This winter was the first time I have photographed a Long-eared Owl. In a small stand of pine trees these Owls usually stay hidden away close to the trunk. This one sunny day, after a big snowfall, the LEO was out in the open. My lucky day. (Lifer) 137

This is a lighthouse on the North West coast of England, and guards the entrance to the river Ribble. Some years ago, it was hit by a passing ship and had to be rebuilt.
