This is the highest point we get to on Day 1 - the environment changed quite a bit from where we started - no more cactus and agave plants up this high! From here the trail turns away from the Urubamba and descends down in to a jungle valley along the Cusichaca river.
The black bags are all that we were allowed to take. They had to be no more than 5kg. Once you've got a sleeping bag & a sleeping mat in there, it doesn't leave room for much more. You don't actually need much on a 4 day hike.
