5th of 7 images in a row that were intended for color but imagine my horror to learn that the white balance mode on the camera had accidentally been changed to some bizarre preset that turning everything intensely blue. Eek! After alot of work, I've saved just 6 of them as grayscale and uploaded them more as notes to myself. The seventh image is where I finally figured out something was wrong and the image is in the colors I saw that day in Patagonia.

This wicker furniture was seen on a large truck loaded up with so many outdoor furniture pieces. The owner was doing business by the side of the road as I was shooting photos. I learned by looking at the large views, the company name is stamped into each piece with a web address of:

Sudetenland, Czech Republic

February 22, 2013

This photo was taken on a trip to the Sudetenland in Czech Republic. The area was close to the German border and used to contain villages of Czech citizens of German descent. However, after World War II all Czech citizens of German descent were expelled from Czech lands under the Benes decrees, leaving abandoned villages on the border. This photo is of my group as we hiked to see one of the lost villages and passed an abandoned hunting tower.

Blossoms all opening at once. Soft focus experiment.

The Airpower Foundation was proud to partner with American Airlines, MGM Resorts International, The Gary Sinise Foundation, Terry Fator, Chef Robert Irvine, USO Metro, Greyhound, Sundance Helicopters, Still Serving Promos, Friends of Freedom, The Fremont St. Experience, and many additional partners and supporters to present Salute to the Troops 2017!

For the 9th year in a row, American Airlines donated a special 757 chartered aircraft to bring 140 wounded ill or injured service members and a guest to Las Vegas.

Activities included a heroes welcome at the Mirage which was our home for the weekend. From there our guests enjoyed the Secret Garden at the Mirage, the shark reef at Mandalay Bay, a private dinner with Gary Sinise at Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory, an amazing concert with Phil Vandel opening and then Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band on Fremont Street!

Sunday our nations heroes flew up and down the Las Vegas Strip thanks to Sundance Helicopters, and then enjoyed an amazing meal at Chef Robert Irvine's Public House Restaurant. Then master magician, Criss Angel, put on an amazing show at the Luxor for everyone. After the show, Criss spent some very special time with our warriors answering questions, and just having fun.

Wounded heroes also enjoyed a tour of Hover Dam, and a great Dinner at the Tournament of Kings at Excalibur. And of course our dear friend and supporter of all who serve, Terry Fator put on an amazing show for everyone!

The final day included a wonderful brunch at the Luxor before heading back on our donated American Airlines charter and the all volunteer flight crew who took such good care of everyone all weekend long!

A huge thank you to all those who volunteered their time and resources to make this weekend possible!

Participants in the West End Stage program perform during final rehearsal June 22 at Soldiers’ Theatre.

For the second year in a row, Caserma Ederle brought a West End Stage summer team on post, where approximately 30 children ranging from 7 to 15 years old had the chance to attend a weeklong workshop with a mix of drama, singing and dance classes.

The workshop culminated June 23 in a one-hour long performance with a full house.

Given that the weather is so terrible, I have been experimenting with high ISO shots and decided to take a few at Basketball, which has extremely poor lighting.

Sure, it's not the most exciting of Saturday evenings but the boy loves it and I love the fact he is genuinely excited about it.

For the boy and his team mates it's a chance to act out the exploits of their heroes, so I've added that saturated NBA look that is so prevalent in these sorts of images.

Here the boys get their last address from the coach before going on to make it two wins in a row after back to back 1 point losses

While familiar with the Golden Guild range, of which I have rather too many waiting to be built, the Golden Gallery range I don't see too much of. Not sure what determines an image belongs in the Gallery rather than the Guild, but thought I would give this one a go.

#3 All your ducks in a row

Arrived at my spot around 10:30AM, left at 6:10PM.

A little over 80F. and a light breeze. Perfect weather for hanging out for a few hours. There were a couple cars there, but I didn't see any people besides one guy who kept getting in/out of his Jeep. Okay, whatever.

10 minutes after getting there I heard the first train coming around the bend, and what a train it was, couple engines, and 78 autoracks in a row! What a way to start of my day.

15-20 minutes after I got to the spot, I messaged my friend Keith @railfanscajonpass that I was out there, he said he was on his way, he got there an hour or so later. By that time I'd already flicked 7-8 trains. One of the busiest days I've had in a long time. They just kept coming up and down the hill. I had planned to hike up the hill to look for a couple other spots to shoot from, but the trains just kept coming.

There's also some great under the bridges graff out at this spot, and I just didn't have time to hike over to it and flick it. There's also a spot close by that the RR stores ties, track, and equipment, I wanted to get some shots of that, again, no time.

Anyway, RRfans,(Keith) & Buddy hung out for another 5-6 hours until the sun dipped behind the mountains at about 6:00pm, and it was starting to get dark. Spent the day waiting, and listening for the engines chugging up the hill, or the horns blaring in the distance so we could finally jump up and do what we were both there to do. Him to film the trains and give his commentary, and me to get my flicks. He's a good dude to hang out with, good conversation, talk about life, problems, trains, etc.. Time just goes by so quick until the next train and we both get to work.

Saw lots of trucks, motorcycles, and loads of Jeeps drive through to go out exploring the local trails only to leave within' 20 minutes or so. There's miles and miles of trails out there, but it seems people get bored fast...

Had a great time, saw pieces from some of my favorite writers, and some writers I talk to occasionally.

It was a great day, and day I really needed personally, I've had a rough last few weeks, and I haven't been trackside in over a month. It was great to get out to the familiar sounds and smells of being out there next to the trains.

Backgrounds at this location are kind of boring, but the amount of freights and great pieces that come through here is crazy.
