniversary celebrating the declaration of independence from England and the birth of democracy in the United States, this large mature bald eagle showed up near our house, its feathers ruffled after hearing rumors of an attempted coups d'etat and questionable decisions by the high court of the land. Hoping democratic order would remain, it eventually spread its wings and took off.
Wildflowers are still blooming in the foreground with the Independence Gold Mine far back and in the center of the photograph. This was a lovely day in the Talkeetna Mountains, looking rather verdant with large clouds roaming the sky. The gently curving sides tell the story that there was a glacier here in the past, very interesting as we're near the top of the mountains at this point.

Sete de setembro, o Dia da Pátria, quando todas as cidades brasileiras se tingem de verde e amarelo. Dia de desfile e manifestações de civismo, que deveriam se repetir amiúde, espontaneamente.

The Nelson House in Yorktown, VA, is part of the Colonial National Historical Park. The house was built about 1730.
It was the home of Thomas Nelson, Jr. (1738-89), Yorktown's most famous son and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
During the Battle of Yorktown in 1781, the town was occupied by British forces. The house was damaged during the bombardment of the town.
Cannon balls have been placed in the walls to indicate damaged areas.
July Fourth fireworks shot from Cooper River Park in Collingswood with the city of Philadelphia as a patriotic backdrop.
And a way we go....that is what the engineer is about to experience as 98 loads of ethanol are about to push him up to 50 mph. Iowa is not flat as many think. One travels along the CN Dubuque Sub between Waterloo and Dubuque and you will see many hogbacks like this along this 90 mile route. This train was loaded at Tara, IA, and is bound for interchange with the CSXT at Chicago, IL.

This photo really was taken on Independence Day. Reminds me a lot of the movie by the same name. Where's Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Russel Casse when you need them? This storm front brought some destruction to the west side of Omaha.
By the way, if you zoom in, you can see orange balls on the power lines. They're to help Crop Dusters see the power lines in time to pull up and miss them. Russel Casse would have appreciated that.
