I include this photo as an example of the first time that I attempted multiple exposure focus stacking. This is 5 photographs combined with focus from near to infinity. Not the greatest composition in the world but it certainly gives great clarity and focus to an image!

Schoenthal Monastery, first mentioned in 1145, includes one of the oldest churches in Switzerland. It is considered a showpiece of Romanesque architecture. Its western façade features ashlar masonry, a portal with a depiction of a lamb carrying a cross, and an arch supported by a lion baring its teeth on one side, and by a man on the other. The inscription on the arch reads: HIC EST RODO.

Of the murals on the inside of the church, a depiction of St. Christopher has been preserved above the gateway to the cloister dating from about 1310/20. Behind the eastern façade, fragments can be seen of an angel swinging a censer; these date from around 1430. The bell in the steeple was cast in Aarau in the 15th century. The deconsecrated monastery was used for various commercial purposes over a period of 500 years. As of 1986, the new owner had extensive renovations carried out in collaboration with the canton’s departments of archaeology and the preservation of historical monuments. The latter recommended using the traditional plaster made of slaked lime.

Geology is the main reason Colorado National Monument was preserved. Here the canyon cliffs have been shaped across millions of years, and include rock layers that span billions of years. The sheer-walled canyons cut deep into sandstone and granite–gneiss–schist rock formations. This is an area of semi-desert land with juniper, piñon pine, cactus, sagebrush, and wildflowers that thrive in the desert. Mule deer, bighorn sheep, and coyotes inhabit the monument’s backcountry along with many birds and little creatures roaming the cliffs and canyons.

One Man's Dream

"I came here last year and found these canyons, and they felt like the heart of the world to me," John Otto wrote in 1907. "I'm going to stay . . . and promote this place, because it should be a national park." Some folks thought John Otto was crazy. He lived alone out in the wild and desolate canyon country southwest of Grand Junction, and he loved the land so much that he campaigned tirelessly for it to be set aside as a national park. Urged by Otto, the citizens of Grand Junction deluged politicians in Washington, D.C., with letters and petitions in support of the proposal. Meanwhile, Otto built miles of tortuous trails through the proposed park area so others could appreciate its beauty. And he did it all without hope of any person gain. But in May of 1911 Otto's dream came true; Colorado National Monument was established. Otto was rewarded by being named the park's caretaker, a job he gladly did until 1927 for $1 a month. ~ National Park Service ~

I moved my trail cam to include the Spanish Peaks and my little windmill. I propped the camera against a small dead stump I dragged out of the woods. these Deer are so cautious, it took the buck 20 mins to get the courage to tiptoe around the camera because it wasn't there 2 days ago. This view is better but only for the morning light. I wish we had some nice clouds over the mountain which we always do, but not tis morning....

I'm thinking of setting up a real blind this Winter so I can use my good Canon gear. This trail cam is pretty bad for detail and resolution, although the Deer and other animals would probably never come in with a larger blind in the meadow, even if it was camouflaged well.

The eastern great egret (Ardea alba modesta), a white heron in the genus Ardea, is usually considered a subspecies of the great egret (A. alba). In New Zealand it is known as the white heron or by its Māori name kōtuku. Measuring 83–103 cm in length and weighing 0.7–1.2 kg, the eastern great egret is a large heron with all-white plumage. Its bill is black in the breeding season and yellow at other times, and its long legs are red or black. The colours of the bare parts of the face change to green during the breeding season. The breeding plumage is also marked by long neck plumes and a green facial area. The eastern great egret can be distinguished from other white egrets and herons in Asia and Australia by its very long neck, one and a half times as long as its own body. The eastern great egret has a wide distribution throughout Asia and Oceania, with breeding populations in Australia, Bangladesh, China, Nepal, India, Indochina, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Russia (north-eastern), Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The bird is an uncommon autumn and winter visitor to Tasmania. The diet includes vertebrates such as fish, frogs, small reptiles, small birds and rodents, and invertebrates such as insects, crustaceans, and molluscs. The eastern great egret hunts by wading or standing still in shallow water and spearing prey with its bill. The eastern great egret often breeds in colonies with other herons, egrets, cormorants, spoonbills and ibises. One brood is raised a year, although the breeding season varies within Australia. In the north of the country it is in March to May, in southern and central Queensland December and January, and October to December in the south. Located atop trees at a height of 20 m or more, the nest is a flat wide platform of dry branches and sticks with a shallow basin for eggs and young. The clutch consists of anywhere from two to six pale blue-green eggs, with three or four being the usual number. They are oval in shape and measure 52 x 36 mm. The Vanden Plas 1500 was introduced in 1974 under its own marque as the top model in the Austin Allegro range, based on the Allegro 2. At the time of its launch in 1974 the Vanden Plas 1500 was priced at £ 1951, compared to the £ 1159 for a base Austin Allegro 1300, or £ 1923 for the much larger Austin 2200DL. Like the Allegro it was designed by Harris Mann and sold as an upmarket small family car. Unlike the Allegro the Vanden Plas 1500s never featured the controversial quartic steering wheel, despite being shown in early sales litrature, and most were built by Vanden Plas in London, with a shift to Abingdon from late 1979 for the remaining 1750cc cars, which retained the Vanden Plas features but was now based on the updayed Allegro 3.

The Vanden Plas was much better appointed than its sidlibling Austin Allegro, and included picnic tables, alongside the walnut veneer and hide.and sharing the Allegro chassis and body shell and a prominent Vanden Plas grille. Most were powered by the 1485cc engine of the Maxi coupled with a five speed gearbox and producing 69bhp.

For its final two years the Vanden Plas was updated to Allegro 3 mechanical specifications powered by a 1748cc BMC E Series engine and rebranded Vanden Plas 1750, it also became available with an Automatic transmission
