Over independence pass and into Aspen for our yearly fall colors exploration. Even though I know I might repeat myself I'm driven to take snapshots of the scenery. The light and other subtle aspects of the landscape always seem fresh.

The Independence Monument (1904) on Citadel Hill at Tulcea, Romania, commemorates the 1878 union of Northern Dobruja with Romania following the Russo-Turkish War. It offers fine views of the Danube River.
This historic precedent of Colonial Georgian Architecture sits at the heart of Philadelphia's old city center. Independence Hall also played a crucial role in the founding of the United States, as its storied assembly rooms witnessed the signing of both the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the Constitution in 1787.
Yesterday was Independence Day, and fireworks are legal in Indiana, with the result that there were fireworks all over my neighborhood last night. This was taken from my backyard.

from the forth. ended up not taking a lot of pictures. ended up not setting off very many fireworks. ended up driving a lot. ended up visiting bass cemetery which is considered to be one of the most haunted places in alabama. its over 200 years old and has many civil war soldier tomb stones. I personally don't believe in ghosts, however I do believe in demons, so I won't deny that that place did scare me a little bit. we ended up at waffle house.

Independence Hall is the birthplace of the United States. In 1776, the Second Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence here. Eleven years later, in the same room, delegates to the Constitutional Convention created and signed an enduring framework of government - the United States Constitution.

One of the most intensive builds I've ever done, both financially and structurally. The interior gymnastics required to support the exterior facade (including: correct amount of windows [count them!], the stone accents crossing the front of the building, and the roof overhang) was ridiculous; all on top of needing to seamlessly integrate the main building with the hyphens on either side, the clocktower, and the other little add-ons. This build took me months of planning and testing before it was finally built.
The raw cost of this build also forced me to acquire parts slowly - lots of rare parts (sand blue radar dish, silver trophy, among others), a set of 1x1 dark orange plates that ran me over a dollar per unit, and custom-printed clockfaces (designed myself, printed by Brickengraver). All told, it was far more expensive than I'd like to admit to myself, but I couldn't be happier with the result.
As some of you might know I'm a Philadelphia resident, and for three years up until recently, I lived just a few blocks from Independence Hall. This build is very close to me personally, and sometimes when I look at it, I can still hear the clocktower chiming the hour.

Many fishermen, while accepting that fishing is dangerous, staunchly defend their independence. Many proposed laws and additional regulation to increase safety have been defeated because fishermen oppose them.
To these guys it's NOT a sport.

I couldn't have a picked a worse spot for shooting the fireworks if I had tried. I misjudged what part of the sky to shoot in and when they started up I had a streetlight dead center. Decided to do some crowd shots instead and ended up with two decent shots out of 100+ attempts.
Live and learn I suppose.
Independence protests as the ANC/CDRs attack the European Commission offices in Passeig de Gracia, #Barcelona. The stage is carried on the back of the van, where a rapper shouts out a pro-independence rap song.
This was in response to the transfer of the jailed politicians from Brians to Madrid in anticipation of the start of their trials from the 12th February.

West Philadelphia, nicknamed West Philly, is a section of the city of Philadelphia. Alhough there is no official definition of its boundaries, it is generally considered to reach from the western shore of the Schuylkill River, to City Avenue to the northwest, Cobbs Creek to the southwest, and the SEPTA Media/Wawa Line to the south. An alternate definition includes all city land west of the Schuylkill; this would also include Southwest Philadelphia and its neighborhoods. The eastern side of West Philadelphia is also known as University City.

Philadelphia was founded in 1682 by William Penn, an English Quaker. The fall of 2022 I did my 3rd major cycling tour. I began my adventure in Montreal, Canada and finished in Savannah, GA. This tour took me through the oldest parts of Quebec and the 13 original US states. During this adventure I cycled 7,126 km over the course of 2.5 months and took more than 68,000 photos. As with my previous tours, a major focus was to photograph historic architecture.

There's been a lot of fun Independence Days over the years, but 2022 in Montana would have to rank right near the top. After a spirited run west from Laurel, the Bozeman turn soaks up the last of the evening sun at the former Northern Pacific depot in Livingston. I'd think a pair of SD40s would be sufficient to get 38 cars up Bozeman pass, but they're cooling their heels waiting for the pusher set to couple onto the rear.
The All Under One Banner (AUOB) movement whose principal aim is to raise the profile of the need for an independent Scotland held its biggest march and rally (over 200,000 participants) in Edinburgh on Sat 5th October ’19 starting at Holyrood Park and ending at the Meadows coming after months of marches and rallies held by AUOB across Scotland in Glasgow, Galashiels, Oban, Ayr, Campbeltown, Aberdeen, and Perth.
