My first photo to be filed in my brand new "2025" folder. It's been a minute, but I used my brand new ridiculously expensive Canon RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM full frame wide angle lens this morning at Cabrillo Beach, Angel's Gate Park, and Pt. Fermin Park. Just a few hundred shots, because I wanted to rush home and process them. As I think you can see here, this lens doesn't just shoot wide angle, it creates a completely new experience viewing familiar places and things. This is at 10mm, but it seems wider than the 10mm setting on my 10 year old APSC lens, which on the full frame camera is actually shooting about 13mm I understand.
I'm really going to like this lens.

It is incredible to be able to enjoy a completely snowy landscape with the light of the full moon, it is the closest thing to being on the moon! Additionally, if the Northern Lights show up, the enjoyment is the best! The Kirkjufell, or better known in Game of Thrones as The mountain in "Beyond the Wall", is a highly recommended place to visit if you travel to Iceland. I hope you like this lunar landscape illuminated by the Northern Lights and the full moon.

What an incredible planet we live on! I feel so blessed to be able to experience so many of its wonders. On this day of giving thanks, I want to take a moment and be grateful for everything I have and for my experiences in life. In the fog of day to day living, it's easy to lose sight of what is right in our lives. May all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

Bedni Kund is a part of the alpine meadows of Bedni Bugyal, which sprawls over 20 square km in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. This glacial lake is situated at an astounding elevation of 3,354 metres about 11,004 feet above sea level. Bedni Kund is a popular pilgrim site for the Hindus. It serves as a sacred pilgrim place where Ma Nanda and Shiva are worshipped by the devotees. The pilgrims carry the palanquin of Ma Nanda from Bedni Kund to Roopkund during the famous Nanda Devi Raj Jaat which happens once in twelve years.
I had the pleasure of hiking and photographing with fellow flickr members, Zeb Andrews, Manyfires, and thespeak this weekend. Thanks again for the invite folks! I had never seen this falls before, and I have to say that the place is quite impressive. The falls are much bigger than I had imagined.
Composition was a bit challenging here due to all the spray coming off of this monster falls. You sorta had to look for a dry spot and try your best. I want to visit again later in the summer when there's a bit less water flowing...

Giu is a village at a height of around 10000 feet near the Indo-Tibet boder in Spiti,Himachal Pradesh,India.It is famous for a naturally preserved mummy around 550 years old.
When we visited this remote and picturesque village in the interiors of Spiti in Himachal Pradesh we got the feeling that time had stood still for life here especially when we saw this quaint flour mill operated by a naturally running stream..The population,mainly Buddhist ,were simple and friendly.There was some kind of a feast going on and we were welcomed with tea and snacks.If you look carefully you can see both the women holding prayer beads.The whole village had to together chant a certain Buddhist mantra some few thousand times that particular day.:-)

Leaf peeping in the northeast is an event all unto itself. On this particular occasion, I visited the area in search of any hidden views. I stumbled across this scene while driving speedily along on my way to Acadia National Park. I slammed on the brakes, turned the car around and headed back in search of a composition. For a half hour I meandered the shoreline looking for the best view, and I settled on this one. The Northeast is so incredible in the fall! Prints available at goo.gl/BIMS1I

The Resplendent Quetzal is the national bird of Guatemala and from the first moment I saw weavings of this magnificent bird in Guatemala many years ago, I vowed some day I would see this bird in person. A pursuit I never gave up on. We will be going back shortly to Costa Rica and my dream is for all who will be on hour tour to have the opportunity to see this male quetzal in person. Truly worth the search !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
