Incredible how long you can live somewhere and not know you have something like this under your nose. Pretty amazing little hike!

Magpies are incredibly intelligent and attentive parents. What you saw was likely the adult carefully removing an impacted food item or pellet (sometimes chicks struggle to regurgitate cast pellets like raptors do, or they choke on large pieces), and the parent stepped in to clear the airway. It shows just how aware and responsive corvids are to their chicks’ distress.

Magpies have strong family bonds and will often help feed, preen, or even rescue their young in danger. Seeing one delicately extract something from a chick’s throat is a rare glimpse into their problem-solving and nurturing behavior.

If the bird regularly eats prey with bones, fur, feathers, or hard insect exoskeletons, it almost certainly casts pellets. Seed-eaters, nectar-feeders, and fruit-eaters generally don’t. So yes — magpies (and all corvids) do cast pellets, though usually smaller and less obvious than an owl’s because they eat a more varied diet and crush food more thoroughly. Chicks sometimes have trouble expelling them, which is probably why you saw the parent intervene.

Made a visit to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park today in hopes of finding lots of wildflowers. The preceding nights freezes took their toll on most. Luckily I found this Blue Ridge Bittercress.

I pulled out my Lensbaby Soft Focus II to take this photograph. Very little post processing was needed. The softness and glow of this lens really is incredible.

What an incredible location to view the wonder and beauty of the night sky! After witnessing a fantastic sunset, I stayed on top of Tom, Dick and Harry Mountain to photograph the Milky Way arching over Mount Hood. I hope you like this one - I have been trying for several months to get the right conditions in order to achieve it and everything finally lined up for me.

Below you can the town of Government Camp. To the left of Mount Hood is a good view of Mount Adams, and Mount Jefferson can be seen just to the right of the gaseous section of the Milky Way.

in my garden...best viewed large....Epicoma pontificalis.

I wish I had seen it flying, it stayed put on this twig for a long time and I went inside to get another camera but it took off before I came back.. Its eye is almost hidden underneath the spiky looking hairy head.

Also known as the Yellow Spot moth.

What I find amazing about digital photography especially regarding the insect world - is the way the colors and all kinds of markings and wings and eyes etc..... everything about them is instantly seen when enlarged. I don't know what the wingspan of this moth is, I just noticed the amazing red hairy head at first...how incredibly colourful some insects are, and to think there are millions of them!

All those colours in the wings didn't show up until enlarged.

The Incredible Hulk. Yellow boat, Hastings, East Sussex

Incredible edibles in Castries.

Ah, here we are, at the beginning of September, the first colours of what may well be my favourite food are appearing. Well, as they're growing in a square near the first communal compost bins, there's no doubt that someone else will be able to harvest them. And that's what sharing tomatoes is all about.

This was the incredible sky tonight. No extra editing. As Is

Thanks for your visit, hope you enjoyed, kindly leave your comment that will be very rewarding

today i went on another photo field trip. i had a GREAT time!! The Eastern Market is such a great part of Detroit. Ever since I moved here 8 years ago, it has been one of my most favorite places to visit, particularly on a Saturday morning. The crowds are exhilarating, diverse and fun, the vendors are animated and always bargaining, the produce is fresh and the scenery is amazing. I could easily have spent the entire day there, just soaking it up. Once again, I used up both of my memory cards taking incredible shots at this incredible site. For any out of towners, I highly recommend you add this to your itinerary if and when you visit. Any local peeps, get your butt down there if you haven't yet. It's a photographer's mecca. Enjoy... (don't know how many i'll upload here, but i have a gazillion shots once again!!)

This was taken on our recent trip to Costa Rica. He is so beautiful and so healthy looking thanks to a very kind and generous man who took this jaguar and nursed him back to health again. He had been injured and injured to the extent that he can not be released into the wild. He has a quiet home on a farm and is well cared for as you can see by the look of him. Jaguars are found in Costa Rica but usually they inhabit areas along the coast such as

Tortugaro. I fell in love with him and was thrilled that his life had been saved along with one other female who looks equally as beautiful. I am truly grateful for the kind people of this world who love and care for those that can not care for themselves.

Wishing you a wonderful and blessed day.
