These are rolls of some kind of insulation material. They were "baking" in the hot sun in "indefinite long-term outdoor storage" at Kreiterhof:

Kreiterhof (see location below) is an amazing, amusing 200+ year-old rural establishment. Visitors are welcome from spring through autumn. You can go for a drink or a casual, simple outdoor meal. Before or after, you can wander around and take photos of a mind-boggling accumulation of objects, materials and devices that are in "indefinite long-term outdoor-storage."

Location: Kreiterhof, near Village of Nebenau, District of Lörrach, Baden-Württemberg DE.

I shot this quite a while back — in July, I believe. We explored the abandoned zoo in LA, made adventure buddies with some kids that were wandering around, climbed on top of the bear caves while the Shakespeare in the Park performance went on in the background, and mowed some In-N-Out burgers afterwards. I’ve been doing design work for these guys over the last couple years but this was our first time finally getting to meet in person. I had a blast with them, so I hope their indefinite hiatus comes to an end soon so we can hang out again!

Stormtrooper Bruce still finds himself "Tropper Sitting" Palpatine's nephew while his parents are away for an indefinite time. As such, STB's mission is to find something fun and entertaining for said nephew each day. Fortunately, he's done this before, so revisiting the ship's more popular places is a big hit with little You-Know-Who!

STB: OK, settle down Chef Ratatouille. You simply must remember to use your inside voice!

CR: But Unka Dude! I'm so excited! That trip to the Mess Hall was awesome! That chef with the four arms showed us so many tips and secrets on how to bake the bestest desserts in all the galaxy, and he gave us free samples! I can't wait to start baking my dessert!

STB: Yes, Ratty, but until all the ingredients we ordered are delivered, let's just take a break and eat some PB&J Sammys. OK?

CR: Oooh! What's that? I don't think I've ever eaten that before. Is that good?

STB: Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. And you've eaten them a gazillion times!

CR: Oh, that! You make it sound so awesome! I'm going to start calling them that, too!

STB: What? I can't hear you. I think I just went deaf.

CR: Oh, sorry. You're so funny! I sure wish those ingredients would hurry up! I think I'm going to make some Choco Lotto Dubba Trubba Wookiee Cookies!

STB: Wha-a-at?! That's not in your cookbook!

CR: I know! I'm tweeting one of the recipes I found to make it better. Momma always tweets her recipes, but they don't always turn out very yummy. But don't worry, mine is going to be awesome!

STB: Tweeting? OH, you mean tweaking the recipe! I'm sure your cookies will be awe... um...perfect. And as soon as this movie is over, we're finding something else to watch!! Won't that be awesome?

The Nipigon River Bridge was a bit of an embarrassment for Canadian engineering when it partially failed. The westbound lanes had been carrying traffic, but the eastbound lanes were still under construction when the bridge buckled by 60 cm's. I’ve looked around a bit, and I don’t think it has yet been resolved who’s mistake it was and who should have to pay the enormous costs of the repair. Just to make sure it was indeed safe, we drove over it twice, thrill-seekers that we are.

From Wikipedia: On January 10, 2016, the new bridge was closed to traffic after bolts attaching a main deck girder to the northwest bearing failed during a winter storm, causing the deck to lift by 60 centimetres (24 in), resulting in the indefinite closure of the Trans-Canada Highway at the bridge. As the bridge is a single point of failure in Canada's National Highway System, its closure effectively required vehicles travelling between eastern and western Canada to detour through the United States. The deputy mayor of Greenstone, 125 kilometres (78 mi) northeast of the bridge, declared a state of emergency for the municipality as a result of the closure.

Trillium's resident RS-18u is seen pulling two loads from Energex Tube’s steel mill in Welland back in 2014. This photo was taken four or five days before JMC Steel, the parent company of Energex, announced that they would be indefinitely idling production at the mill.

This was a sad fate for the mill that was founded in 1909 as the Page-Hersey Iron Tube and Lead Company. The mill had expanded and modernized over the years and was active in the war effort during both WWI and WWII . Stelco came knocking and bought the company in 1965 and 20 years later renamed the now Stelco facility to Stelpipe Ltd.

Lakeside Steel acquired Stelpipe in 2005 and they celebrated the tube mill’s 100th anniversary on September 16, 2009. At that time a ceremonial gold spike was driven to signify the planned reestablishment of rail service to the mill. This seems to have been an optimistic time at the company and I can recall the rail spur being relaid to connect with the rail entrance at the intersection of Dain Ave and Ontario Rd.

Unfortunately, the promising times didn’t persist and JMC Steel purchased the assets of Lakeside in April of 2012, subsequently changing the name to Energex Tube. On May 15, 2013 Energex began to demolish nearly half of the buildings on site, many of which were structures from the original mill and over 100 years old. The following Spring brings us to the time of this photo.

In the end JMC ran the mill for only three years before ultimately ceasing operations at Energex. The mill never restarted after the indefinite idling as JMC, citing unfairly traded steel imports, deemed it to be unprofitable.

The third installment of this abandoned house series continues its textural exploration of decay with a Victorian home engulfed in mud. The mud travels through the first floor, tears down a front wall and oozes over the porch side, taking with it household contents of convenience. This detail opens the piece up, allowing the eye to travel the surface of the house and then back through the porch, into a room and back out to survey the piles of garbage. The play on depth here is something I enjoy as one has a glimpse of the activity behind this architectural scrim.

The house, itself, was chosen due to the repeating angled roofs that reach up high. This gives the architectural mass a certain rhythm that I found appealing. Also, abstractly, this echos the gothic representation of cathedrals – with their many spires – reaching upward to the heavens. While this is not a religious piece, there is a certain contemplation that I find in it.

On that note, of particular interest to me in this work is the notion of broken trust and faith. Foundations give way. Permanence transmutes into fragility. Our safe havens betray us.

For me, this piece speaks to the inherent unpredictability of those things which we call our foundation. Like a little dollhouse, a seemingly secure home is plucked up and set on a new path. This charming home, lovingly embellished with ornamental fancy was no match for nature. The fancy embellishments serve as a reminder of our earlier focus on the material world, while the aftermath removes us from that focus. The piece offers no answers or necessarily any hope, but rather points to life's fragility.

Strong foundations are the essence of safe havens. These foundations can be physical foundations (an orderly home, for instance), ideological foundations (religion and politics), financial foundations (steady income and solid investments), social foundations (emotional ties to others) and so on. Our well-being is pinned on these safe havens that we hold on to as a place to fall back in times of stress and trouble. Amidst the chaos of environments we cannot control – whether physical, financial, social or mental – the house is one of the ultimate icons representing a safe haven. It is the final retreat and escape of the day where we can let go of the external pressures (or at least some of them) that grip us during the day. Here, in the home, with the world locked behind a door, we control what will be our guest and what will not.

However, this and other safe havens betray. The door can be kicked in at the blink of an eye and our foundation instantly dissolves. Local events of recent – catastrophic earthquakes, tsunami, nuclear radiation leaks, record fires, floods and tornadoes – all presented real devastation to many personal safe havens. Graft and corruption in media, government, financial sectors and businesses betray a sense of social order that provides for us a mental, moral safe haven. Untouchable international crime organizations silently hack large databases of personal information with crushing effect to individuals' financial safe haven. Financial institutions and the people within unapologetically bring the world to its knees through reckless, greedy practices. Religious safe havens (whether "Christian" or otherwise) are assaulted from within as certain fundamentalists carve out their own scriptural interpretations of hate toward others. A democratic superpower representing life, liberty and happiness denies personal rights and institutes a policy of indefinite personal torture and the threat of it. And so it goes. All the planning, effort and unbreakable trust we put in our foundations – whatever form they take – can falter without warning.

Such it is. Life events that kick at our door or we witness through others temporarily blasts the scrim open, revealing – like the hole in this model's wall – the fragility of our own foundations and, perhaps for a moment, a sense of gratitude for those foundations left standing and greater clarity as to which safe havens are truly important to our well-being.

Before the coup day to day life of a Eurasian citizen was relatively calm and peaceful, massive wealth from economic booms had benefited the citizens who mostly lived middle income lives. Under Eurasian Socialism most had access to basic social services such as healthcare and education while enjoying a moderate amount of internet and press freedom. Yet following the coup this changed. The state was corporatized with Ansui absorbing most of the state run companies seeking to turn the country into an efficient labor force for their global domination prospects. Funds were diverted away from healthcare, infastructure, and education and poured into the military and industrial projects. Ansui Governance oversaw the industrialization and exploitation of Siberia and Central Asia, this mass gain in material resources fueled their grip over the state. mass surveillance networks were set up, the workforce of the state police was doubled, a permanent state of emergency was declared giving the police and military unlimited jurisdiction while removing the need for warrants or courts, mass purges occurred of all communists or socialists still remaining in the country. All military members were subject to moderate to extensive brain washing and neural augmentation, on top of an additional 300,000 being mobilized to fight the remnant government in Taiwan and rebellion in Japan.

The average citizen went from living a quiet life to a near dystopia, with almost no recourse to fight due to how effective and brutal the state police and survaillence were. The internet was permanetly shut off in the country and all cell and text data from the cell networks were fed into a hub that automatically analyzed and flagged any and all dissenting mentions. Those found guilty of crimes began near permanent slaves of the state with indefinite prison sentences so that they may serve as an additional free workforce for the Ansui government. The swift brutal takeover of the entire nation by Ansui sent shockwaves throughout the world but their was almost nothing that could be done. Limited support was extended to the Eurasian govt in exile now located in Taiwan and Singapore, but the vast power the Ansui corporation now possessed was sent into supernova when in control of the largest nation in the history of the world.

THere is a massive lore dump for the latest change in the story, here is a little build I've been working on for a few months slowly that is now finally finished. Hope you enjoy! Check the discord for our ongoing contest.

What attracts me to this place, as the reason that brings me back here often on both sides of a network that leaves only a glimpse of indefinite spaces of freedom? A wire mesh, cold, prickly; barrier that marks a clear boundary, perhaps able to collect but not to limit my time, my thoughts. This seemingly closed, maybe just nice for me, attracts me, perhaps because it does not allow escape routes apparent. Perhaps because it is not necessary to escape, to find oneself. M.C.

This is a MOC that I'm not really sure of. It's one I've wanted to build for almost a year -- a fully sized form of an old Matoran MOC -- and also one that I've hated the process of building. It didn't help that I was being pressured by some people *cough*Zach*cough* to make it "a really good MOC". Right now I'm considering this an indefinite WIP that I will likely return to and improve in future.

In a world 100 years after man, everything once created by people is becoming biomass. When left alone, nature will extract almost any sign of human existence. Resting in rural silence somewhere in Italy, we found proof of that. There is an artifact of industrial archeology dating back to the 19th century. But it was abandoned long ago. It has been isolated for an indefinite period. Today, surrounded by dense undergrowth it is blending in perfectly. What is this place? And what is its story? Join us while we are exploring an unseen world - the world after man! This is our exploration video: youtu.be/E9ReyaSq9F0

One of my personal railfanning goals has been to visit every railway line featured in the base game of Microsoft Train Simulator. I was obsessed with playing it as a kid, and thanks to the opportunities afforded to me by the Air Force, I was able to check off one more place of my list, JR Kyushu's Hisatsu Line.

The route featured in the game stretched from Yatsushiro in Kumamoto Prefecture to Yoshimatsu in Kagoshima Prefecture. On it you get to drive a KiHa 31 DMU. Along the way you get to see the Kuma River valley, Hitoyoshi, the famous switchback loop at Okoba, the summit near Yakate, and the second switchback at Masaki. For a 2001 game, it felt so real to me at the time. I vowed to one day visit the line to ride or photograph a train. Sadly, that will likely not happen anytime soon.

In July 2020, a series of heavy rains battered Kyushu, causing rivers to swell to historic levels. One of the hardest hit was the Kuma River, and by extension, the Hisatsu Line. Damage was catastrophic, and as a consequence JR Kyushu closed the 86km route for an indefinite period of time. Studies conducted estimated restoration to be in the vicinity of 23-40 Billion Yen. Due to the line running through rural country with a continuous decreasing population count, the line was operating at a loss for years, so it was no surprise the route was mothballed.

Despite this, in April 2025, JR Kyushu and Kumamoto Prefecture officials have agreed to restore part of the Hisatsu Line to service between Hitoyoshi and Yatsushiro, with a projected completion of ~2033. While this means the river valley section will one day see a train again, this also means the famed loops and switchbacks will remain mothballed, likely for good. Admittedly, it stings to not see a train operate on the OG section of railway, and likely never will, however the Hisatsu Line south of Yoshimatsu is still in operation, so technically my dream of photographing trains on the Line will still happen. Hopefully one day we get to see Okoba Station used by trains again.

In our day there is a stronger tendency than ever to reduce

happiness to the level of economic well-being—which is moreover insatiable in the face of an indefinite creation of artificial needs and a base mystique of envy—but what is completely lost sight of when this outlook is projected into the past is that a traditional craft and a contact with nature and natural things are factors essential to human happiness. Now these are just the factors that disappear in industry, which demands all too often, if not always, an inhuman environment and “quasi-abstract” manipulations, gestures with no intelligibility and no soul, all in an atmosphere of frigid cunning; we have arrived beyond all possibility of argument at the antipodes of what the Gospel means when it enjoins us to “become as little children” and to “take no thought for the morrow”. The machine transposes the need for happiness onto a purely quantitative plane, having no relation to the spiritual quality of work; it takes away from the world its homogeneity and transparency and cuts men off from the meaning of life. More and more we attempt to reduce our intelligence to what the machine demands and our capacity for happiness to what it offers; since we cannot humanize the machine, we are obliged, by a certain logic at least, to mechanize man; having lost contact with the human, we stipulate what man is and what happiness is.

Good Saturday everyone!

Sorry for the title, but I never seen a person so thin and so toasted by the sun, age indefinite ..... = 0)

almost no snow in Toronto this winter....

A highlight of our time in Toronto this week was seeing " WAR HORSE " on the stage at the Princess of Wales Theatre...a new production, booked for an indefinite run....we LOVED it ! The horses are played by large puppets, each one requiring the skilled work of three actors to animate.

The story is said to be the same as that related in the film of the same name, which we have not seen.... but this stage version amazed us...an outstanding piece of theatre.

I confess, with snow flurries forecasted and an incredibly rigorous ascent into the highlands before me, I opted for an indefinite postponement of this dangerous trek. My photo will be labelled as research for an adventure in the distant future, likely by someone braver and more fit than I am.

This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera and Super-Takumar/6X7 1:2.4/105mm lens with a Kowa L39•3C(UV) ø67 filter using Kodak Portra 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Character Creation

Ursa is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. She first appeared in the 1978 film Superman: The Movie portrayed by actress Sarah Douglas.

The character made her comic book debut in Action Comics #845 (January 2007). An adversary of the superhero Superman, Ursa is the wife and lieutenant of General Zod. She is typically depicted as having been imprisoned in the Phantom Zone along with Zod and Non.

Fictional Character History

History (New Earth) -Last Son (Part II)

The Kryptonian Science Council discovered that two of their most revered scientists, Jor-El and Non, had determined that in a short matter of time, Krypton would suffer geothermic upheavel that would destroy the entire planet. Branding them as heretics, the cowardly members of the Science Council sent General Zod and his militants to Jor-El's laboratory to arrest he and Non.

Ursa was in charge of placing the two scientists under arrest and handing them over to the council. The Science Council administered a stern warning to them, and set them free. Before long, Zod and Ursa discovered that Jor-El and Non had been right all along. Krypton had little time left.

Non ignored the Council's warning and preached to the populace of Krypton revealing everything he knew of the pending disaster. Zod and Ursa defected from the military and joined Non's cause. Soon after, Non was captured and lobotomized under orders of the Science Council.

This incident drove Zod over the edge, and Ursa and he began an insurrection that made them the most wanted criminals on the planet. They were eventually captured and brought to justice. Jor-El argued on their behalf, and swayed the Science Council from sentencing them to death. Instead, Jor-El elected for a more peaceful means of punishment - exile in the Phantom Zone.

Rebirth (Prime Earth) -Revenge Conclusion

During Cyborg Superman's plans on forming a team to take revenge on Superman, he recruits General Zod.

However, most of the team doesn't want Zod as there leader, Zod then betrays them and sends the Eradicator II and Cyborg Superman into the Phantom Zone. Henry Henshaw thinks they are there to retrieve Zod's army, but instead the Eradicator is given orders by Zod to rescue his wife Ursa and there son Lor-Zod, which was his goal all along. With the Eradicator, they escape and fled to another planet, Jekuul, to help begin Zod's plans on rebuilding a new Krypton. Cyborg Superman is left trapped in the Phantom Zone.

Powers & Abilities

Military Training

As a member of the Kryptonian Military Guild, she received extensive training in the use of weapons, applicable technology, hand to hand combat, strategy, and survival techniques.

As a Kryptonian, Ursa is as dangerous as she is beautiful. Under the yellow sun, she has all of Superman's powers and abilities: flight, super-strength, speed, heat-vision, and others to mention, are all apart of her power set.

She's absolutely loyal to Zod and is willing to do absolutely anything for him. Her fighting skills are extremely deadly, making her a foe that Superman or other superheroes need to watch out for.

Kryptonian Physiology

Under the effects of a "yellow" sun, Ursa possesses the same potential powers as an average Kryptonian. These include:

Solar Energy Absorption

Under optimal conditions, this is the main source of Ursa's super powers as they are contingent upon exposure to solar radiation from a yellow sun star system.

Her biological make up includes a number of organs which lack analogues in humans and whose functions are unknown.

It is believed that between one or more of these and her bio-cellular matrix, "yellow" solar energy is stored for later use.

This allows for the use of these powers to fade when yellow solar radiation is not available instead of immediate failure.

Heat Vision

Ursa can, as a conscious act, fire beams of intense heat at a target by looking at it. She can vary the heat and area affected.

Super-Hearing

Ursa's hearing is sensitive enough to hear any sound at any volume or pitch. With skill and concentration, she can block out ambient sounds to focus on a specific source or frequency.

Enhanced Vision

Ursa's vision processes the entire electromagnetic spectrum as well as allowing vast control over selective perception and focus.

This umbrella ability includes the following:

Electromagnetic Spectrum Vision

Ursa can see well into most of the electromagnetic spectrum. She can see and identify radio and television signals as well as all other broadcast or transmitted frequencies. Using this ability, she can avoid detection by radar or satellite monitoring methods. This also allows her to see the aura generated by living thing.

Telescopic Vision

This is the ability to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics. Though limited, the exact extent of the ability is undetermined. In function, it is similar to the zoom lens on a camera.

X-Ray Vision

This is the ability to see through any volume of matter except lead. Ursa's can see things behind a solid, opaque object as if it were not there. She can focus this ability to "peel back" layers of an object, allowing hidden image or inner workings to be observed. The exact type of energy perceived - such as x-rays, cosmic rays, or some other energy invisible to normal humans - is unclear. This ability perceives an ambient energy source though, it does not involve the eye projecting a concentrated, possibly toxic, beam to be reflected back from objects.

Microscopic Vision

This is the ability to see extremely small objects and images down to the atomic level.

Infrared Vision: Ursa's can see with better acuity in darkness, and to a degree in total darkness.

Flight

Ursa is able to manipulate graviton particles to defy the forces of gravity and achieve flight. This ranges from hovering to moving in any posture, in any direction.

Invulnerability

Due to the interaction of her dense molecular structure and supercharged bio-electric aura, Ursa is nigh-invulnerable to extreme energy forces. In addition, her extends this protection against toxins and diseases.

Superhuman Stamina

Ursa is able to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an indefinite period of time. This based on her body converting yellow solar radiation directly to energy, but is limited by physiological and psychological needs to eat, drink, and sleep.

Superhuman Strength

Ursa's strength is augmented by yellow solar radiation interacting with the greater than human density, resilience and biological efficiency of her musculature. Her strength is more an act of conscious will on energy fields than actual physical strength. It is this act of conscious will that enables her to perform physical feats that are beyond the mere application force, such as moving a mountain top without said rock crumbling under its own mass.

Superhuman Speed

Ursa is able to move at incredible speed by sheer force of will. This extends to her perceptions and allows for feats such as catching bullets in mid flight as well as covering vast distances in little or no time.

This also confers:

Superhuman Agility

Superhuman Reflexes

Super-Breath

Ursa is able to create hurricane force winds by exhaling air from her lungs. She can chill the air as it leaves her lungs to freeze targets. She can also reverse the process to pull large volumes of air or vapor into her lungs.

Weaknesses

Kryptonian Physiology

Under the effects of a "yellow" sun, Ursa possesses the same potential weaknesses as an average Kryptonian. These include:

Vulnerability to Kryptonite

Vulnerability to Magic

Solar Energy Dependancy

This kind of blew my mind a little... nature is amazing.

When I was a kid my mother gave me a book of true facts for Christmas and I was instantly fixated on random, useless trivia and true facts. I used to read the Trivial Pursuit cards on road trips (nerd alert), and to this day I still have a passion for the unusual and bizarre factoids.

A closeup of what a particular shipping crate has to say to us. I am no semiotician, but as a layperson, I think that the crate is saying

"Keep me out of the rain and snow,"

and

"I am full of glassware."

In spite of the crate-speak warning, this crate was nicely weathered and thus photogenic for closeups.

Also, if you look close, you will see that:

- the umbrella is beginning to leak and has a broken handle.

- the wine glass is broken at the top of its stem and is cracked at its base.

By way of explanation:

The crate is in "indefinite long-term outdoor storage" at one of our favorite places to explore and eat, the Kreiterhof. I don't know whether or not the crate is still full of glassware.

Location: Kreiterhof, near Village of Nebenau, District of Lörrach, Baden-Württemberg DE.

Obama visits Buckingham Palace as protesters gather outside. London 24.05.2011

As U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle visited Buckingham Palace today to meet the Queen and later on attend a State banquet in his honour, a heavy policing and security operation took place involving uniformed, plain-clothed and armed police as well as US and UK Army and CIA operatives, as several large groups of protesters representing Libya, Iraq, Iran, Bahrain, Syria, the Stop The War Coalition (StWC) and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) gathered across the road from the Palace by Canada Gate to vigorously denounce duplicitous US foreign policy which sees the very dictators which the so-called Arab Spring is trying to remove being supported financially, politically and militarily by the Obama Administration with strong support from British Prime Minister David Cameron's government, as both leaders publicly mouth insincere, media-friendly platitudes about the need for democracy in the Arab regions.

Also amongst the protesters were protesters in orange jump-suits calling for the release from Guantanamo Bay of British muslim Shaker Aamer, who has been held without charge or trial for over nine years in the harshest of conditions in the notorious American military prison. All the other British detainees have now been returned home, having all been the victims of cruel and inhuman treatment at the hands of their US Military captors, yet Shaker Aamer remains.

Though President Obama made the closure of Guantanamo one of the central themes of his pre-election campaigns, and despite him having signed an Executive Order to close Guantanamo by January 2010 soon after becoming President, the Military prison remains very much open for business as usual, and remains a part of the continuing U.S. policy of illegal abduction, rendition, torture and indefinite detention without trial or due process in the so-called "War on Terror".

Today's protesters also called for the closure of Guantanamo Bay and the equally infamous CIA prison at Bagram Airbase in Iraq, and for the immediate release of all the detainees who have not been charged with a single offence despite being brutalised for years by the U.S.A., which seems to think that the Geneva Conventions don't apply to them.

Powell River owes its existence to the local pulp and paper mill, having been built as a company town to house the employees of the brand new mill. The 1st newsprint manufactured in Canada west of Lake Superior rolled out of the mill in 1912. In its heyday in the 1980's they employed well over 2000 hourly workers manning 7 paper machines, and a good bunch of salaried people as well. Early this month the mill announced its "indefinite" closure, putting the last 200-odd employees out of work. Tough times ahead.

Best friend

Thanks heaps to Kelly for interviewing me! :) Read the interview here

Seeing people who you haven't seen in a long time is like opening a book you've read before, but haven't re-read yet. The familiarity is there, but you've forgotten the contents of the story a little. All the minute details, the words carefully typed out and printed in blackest ink, seemingly coming alive on the faded page. The light sound of their laughter, catching and riding on the gentle breeze that tinkles past. The notes and keys of their voice, each particular crescendo reviving almost forgotten memories that lie in deep corners of your mind. A slight moment of awkwardness as you're fumbling about for things to say, akin to the searching for the page of the first chapter of the story, but it quickly passes as the tension is brushed past with the delicate sweep of a finger. Everything falls into place just like it did last time. And you're grateful, ever so grateful that they haven't forgotten and they haven't changed, and at least this part of life, will remain as a constant for an indefinite amount of time.

A large-scale mural of AFL legend Adam Goodes has popped up on a building on the corner of Foveaux and Crown streets in Surry Hills. It was painted by Hamish McBride, Laura Paige, Megan Hales, Jacqueline Butterworth and Kailin Hegel from advertising agency and art studio Apparition Media.

Goodes began his AFL career playing for the Sydney Swans in 1999, until his retirement in 2015.

The football player, whose mother is an Indigenous Australian of Adnyamathanha and Narungga heritage, and whose father is of English, Irish and Scottish ancestry, has been outspoken on racial issues. This contributed to a campaign of booing at games, leading him to take indefinite leave from football, eventually retiring in 2015. The booing led to a national debate about racism, and Goodes's treatment by the AFL (which apologised in 2019 for not acting on the abuse he received from fans of the game).

This is sadly my last upload for a while, as I am moving from my house to another location in my hometown of Kelowna, and Internet supply will be cut off for an indefinite period of time. I just wanted to again thank all of you for your support of my photography, and I really appreciate it.

To keep you at bay before the next upload, ( which will be in a while ), here is a double supply of cuteness - in the form of this stunning pair of Variegated Fairy-wrens posing at Killalea State Park in Port Kembla, NSW, Australia.

Have a great week everyone, and continue getting out there in the wonderful and wild outdoors!

Exeter West Signal Box was originally built as a temporary structure by the Great Western Railway in 1913 following the enlargement of Exeter St. David’s station It was located to the west of the station, controlling the junction for the London & South Western Railway's line to Waterloo and connections to the goods lines avoiding the station, the engine shed and various yards.

The signal box contained a lever frame of 114 levers, but this was replaced in 1959 by an even larger new frame of 131 levers. The box remained in use until 1985, when colour light signalling controlled electrically from a new signal box at Exeter was brought into use. After closure of Exeter West in 1985, the Exeter West Group moved in and dismantled the signal box, marking each of the hundreds of parts for future reference.

At first, all of the parts were moved to Bristol and a start was made on restoring the box to be a feature at Temple Meads station. However, by summer 1988 it was clear that this project had foundered, but a home was offered at the proposed Swindon Heritage Centre. Everything was moved there, and restoration work continued until 1990. However a seemingly indefinite postponement of the heritage project at Swindon made it necessary to seek another site.

Finally a home was found here at Crewe. Having moved all of the many parts, a start was finally made on the complex task of putting the box back together again in May 1991, the structure was complete and weatherproofed by the end of that year, and the Internal rebuilding continued through 1992. The signal box was formally opened to the public on May Day 1993.
