Blijdorp Zoo, Rotterdam

With its visitor count of around 1.5 million people a year, Rotterdam Zoo (Diergaarde Blijdorp) is certainly one of the biggest attractions in the Netherlands. Since the opening of the Oceanium, the zoo has almost doubled in size.

Diergaarde Blijdorp has become one of Europe’s most beautiful zoos. Dive into the fully covered Oceanium and make a magical voyage over the bottom of the sea and along coastal regions, meeting many marine and coastal inhabitants such as fish (from herring to sharks), puffins, snakes and a large group of king penguins.

You wander through different parts of the world where you will see fascinating animals that feel perfectly at home in specially imitated natural landscapes.

On the African Gorilla Island you will be delighted by the playful gorilla family with their little ones.

This photo features a gym with a variety of exercise equipment, including three treadmills and a rowing machine. The treadmills are arranged in a row, with one on the left side, one in the middle, and one on the right side of the room. The rowing machine is located towards the back of the room.

There are also two bicycles in the gym, one on the left side and the other on the right side. A person can be seen in the room, possibly working out or preparing to use the equipment. The gym has a window, allowing natural light to enter the space.

For its second year in a row, the Kentucky Department of Housing, Building and Construction, Division of Building Code Enforcement, with the Deputy State Fire Marshal of the Division of Fire Prevention, introduced the importance of Building Safety Month to students (grades 3-5) at Carter Christian Academy in Hitchins, Ky.

Day 141/365

Once again, I left my photo for too late and just threw something together. I better get out of this rut that I have dug. Sigh.

Well, it is thunderstorming here...chance of hail too. I love thunderstorms! I can't wait to curl up under my covers and listen to the wind and thunder and see the flashes of lightening break through my window blinds!

Alright...sorry this is terrible again...really...I am so not happy about it!

This house had a huge Obama sign up a week ago that was torn down by vandals overnight. But, I think they took care of the problem.

I spent a few hours at Gatorland in Orlando and when I saw these birds I knew they were aspiring models.

I think it might have something to do with me delaying throwing the ball in the water the nth time in a row.

The photo is for a book on the different ways in which Japanese and Americans take photos, where I claim that Japanese are more likely to take posed photoraphs where things and people are arranged in a socially acceptable way, whereas Americans are more likely to take phtographs naturally, warts and all. Pollardville was assembled in 1957 by Ray B. Pollard and family as a turist attraction. Pollardville is a fake ghost town. All of the buildings at Pollardville are either made from original antique architectural details or are original buildings themselves from the 1800's, moved here from Jamestown, Mountain Ranch, Lodi, Chinese Camp and Jackson, California.

Sadly Pollardville has been sold to a developer who is going to flatten the place to build homes, (Like California needs more houses!) and a strip mall. Most of the buildings have been sold to different people, who are moving them to their land to be restored. The last day of business was April 1, 2007.

My first watercolor still life from a course I'm taking.

This is the row of bikes that are owned/ridden by guys who work at the shop.
