The current project entitled “The Support Resilience in Time of Crisis: Increase Availability of Energy at the Local Level” is funded by the Government of Netherlands and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The Lebanon Crisis Response Plan – LCRP identified energy as one of the target sectors. More specifically the plan states, that “Government authorities in charge of the Energy and Water Sector, in collaboration with international and local partners, will continue their strong support to the most affected local communities, particularly through infrastructure projects in electricity, water, wastewater and solid waste. This has a vital benefit in mitigating the risks of social conflict between the local host communities and the displaced persons from Syria, and will be realized through the implementation of several activities.
The project’s objective is to increase the implementation of solar photovoltaic and/or other renewable energy projects within institutions (having a social impact or serving a social cause, located within the 251 most vulnerable communities in Lebanon), as a medium-term approach to reducing the impact of the Syrian crisis on the most vulnerable portion of the population. This objective is in line with the Lebanon Crisis Response Plan for 2017 - 2020.

Through fitting a new ECU, along with larger injectors and a less restrictive exhaust system, horsepower was increased by 60 bhp to 610 bhp. The 2nd annual Meath Spring Half Marathon (sponsored by Generali PanEurope) was organised and held at Bohermeen AC, Ardbraccan, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday March 3rd 2013 at 12:00. A 5KM race was also held on the day. This year a very large crowd of over 1,000 athletes turned out to compete on the day. The race has already increased in numbers since last year. Overall, this was a fantastic event and brilliantly organised by one of Ireland's oldest and most famous athletic clubs. The race is very well positioned in the running calendar for those who are preparing for a Spring Marathon.
The weather was perfect for 5KM and Half Marathon running with many personal bests and goals achieved for many people in both races.
This is a selection of photographs of the (1) start of Half Marathon, (2) loop 1 of half marathon. There are some 5KM photographs. Unfortunately we only had one camera on course today.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

This table is based on the idea that the tuition rate paid by international students is actually the "full rate" for tuition, and that Quebec and Non-Quebec Canadian students get deeply discounted tuition rates because of the taxes that they (or more accurately, their parents, grandparents, etc) have paid, taxes that were used in part to fund universities.
I've also assumed (for simplicity and because I have a lot of other more pressing work at said university that requires my attention) that the tuition rates for international and non-Quebec Canadian students will not increase over the next five years. I think that is actually unlikely and that they too will increase. Should they increase at a rate greater than that for Quebec students, it is possible that the Quebec student discount rate could actually end up at higher than the current 85%.
(I've also used McGill and the BA as one example... the results should be similar in other institutions and for other degrees)

Ecovolis program has proven successful in dramatically increasing bicycle use in Tirana, which, formerly, was a city without a developed bicycle culture. Ecovolis program is the first project in Albania that provides low-income adults with commuter bicycles as well as a donating program for children bicycles. The program recently completed two major steps, opening new bike stations in the city of Durrës and integrating Tourist Information Point Service to the bicycles stations' structure.
History
The Tirana Community Bicycle Albania project won financial support from the George Soros Open Society Foundation Albania (OSFA). An even larger contribution came from the US-based Pedal for Progress organization, which donated 450 bicycles. Sixty of these were used road bikes, which were modified and painted by local technicians to serve as public bikes in the Ecovolis scheme. Another portion was set aside to donate to children and to activists and volunteers at PASS. Still another portion were diverted to the project's Eco Bicycle Shop, a social enterprise which sells bikes for USD 50-150 and reinvests profits for the service and maintenance of Ecovolis bicycles. The main objective of the program was to introduce the community to an inexpensive, environmental friendly form of transport -- the bicycle; to sell used bikes at low prices; to donate bikes to the children of needy families and to PASS volunteers; to establish a bike sharing-scheme in the city (Ecovolis); and to employ financially disadvantaged people and young students to operate the bike-sharing scheme.
The Ontario government is taking further action to end hallway health care and address the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic by providing The Ottawa Hospital with $16.9 million in additional operating funding beginning in 2021/22. This is the third straight year of increased hospital investments across the province.

The Labor of Ministry building in Tegucigalpa has seen a spike in activity since minimum wage increases have forced employers to lay off workers.
Pretty much right out of the camera, slight contrast and black increase... but that's it.
And holy crap, used a lightroom preset for a black and white (see below in comments).... and wow, just wow. The black and white has a more painted look and it kinda creeps me out how her eyes are a gateway into her soul.

The Pakistan Strategy Support Program (PSSP) held the conference, “Increasing Productivity and Unleashing Growth” at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad on May 26-27th, 2012. This conference also marked the final round of the Competitive Grants Program that was launched by PSSP in January 2012 for Pakistani PhD and graduate students studying locally and abroad on economic development issues of Pakistan. The finalists presented in front of the Research Advisory Committee, donor heads, professors and students from local universities. The event also consisted of plenary sessions on Pakistan’s various economic growth issues by renowned academics from all over the world, such as Dr. Jock Anderson, Dr. Regina Birner and Dr. David Spielman.

Production of copper and gold in Peru, the country's top export earners, increased in the first five months of this year, according to government figures.
The Mines and Energy Ministry said that copper production rose 6.29% to147,284 tons in the January to May period compared to the same period last year, Semana Economica reported.
The central Andean region of Ancash, home to the massive Antamina copper and zinc mine, accounted for almost a quarter of national copper production. Other major copper production regions were Cusco, Moquegua and Arequipa, the ministry said.
Copper makes up about 20% of Peru's exports. The higher production has been spurred by the start of new mines and a recovery in output from existing operations that faced operational setbacks last year due to lower ore grades.
The increase in copper production is expected to help boost Peru's economy by offsetting the impact of lower metal prices.
On Tuesday, Chile's state copper commission Cochilco said that copper prices would likely average US$2.77 a pound in 2015, down from a previous forecast of US$2.85 a pound. Next year, copper prices are seen averaging US$2.70 a pound.
The boom in global demand for commodities led to copper prices reaching a high of approximately US$4 a pound in 2011, before declining to US$3.11 a pound last year as demand from resource-hungry China eased.
Peru's Mines and Energy Ministry also said that gold, the country's second export product, rose in the first five months of this year. Gold production was up 7.9% to 1.89 million ounces. While most of Peru's top copper producers are in the central and south part of the country, the biggest gold mining operations are in the north.
The La Libertad region, where Barrick Gold runs operations, accounted for 35% of national gold production, while Cajamarca, home to the large Yanacocha mine, accounted for 29%.

While giving the ‘Margaret Thatcher Lecture’ on 27 November 2013, Boris Johnson stated that he would increase inequality – increase the cruelty against people of low intelligence or who lack the means to improve their situation – partly to spur a “spirit of envy” that he thinks is necessary for progress, but in fact is more likely to increase crime, and partly to give rich people a smug feeling of value if they give charity to the poor souls they have ground beneath their jewelled heels.

No one can ignore the harshness of that competition, or the inequality that it inevitably accentuates; and I am afraid that violent economic centrifuge is operating on human beings who are already very far from equal in raw ability, if not spiritual worth.
Whatever you may think of the value of IQ tests, it is surely relevant to a conversation about equality that as many as 16 per cent of our species have an IQ below 85, while about 2 per cent have an IQ above 130. The harder you shake the pack, the easier it will be for some cornflakes to get to the top.
And for one reason or another – boardroom greed or, as I am assured, the natural and god-given talent of boardroom inhabitants – the income gap between the top cornflakes and the bottom cornflakes is getting wider than ever. I stress: I don’t believe that economic equality is possible; indeed, some measure of inequality is essential for the spirit of envy and keeping up with the Joneses that is, like greed, a valuable spur to economic activity.
But we cannot ignore this change in relative economic standing, and the resentment it sometimes brings. Last week I tried to calm people down, by pointing out that the rich paid a much greater share of income tax than they used to.
That is an awful lot of schools and roads and hospitals that are being paid for by the super-rich. So why, I asked innocently, are they so despicable in the eyes of all decent British people? Surely, they should be hailed like the Stakhanovites of Stalin’s Russia, who half-killed themselves, in the name of the people, by mining record tonnages of coal?
I proposed that we should fete them and decorate them and inaugurate a new class of tax hero, with automatic knighthoods for the top ten per cent. Well, my friends, I am proud to say I have often been accused of being out of touch, but hardly ever have I produced so frenzied and hate-filled a response.
Missouri City Increases Mosquito Spraying
To take a bite out of the pesky mosquito populations, which increased during the recent rains, Missouri City is going to schedule additional spray days this week and next week.
From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on July 15 (that's tonight), July 20 and 22, an independent contractor will dust all neighborhoods and parks, including the Quail Valley Golf Course, with Kontrol 30-30, an environmentally friendly pesticide. Special attention will also be paid to other locations where mosquitoes swarm, including public drainage areas.
The week of July 26, the City will return to its regular once a week sprayings on Thursday night and will continue until the first week of November. If rain falls on a spray day, the work will resume once the weather dries out.
"Mosquitoes can be a health hazard and the additional spraying will complement the prevention measures we already have in place to keep the populations low," said Sharon Valiante, assistant director of Public Works. "Residents can assist with the control measures as well. Your best defense against being bitten is to be prepared."
In addition to spraying, mosquito larvicide applications are placed on as "as needed" basis in public areas where standing water is visible. Experts have found this is an effective measure for reducing populations in parks with ponds or lakes, drainage ways, and drainage structures.
Other mosquito control methods that staff recommends to residents include:
*Empty any containers that collect standing water
*Empty wading pools
*Clear away back yard clippings where mosquitoes can breed
*Change water in bird baths and flower cuttings every few days
*Clean drainage ditches of debris and weeds
*Clear rain gutters
*Report illegal dumping of tires
*Store pet food and water dishes that are not being used
*Do not leave garbage can lids lying upside down and do not allow water to collect in the bottom of garbage cans
*Use repellent when outdoors
*Spray your yard with an outdoor mosquito spray
*Spray inside your home using a "flying insect spray". Please be sure to follow directions on the label.

Workers rallied and marched through the streets of Boston to demand that minimum wage be increased to $15. Two bills pending on Beacon Hill would raise wages to $15 an hour for about 1,500 service employees at Logan Airport and over 200,000 workers at fast food and "big box" retail chain outlets across the state. Low-wage employees including airport workers, adjunct professors and home care workers turned out to show their solidarity with fast-food workers. The "Fight for $15" campaign is being backed by the Service Employees International Union and began in late 2012, with striking fast-food workers in New York City. Since then, the growing demonstrations have helped make hourly pay a major political issue. Organizers said strikes and protests were planned for cities including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami.
