SN/NC: Mussaenda Erythrophylla Var. Hybrid C, M. Philippica, Rubiaceae Family
Mussaendas belong to the Rubiacea family which also includes the Gardenia, Ixora, Pentas and coffee plants (Coffea arabica). This red one is not the most common, usually they are coral or pale rose. This shrub is sometimes referred to as "Bangkok Rose". It produces a showy display in shades of white, pink, salmon to red, depending on the variety. While the the bushes are not so attractive in winter (when they can lose their leaves if cold enough) they are a valuable addition to a tropical or subtropical garden for their showy display over an extended period in the warm months.
Mussaendas behoren tot de Rubiacea-familie, die ook de Gardenia, Ixora, Pentas en koffieplanten (Coffea arabica) omvat. Deze rode is niet de meest voorkomende, meestal zijn ze koraal of lichtroze. Deze struik wordt ook wel "Bangkok Rose" genoemd. Het produceert een opzichtige weergave in de kleuren wit, roze, zalm tot rood, afhankelijk van de variëteit. As mussaendas mais comuns são as corais, cor de rosa forte ou pálido. Mas a vermelha, para mim, é totalmente diferente. Tem alguns lugares que a chamam Hybrid e outros simplesmente o mesmo nome. Muito delicada, bonita e chama a atenção. Ela pertence à mesma família do café, a rubiácea. Também recebe o nome de mussaenda-arbustiva no Brasil. Também é chamada de flor-de-trapo, devido ao seu formato "amarrotado". Dura bastante aberta e é uma "folha-flor" duradoura. Dentro dela existe uma flor pequena de 5 pétalas cuja cor varia de acordo a cor da planta: Nas corais, amarela, Nas vermelhas, creme e nas brancas cor laranja. Muito interessante.

Irlanda - Enniskerry - Jardines Powerscourt

Powerscourt Estate, located in Enniskerry, County Wicklow, Ireland, is a large country estate which is noted for its house and landscaped gardens, today occupying 19 hectares (47 acres). The house, originally a 13th-century castle, was extensively altered during the 18th century by German architect Richard Cassels, starting in 1731 and finishing in 1741. A fire in 1974 left the house lying as a shell until it was renovated in 1996.
Originally the family seat of the Viscounts Powerscourt, the estate has been owned by the Slazenger family, founders and former owners of the Slazenger sporting goods business, since 1961. It is a popular tourist attraction, and includes Powerscourt Golf Club, an Avoca Handweavers restaurant, and an Autograph Collection Hotel.

Cluxewe is a resort on First Nations Kwakwaka'wakw (or Kwakiutl) land that includes an excellent restaurant, cabins, and a campground. From the tenting area - which has its pros and a few major cons depending on which site you get - a long gravel spit leads to the mouth of the Cluxewe River, seen here in morning fog. The beach is pristine. Litter is almost non-existent. Walk it early in the morning and you will almost certainly be alone. To the seaward side is Broughton Strait; to the left, across a small hump of land, is the Cluxewe River and estuary. You may see eagles, loons, sandpipers, seals, herons, mink, and waterfowl. Two huge, old tree stumps guard the beach. I loved the textures, the growth lines embedded in the weathered wood, and the new growth springing out of the old.

A late burst of colour off the beach. Not great quality, as I pinched zoom on my mobile.
A non-photo day doing other unplanned things - buying a new phone for my OH, her old one suddenly died today. Also, hopefully, fixing the Fiesta. Alerted by the heater not worked, I found it had lost a lot of coolant. Fingers crossed that the cracked expansion tank was the cause - I bought and fitted a new one today
Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery was dedicated in 1999 as the 117th national cemetery within the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration. When fully developed, this 982-acre cemetery will provide 400,000 burial spaces. I believe it currently holds over 20,000 gravestones from Veterans of military service. It holds remains from service men and woman in all branches and from the Civil War through those from the Iraq War. Elwood, IL

CASTLERIGG STONE CIRCLE STANDS ON A SUPERB NATURAL PLATEAU COMMANDING A SUPERB 360 DEGREE VIEW OVER THE SURROUNDING FELLS. IT IS COMPOSED OF 38 FREE STANDING STONES, SOME UP TO 3 METRES (10 FEET) HIGH. IT IS ONE OF BRITAIN'S EARLIEST STONE CIRCLES DATING BACK TO THE NEOLITHIC PERIOD 4000 TO 5000 YEARS AGO.
THE ORIGINAL PURPOSE OF THE SITE IS UNKNOWN. IT COULD HAVE BEEN USED AS A TRADING POST. THREE STONE AXES HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED INSIDE THE CIRCLE. IN THE NEOLITHIC PERIOD AXES WERE MADE FROM VOLCANIC STONE QUARRIED IN THE FELLS. OTHER POSSIBLE USES INCLUDE A MEETING PLACE FOR SOCIAL GATHERINGS, A SITE FOR RELIGIOUS CEREMONIES AND RITUALS OR EVEN AN ASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATORY WITH THE STONES BEING ALIGNED TO THE SUN, MOON AND STARS.
CASTLERIGG STONE CIRCLE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST SITES TO BE COVERED UNDER THE ANCIENT MONUMENTS PROTECTION ACT IN 1888 AND IN 1913 IT WAS ACQUIRED BY THE NATIONAL TRUST.

Kader Attia was born in 1970 to Algerian parents in a suburb north of Paris. Now working in Berlin and Paris, he draws on the experience of living in two cultures as the basis for his artistic practice.
New Video Installation
At the centre of the exhibition ‘Kader Attia. Remembering the Future’, which comprises a total of 38 works, is the new video installation ‘The Object’s Interlacing’ (2020), which Attia has created specially for the Kunsthaus Zürich. In it, he addresses the much-debated topical issue of ‘restitution’ of non-Western, especially African artefacts. The work is an attempt to delve deeper into this complex subject. It includes the voices of historians, philosophers, activists, psychoanalysts and economists. Kader Attia gathers the varying standpoints together, without apportioning blame, in order to achieve a nuanced analysis of the topic.
