Colombo, commercial and legislative capital of Sri Lanka, may well be a multi-religious, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural city – but it was the many Buddha statues, in all their different glorious forms, that stood out most for me.

Gangaramaya Temple is one of Colombo’s most important Buddhist complexes: a place of worship and centre of learning. It is packed with innumerable ornate Buddha statues.

Although Seema Malaka is actually a part of the Gangaramaya Temple complex, it is a short walk away. This temple is intended to be used for meditation and rest, rather than for worship and countless Buddhas are there to watch over you.

20231009_8951_7D2-37 Three in a Row (282/365)

A very busy time doing kitchen and bathroom renovations, so not a lot of time (and thought) about this week's Crazy Tuesday theme. Three (of five) batteries for my Stanley Fat Max tools. These are 4aH batteries, the other two are 2aH.

The trees along this walking trail are part of a provincial forest plantation allowing foresters to study different tree species in our "neck of the woods". This is an unique look for us as our natural forest is usually a jumble of trees and undergrowth too thick to walk through.

Thanks to Ilya I at least got from 8 to 9, but I was making it a 0 three times in a row. Not starting the year typing well.

Three weeks in a row of heading out the the field and I couldn't be happier! Today's field trip was down to Ash Cave in the Hocking Hills. An easygoing hike with some killer sights, it was hard choosing a few a of my favorite pictures made that morning.

There's also a video detailing the trip you can watch here:

ЧЕЛИНЕ - РЕТКА ПОЈАВА НАЈЕСЕН

Обала малог Црног језера (1420 m) на Дурмитору у сумрак, пред крај четвртог дана упорне кише. Ниво воде се драстично подигао после сушног лета и прве половине јесени. Претходне ноћи су „пукле Челине“, феномен који се иначе догађа само у пролеће, па је циљ нашег шетње да то проверимо. И заиста, на супротној страни Малог језера...

► █░▓ MALO CRNO JEZERO SHORE (THE SMALLER BLACK LAKE, 1420 m) JUST BEFORE DUSK - The four rainy days in a row fill up the lakes (which both suffered from summer drought) with lots of water draining from the nearby mountains. The rainfall accumulated from the upper cirques breaks free from numerous points in the ground, forming waterfalls and cascades finally, rushing to the lake.

G80 with its' kit zoom lens has stood the test of 3 hours in the rain remarkably that day. Handheld using support of a tree trunk. Utilizing the Pana 42 mm f/1.8 prime would have rendered the scene much better in all aspects but at the risk of inflicting that fine lens and the sensor water damage.

2018. Common Goldeneye ducklings were back in force at the same spot as last year - a creche of 17 this time. Though Goldeneye engage in nest parasitism, I think this brood was merged from two nests. There was a lone female hanging around further down the bay ... .

Après m'avoir fait très peur deux fois de suite, Rambo est de nouveau en forme (autant qu'on peut l'être quand on a plus de 15 ans!). Je vais arrêter de vous faire part de mes angoisses, sorry

After having scared me twice in a row, Rambo is fit again (as much as you can be if you are more than 15 years old). I'll stop telling you about my worries, sorry

An annual Village Festival where the feet of the horses in the sea are "washed". The villages on the west side of the island ' Schouwen-Duiveland ' all have their own Straô celebration. Eight weeks before Easter is the first village Renesse's turn. The week after, then follows Burgh-haamstede, Noordwelle, Scharendijke, Ellemeet and last Serooskerke. A number of Saturdays in a row is the Straô Festival on the Kop van Schouwen.

Although this party a very local issue is increasingly participated by visitors (with their horses) from afar, even from abroad. An important contribution to the sometimes very large group of horses is provided by a number of enthusiastic drivers of real Zeeland workhorses.

These huge animals that can weigh up to 1000 kg give the straô an authentic look.
