From The Encyclopedia Brittanica:
www.britannica.com/plant/bishops-cap-cactus
Bishop’s cap cactus, (Astrophytum myriostigma), also called bishop’s mitre cactus, species of spineless cactus (family Cactaceae) native to Texas and central Mexico. The plant is a common ornamental species.
Bishop’s cap cactus usually reaches no more than 100 cm (39 inches) in height and up to 20 cm (8 inches) in diameter. It has four or five distinct ribs that increase to eight or more with age. The plant is globose when young, becoming cylindroid as it gains more ribs. The gray-green flesh is covered with white flecks. The fragrant yellow flowers have numerous petals and usually appear in early spring or summer during the day.

One of the most well-loved flowers of late summer and early fall is the helianthus, better known as the sunflower. There are about 70 species of sunflower, most of which are native to North America.
They are annuals or perennials in the Asteraceae (daisy) family and have rough sandpapery leaves and showy daisy-like flowers in a variety of colors.
Helianthus are heliotropic, which means that they turn their flowers to follow the movement of the sun across the sky east to west, and then return at night to face the east, ready again for the morning sun.

Zoom in for the people on the crater , one hour later we walked there to :)
Zoom in voor de mensen op de crater rand , een uur later liepen we daar ook :)
Saw this colorful vine through the leaves, so I blurred it.

Thanks for commenting, favoring and visiting me on this N°84 position in today's Explore (November 12, 2025) ... proud and happy to have been selected amongst all these other great photos
( Oct 6, 2016, edited this photo to change from the photogenic perched phoebe to the waiting wonderful wood-pewee. This identification was first made by Dinusaur in comments below and confirmed by Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The bi-colored beak shown in the photo is the key according to Cornell, in addition to the factors Dinosaur mentioned. )
This amazing little eastern phoebe flycatcher often perches fairly close to the ground such as this case on this limb about nine feet up. It darts from there to catch food on the fly.
Photo taken near Kent Gardens Park, McLean, Virginia.

In a grain of sand, a world resides,
With secrets vast and dreams that glide,
Heaven's whispers in a wild flower's bloom,
A universe unfolds in its delicate plume.
Hold infinity in your palm's embrace,
Feel eternity in a fleeting space,
For time, a river, swiftly flows,
Yet in each moment, a universe grows.
Within the smallest whispers heard,
Lies the symphony of the universe stirred,
In every heartbeat, a cosmic dance,
Life's fleeting glance, an eternal chance.
So, in each passing hour's flight,
Embrace the vastness within sight,
For in a grain of sand, a world unfolds,
And in a wild flower, heaven holds.
