When hanging out at our favourites west coast beach recently, it's always entertaining to watch the gannets playing around. They nest here for the summer and then head off over winter. Thousands of them so wonder how they know where 'my spot' is? Nature is incredible.
Along the Nottingham Canal. A place to relax and unwind.

I never cease to marvel at The Exquisite Timeless Victorian Architecture! I've come to This Historic & Beautiful Shore in Cape May, New Jersey, USA since I was a little girl along with my cousins & our families! We now are 4 Generations that gather & rent several Victorian Beach Homes. Many have of course been kept up to date, but are mostly unchanged since the 1800s!

The Widewaters was a turning basin allowed canal traffic to turn around. The wooden hulls of the abandoned barges are completely visible when the canal is drained in the Winter and partially visible in the Summer.
This is my take on a classic lake district view looking south east across Buttermere to this beautiful row of trees, backlit as the first rays of morning light spill into the valley.
Not many better places you could wish to be on such a beautiful winter morning.

[NT] Staunton Harold Reservoir. Derbyshire. Jan 2024
Staunton Harold is a 163-acre countryside space, while the reservoir itself is 210 acres. At this hidden gem there's wildflower meadows, woodland habitat, industrial archaeology and nature reserves, along with spectacular views across open water.
Located in the heart of the National Forest on the Leicestershire-Derbyshire border, the 210 acre reservoir is managed in partnership by Severn Trent and The National Trust. The National Trust are running the sites day-to-day visitor site experience, land conservation and exciting projects. Severn Trent are continuing to manage the reservoir. It's a countryside space with wildflower meadows, woodland walks and open water.
The reservoir at Staunton Harold has played an important part in the water supply network since its creation in 1964. The flooding of the valley for the development of the reservoir included the largest of Calke Abbey’s six ponds. Today the reservoir contains a rich diversity of wildlife, while the Tower Windmill dominates the skyline.
