Day 1 on the Inka Trail

Inka ruins along the Inka Trail.

www.sapadventures.net/ The Inca Trail is a magnificent, well preserved Inca Trail route which connects Machu Picchu with what once were other regions of the Inca Empire, and today it is one of the world’s most popular treks. This four-day walk goes from the highlands of 4,200mts and down through the cloud forests to finally arrive at Machu Picchu - 2,380mts

The second day of the trek is the hardest, but Biz and I were quite happy that we were able to keep up to the llamas which were carrying the gatorade which we subsequently bought off the locals half way up the hill

The trail on day two. We were coming up, singing Bob Dylan.

On our way down from Inca Chiriaska Pass we enjoyed the views of 6271 tall beaty - Salcantay Mountain. Here she is - cover girl! This mountain gives name to two treks. One is called Classic Salkantay trek. Normally it takes 4 nights and doesn't require Inca Trail permit. We selected mix of wilderness-rich Salkantay trek and history-filled Inca trail. The "cost" of extras was two additional nights on the trek.

Inca Trail When the traveler on his first visit to Cusco raises his eyes and looks up at the clean and fluffy sky his doubts disappear: To days great adventure is to follow in the footsteps of the ancient dwellers of the Inca Empire. Why invest up to four days trekking on steep paths to reach the old citadel of Machu Picchu, if there is a railroad that can take you there in comfort in only six hours? Only the experience itself can supply the answer. Inca Trail
