I was enjoying the sun with a sandwich by the river a few days ago and suddenly, I looked to my right and this lot had sneaked up on me!
At Clapham Junction, a line up of South West Trains! 458012 goes for a wash, 450002 heads into the Junction with an Alton train, while 450125 & 455901 are off to London Waterloo.
I was compelled to go out this morning after finding that this loco-hauled set was still unusually facing the way wrong round. As my train from Colchester was only 10 minutes or so in front of this there wasn't a whole lot of alternatives when it came to choosing a location to shoot it.
This is the second day in a row that this set, NC05, has been in reverse formation following the failure of 90 012 at Kelvedon on Tuesday evening on 1P64 20.30 Liverpool Street - Norwich. A RHTT, 3S30, worked by 57 301 & 57 010 were used as a 1Z99 Thunderbird, taking the errant set from Kelvedon all the way though to Crown Point. Thanks to the unscheduled late arrival on the depot there was no chance to turn the set.
Fortunately you can't tell from looking at this but the sun duly went in for just 3 seconds just as the Skoda pulled away from the platform but came out again with a fraction of a second to spare. The cloud bubbling up furiously in the background would in course become rather more extensive.
Winner, Le Mans 2002. Frank Biela, Emanuele Pirro, Tom Kristensen.
Audi, not messing around, brings a full three car squad of r8s. Japan's GOH run a fourth. This will become Audi's third win in a row, and third in a row for the team of Biela, Kristensen, and Pirro
Coming off a reasonably successful debut last year, Bentley is now in the middle of a three year program and focussed on learning and development before going big in 2003. Last year’s EXP is back with minor enhancements.
Courage continue with their C60, however Pescarolo has heavily reworked his cars with completely new bodywork and aerodynamics.
Cadillac stick with their three-year plan and arrive all-in with a completely new car, the Northstar LMP02. Over the racing season, the car would develop to be quite competitive, nipping at the heals of Audi R8’s… However GM would end the prototype program and focus on the Corvette GTs.
Panoz’ clever new LMP07 didn't work quite as well as they had expected, the Zytek engine unable to provide the rumble of the big Elan/Ford. They're back with a revised Evo version of the "old" LMP01 featuring reworked airflow over and through updated bodywork.
Chrysler have abandoned their prototype program, leaving Oreca to look for power to run in their Dallara SP1. They turn to Judd for their v10.
Follow along as I retrace the important and interesting prototypes of the Le Mans "LMP" era and the story of Audi's legacy. #legolemans
My neighbors mysteriously agreed to switch on their kitchen lights at the same time.
I couldn't resist to take a picture of this quite home scene.

Four, counting our dog! Used my fisheye lens to maximize distortion. Lying flat on my back and shooting nearly straight up, I kept asking my wife to move closer... move closer... until she was almost standing on top of me! My little granddaughter saw this and imitated her. Totally made me laugh! Joshua Tree National Park, Odell Road.

Hi there,
How are 'ya?
It's been a long time
Seems like we've come a long way
My, but we learn so slow
And heroes, they come
And they go
And leave us behind as if
We're s'pposed to know why
Why do we give up our hearts to the past?
And why must we grow up so fast?
And all you wishing well fools
With your fortunes
Someone should send you a rose with
Love from a friend,
It's nice to here from you again
And the storybook comes to a close
Gone are the ribbons and bows
Things to remember places to go
Pretty Maids all in a Row
Oh, oh oh, oh......

This image clearly represent de-evolution of building tradition in Croatia.
First on the left is the old village house that reflects history and tradition, but is completely abandoned for being too small for tourist apartments.
In the middle there is awkward construction that presents times when some urban planning was still present: semi-floor was allowed in the attic. While pretty grotesque it still show some charm.
Building on the right symbolizes total construction anarchy - ugly and soulless concrete structure that does not pay any respect to the environment, building rules and tradition, made by sole improvisation of the owner.
Stacked one by another these constructions show one historical path...

Probably Russell's best film and certainly one of the best D. H Lawrence adaptations. Beautifully filmed at various locations across England with one of the final sequences shot in Zermatt, Switzerland.
Famous for its sexual frankness (as seen here) and the nude wrestling scene between Bates and Oliver Reed.
I once sat through this film three times in a row in a repertory cinema in Provincetown.
Tonight marked the 50th successful Ariane flight in a row: an Ariane 5 launched from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana to perform a dual deployment of two telecommunications satellites, Intelsat 20 and Hylas-2, into their planned transfer orbits.
Lift off of flight VA208 took place on Thursday 2 August. This was Ariane 5’s fourth launch of 2012 and the 64th Ariane 5 mission, continuing a line of launch successes unbroken since 2003.
Including its double payload, the 50.5-m-tall Ariane 5 ECA had a total lift-off mass of 780 tonnes. Its target injection orbit had a perigee (low point) of 249.5 km and apogee (high point) of 35 934 km with an inclination of 6°.
Once placed in this transfer orbit, the satellites’ own thrusters then gradually circularise their orbits to attain geostationary orbit – where they keep pace with Earth’s own rotation, causing them to remain at fixed points in the sky.
Weighing approximately 6090 kg at launch, Intelsat 20 was built for international satellite operator Intelsat by US-based Space Systems/Loral. Positioned in geostationary orbit at 68.5 degrees East – above the Indian Ocean – the satellite is replacing the Intelsat 7 and 10 satellites to provide video, telephone and data transmission services for Europe, Africa, Russia and the Middle East.
With a launch mass of 3325 kg,Hylas-2 was constructed for UK company Avanti Communications by US-based Orbital Sciences Corporation. Positioned in geostationary orbit at 33.5 degrees West – above the Atlantic – the satellite employs high-bandwidth Ka-band to provide broadband internet and two-way data services across Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Bike ride shot...managed to pedal 10.71 miles in the wind and cold. Had my bike leaning against a stop sign post while taking a photo and the wind knocked it over! About 16 to 18 mph wind.
I struggled with this one for today's Theme .... worn and weathered is my old gardening mug, as it's well and truly used in all sorts of weather, sitting on the old and weathered table where my wife and I often sit and have lunch .... when it's sunny!!

I hit a treasure trove of boring artifacts a few months ago when I stumbled across three twenty year-old Flxible buses hidden behind an old Circuit City and a seedy megachurch. I saw them out and about in October 2009 and finally went back to get some pictures today (07/02/10).
Flxible made one of the most popular buses ever sold to transit agencies. After a few botched orders, the company finally went under in the 1990s. Tampa's HARTline agency used these for quite awhile; the last time I saw one in action was probably around 2005 or 2006. The two things I remember about these buses were 1) the Flxible logo and 2) the amount of smoke that would billow out of the exhaust pipe.
All three of these buses came from the Broward County Transit system, which serves the Fort Lauderdale area. They all date from 1990. They don't look like they're in the best of shape, but they are obviously still used.

An entry for the Challenge Group 112 Pictures in 2012 No.12 ~ 12-12-12 (Any shot to be taken on the 12th day of the 12th month of 2012).
Taken on a walk along the river.
Taken with my new travel camera, a Panasonic TZ30 Lumix, which I am trying to get to grips with, and apart from being cropped and framed in Photoshop, is SOOC.
