The work is an abstract face, a play of shapes and contrasts that allude to the figure of a face without outlining the details with precision. The black ink blends with the opacity of the white enamel creating an image that emerges spontaneously from the canvas, as if it were the result of a chance encounter between the materials.

Beyond the fights and the struggles; there lies the spectrum of indefinite hypothesis.

Shot taken with Canon Eos 550d; used Tamron 18-200mm. Processed with Corel AfterShot Pro 2.

Renowned for its majesty and nicknamed "the king of the jungle," the lion possesses both beauty and strength. Lions vary in color but typically sport light yellow-brown coats. Mature male lions are unique among big cats due the thick brown or black manes that encircle their necks and protect them while fighting.

Lions consume a wide variety of prey, from wildebeest, impala, zebra, giraffe, buffalo and wild hogs to sometimes rhinos and hippos. They will also feed on smaller animals such as hares, birds and reptiles. Lions are also known to attack elephants when food is scarce.

The lion population in Africa has been reduced by half since the early 1950s. Today, fewer than 21,000 remain in all of Africa. Though lions used to live in most parts of Africa, they are now found only in the south Sahara desert and in parts of southern and eastern Africa. Historically, in addition to Africa, lions were found from Greece through the Middle East to northern India.

Both male and female lions roar, and that roar can be heard over five miles away! The only social member of the cat (Felidae) family, lions live in large groups called "prides, " consisting of about 15 lions. Related females and their young make up the majority of the pride. A single male, or sometimes a small group of 2-3 males, will join a pride for an indefinite period, usually about 3 years or until another group of males takes over.

Lions within a pride are often affectionate and, when resting, seem to enjoy good fellowship with lots of touching, head rubbing, licking and purring. The males are territorial, and will roar and use scent markings to establish their domains.

Now an old and blast from the past shot, indefinite now. The Carnoustie footbridge is gone. Going back 6 years, Turn the camera on and shoot. Nothing but (hope for the best) luckily got some ‘ok’ photos of the Plain HSTs that were kicking 2019 days…..

Some day maybe I'll get around to possibly digitizing these calendar pictures. Or just throw them out.

Today SLEA Sky Galleries is featuring artist Mareea Farrasco. Mareea is a fantastic Second Life Photographer and gallery Curator. Her artistic style is captivating, peaceful, and elegant. Through her lens, Second Life becomes a lovely pastel landscape that is both charming and realistic. A gifted curator, Mareea’s home gallery features many of Second Life’s most loved artists.

Mareea’s Exhibit “My Imaginary Land” can be viewed from now until November 30, 2022.

“This is a photography exhibition consisting of 9 landscapes, all taken at IMAGOLand & Galleries sim, edited in photoshop.” -Mareea’s description of her art in this installation.

Her biography says:

Mareea Farrasco is an SL photographer and owner of IMAGO Art Galleries, an art and culture area, displaying highly talented artists. Her photography covers a large field, from portraits to landscapes, from concrete to metaphoric images, from narrative scenes to simple forms and shapes exposed for themselves. The common line in all this diversity is pure emotion.

Pastel colors are her favorites, expressions of a nostalgic painterly mood. But sometimes she adds some color accents or, on a contrary, some dark shades and shadows, showing joy or fears, related to her feelings of the moment.

The pictures she creates are small steps in the indefinite journey to herself, in the middle of the noisy yet amazing Second Life.

HAPPY WINDOW WEDNESDAY(S) !!

Your are looking in one boat window and out of its twin. They serve a small, landlocked, old boat that is in a state of serious disrepair.

For a look at and through another window of this boat, see Landlocked:

www.flickr.com/photos/49304401@N00/50270606338/in/datepos...

The boat is in "indefinite, long-term outdoor storage" (along with a myriad of other items) at one of our favorite places in nearby southwestern Germany, See information below.

Location: Kreiterhof, near the Village of Nebenau, District of Lörrach, Baden-Württemberg DE.

In my album: Dan's Windows.

I posted a different version of this image last year. I think this one is much better. Taken at the Kreiterhof.*

The plant shown is my least favorite local weed--the aggressive European Red Raspberry (Rubus idaeus). In spring, if left alone, it grows shoots about 2m long in 2 months. The thorns are numerous and sharp. Heavy gloves are a must when getting rid of it.

* The Kreiterhof (see location below) is an amazing, amusing 200+ year-old rural establishment. Visitors are welcome from spring through autumn. You can go for a drink or a casual, simple outdoor meal. Before or after, you can wander around and take photos of a mind-boggling accumulation of objects, materials and devices that are in "indefinite long-term outdoor-storage."

The ruined fragment of a grange or barn still survives within the stackyard of Shambellie Grange farm. It consists of a single gable, 13 ft 6 ins wide, 11 ft 3 ins high, and 3 ft 4 ins thick, built of rough granite boulders and containing an arched opening, above which is a panel divided into two parts. The upper part is dated 1649, while the lower division shows two bishop's croziers and either two hearts or stars, now very indefinite. A finial in the form of a miniature obelisk surmounts the apex of the gable. (This grange would doubtless have been associated with the nearby Cistercian Sweetheart Abbey, which, however, was secularised in 1624.)

Closed for an indefinite period of time

Jemeppe-sur-Meuse

Due to a fire on 6th September, 2024 the Miskolctapolca Cave Bath and Aquatherapy is CLOSED for an indefinite period :( 😭

Vangaindrano (Madagascar) - This town of 30 to 40,000 inhabitants is the starting point for bush 4X4s for the track (RN 12) which leads to Fort-Dauphin, 250 km due south. A journey that can take two days to an indefinite duration depending on the weather. Allow 5 days during the rainy season. In addition to the muddy track, the waiting times due to trucks breaking down in the middle of the road and the random closure of some of the 10 ferry crossings. In the widest arms of the sea, during the rainy season, currents can be dangerous and traffic is then interrupted, sometimes for several days.

In this photo, this off-road bush taxi is undergoing a repair - which is not a luxury - at the corner of the street before returning to the track. On this track, I witnessed astonishing repairs that were supposed to fail within the first kilometer, but which miraculously allowed the vehicle to last until the end of the trip. So let's not judge these auto mechanic artists.

Three days later, with the arrival of the full indefinite lockdown, countless shops like this one would be closed and would never be able to reopen.

an indefinite boundary.

I planted several varieties of zinnias this spring, none of which were marked on their packets as being curly-petaled. There were, though, some marked "goliath", whose blooms have proved to be so petite that if I had seen them in passing at a florist or maybe in a neighbor's garden, I'd have inquired about them, curious at the "teacup" breeding.

Not being a picky person when it comes to these things, my focus being more on preventing the plants' premature death, I have been quite overjoyed at the surprises I've been coming home to each day. (Fun fact: If one is looking for validation in the "adulting" department, I highly recommend growing flowers from seeds. It's exceptionally helpful at dulling the pain of life's hum-drum happenings, like, for instance, not getting the laundry done, taking way too long to correct the grammar in one's sister's college paper, or say, pushing forty. Not me, necessarily, which is why I used the indefinite "one", so y'all don't get confused.)

This bloom, I think, looks like me. I have curly hair, and it has curly petals! See? Maybe, like pets, plants eventually begin to resemble their owners? No? Okay.

Another thought: Maybe the folks at the seed packaging, um, place, are stoned. They take all of the carefully bred seeds, toss them into the air, which is really high up, because it's probably a warehouse with incredibly tall ceilings, then let them fall in a mix onto the floor. They then scoop them into their packets willy-nilly, and then they all smile because a crazy person somewhere will get a real kick out of it. I wonder what music they're listening to in that big seed packaging place.

This appears to be a very wide bolt. It was about a mile away. I got inside after this one...!! When lightning arrives, the "fact" is the storm is present also. C.S. Lewis said this: "God is basic Fact or Actuality, the source of all other facthood. At all costs therefore He must not be thought of as a featureless generality. If He exists at all, He is the most concrete thing there is, the most individual, ‘organised and minutely articulated.’ He is unspeakable not by being indefinite but by being too definite for the unavoidable vagueness of language."—C.S. Lewis, Miracles

The North Branch of the Chicago River has 3 stems/forks. All three get thier start in marshy prairies that are separated by glacial moraines. The Middle Fork shows up on the old topo maps as a marshy area with a indefinite river path through it. By the first (late 1930s) aerial photos of the area, you can see that the land had been tiled and the river ditched for agriculture. So even though the land is no longer used for agriculture, the Middle Fork today still looks more like a canal than a river.

We were very fortunate to have a sunny weekend for this trip.

This region has been suffering from a series of major rainstorms in January and February that caused major flooding in the Big Sur region and compromised several sections of Highway 1. On February 15th, the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge was hit by a mudslide, resulting in indefinite closure of Highway 1 in the middle of Big Sur

DDR = Deutsche Demokratische Republik (In English GDR = German Democratic Republic). Also known as East Germany, the DDR was what is now the eastern third of present-day Germany.

The DDR ID sticker in the photo is on the back of a more than decrepit Trabant. The "Trabbi" was the DDR's iconic, sole, home-produced automobile. It was a truly peculiar creation; e.g. the body panels you see were not metal. They were plastic, reinforced with cotton waste. For details, see:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trabant

This particular "Trabbi" is part of an incredible array of accumulated objects at the Kreiterhof:

The Kreiterhof (see location below) is an amazing, amusing 200+ year-old rural establishment. Between Easter and late December, you can go there for a casual indoor or outdoor lunch or dinner. They are waiting to be used...for something...sometime. I recommend the Kreiterhof to one and all; especially photographers.

"blue melancholy"

Can a photograph induce inner thoughts and reflections until a tear falls on the face?

Memories that mix with the present. Future expectations hidden in the silence of the blue of the lake on a cold winter day where all the colors appear dull and opaque. Indefinite nuances without an apparent reason. The perfect place where the confusion of the heart and the mind leaves space only to silence and hidden thoughts for those who are no longer here, in a period that should be of joy and celebration.

Never turn off the radio in the Faroe Islands.

While we were driving north from Tórshavn to the G! Festival in Gøta, the festival announced an indefinite weather delay. Magnus, who had passed us on his way north to Eiði, called us to tell about it. On the correct assumption that we did not listen to the radio.

So we visited him in Eiði to wait out the weather there.

At 21:02 the sun suddenly exposed the whitecaps at sea. At 21:14, the festival announced that they would start with Moto Boy at 21:30.

This isn't an actual teaser, seeing as the MOC this is for was already posted as an "Indefinite WIP" a few months ago. Rather, it's a shoutout.

My longtime friend Micah, who is represented in my stories under the alias of "Mokatu", is also a fellow MOCist. I've had the opportunity to watch him build alongside me the past several years, and after some MOCs where it was all I could do to not suggest rebuilding from the ground up, he's beginning to really gain his footing as a MOCist.

I've been suggesting to him for a while now that getting connected with the online community was a good next step to furthering his skills, and he's finally done it. I'd like to see you guys check out his photos and leave your comments - not just because I'm proud of him but because he has the desire to improve, and I'd like to see him get opinions from a variety of builders.

HAPPY WINDOW WEDNESDAY(S) !!

My caption is of course borrowed (with modification) from Charles Dodgson, a.k.a. Lewis Carroll. I thought it fit because the windows and the view through them are a sort of surreal combination.

These are windows of a small, badly-weathered boat that is in "dry-dock" (i.e. long-term, indefinite outdoor storage).

What you see is the view in through one narrow boat window, and out of the identical one on the other side of the boat. I took the photo in late afternoon light on a very sunny, late-summer day.

On another episode of "projects I'm never going to end up finishing'.

I'd had this figure in the works since late 2016. As you can see, the only thing left unfinished was painting the details on the vest. I could never bring myself to do anymore modding or painting, so its just been left in my WIPs drawer for the past two years or so.

It was mostly the helmet and the mounted DP machine gun I wanted to show off.

I'd showed the helmet a while ago in 2017. Its a little sloppy with notches around the slid, from the saw jumping around on me.

We only know how to stay in the things we believe we control. It's a damnation, an indefinite suicide.

Love doesn't exist because you make It, but you make It because It exists.

In other words: you make love while you are It.

A particular Vihagu revamp I've been trying to make for a while, but ended up having to shelve for now. I don't have nearly enough pieces in the colors I need (dark green/dark tan, with some elements of gunmetal, lime, and dark red was the original intent). The torso and bow designs are probably the only things that will stay in the future version, so comments on those parts are appreciated.

TIME (noun)

1. indefinite continued progress of existence, events, etc., in past, present, and future, regarded as a whole.

2. opportune occasion or moment.

3. expressing multiplication etc...

It's pretty cold now... have no idea how many degrees but everything around me looks motionless or frozen... Even substance you can't touch, like time, is also frozen - comes to a halt and waiting for something...

I understand, it's winter now, so... it should be normal... but something else, something happens in a world...

The clocks show different time in different places. Yes, the time is different for everyone on a globe but something joining us, keeps together, guess what...

I imagined a labyrinth of labyrinths, a maze of mazes, a twisting, turning, ever-widening labyrinth that contained both past and future and somehow implied the stars. Absorbed in those illusory imaginings, I forgot that I was a pursued man; I felt myself, for an indefinite while, the abstract perceiver of the world. The vague, living countryside, the moon, the remains of the day did their work in me; so did the gently downward road, which forestalled all possibility of weariness. The evening was near, yet infinite.”

Jorge Luis Borges, Ficciones

Sometimes it's nice in black and white. Less distracting, and simpler to play with light without having to worry about how the colors "pop". Not by any means easier, just a somewhat cleaner way of looking at the world at times. A snapshot of absolute in a world of indefinites. fineartamerica.com/profiles/1-jason-jacobs.html
