The Lodhie Foundation initiative brings a “First Ray of Light” to the rural and poor communities and backward areas of Pakistan. Since 2003, this philanthropic initiative has continued to achieve his goal to bring the poorest people of Pakistan opportunities for socio-economic development. The program has been building momentum and successful results since its beginning. The key element is the distribution and maintenance of solar LED lighting systems through the guidance and management of Pervaiz Lodhie Founder Trustee of Lodhie Foundation located in Karachi, Pakistan
Ever since introducing a noble cause of distribution of SOLAR LANTERN ( ROSHNI ) to the needy and poor villagers and families of rural areas in Pakistan under the Donation of Ms Samiya Khan, a team Lodhie Foundation was assigned to visit the Kachi Abadi Liyari Express Way Karachi to observe and witness the distribution of Solar Lantern ROSHNI to the most needy people of Kachi Abadi Liyari Express Way ,near 13-D Gulshan e Iqbal , Karachi,
As a gesture of goodwill Ms Samiya Khan Donor of Lodhie Foundation offered a gift of 100 solar powered LED lights to the people of Kachi abadi Liyari Express Way, Karachi
Benefits
•Freedom from Darkness — The sunlight fades as early as 6 p.m, leaving the villagers in complete darkness. With solar lantern lighting, they have about an additional five hours of light to add to each day.
•Freedom from Illiteracy — More hours of light means more hours for children to study and get a better education, which is crucial to improving their social-economic future.
•Freedom from Poverty — With solar LED lanterns, the villagers no longer have to pay for expensive kerosene lanterns. Also, with more hours of light, the men and women have additional hours to work, which means more income for each household.
•Freedom from Hunger — More income means more money to better feed each member of the family; a daily concern for villagers.
•Freedom from Disease — Kerosene lanterns give off toxic and dangerous fumes; solar LED lanterns do not. LED lanterns also provide extra visibility, which helps against nighttime hazards.

El Campamento Escolar de Ciencias y Tecnología, implementado por CONICYT, a través de su Programa Explora, se llevó a cabo entre el lunes 17 y el viernes 21 de julio, y fue ejecutado por el Proyecto Asociativo Explora (PAR) de Arica y Parinacota de la Universidad de Tarapacá, bajo el nombre “Tras las huellas de la humanidad”.
Entre los científicos que dieron vida al campamento se cuenta el doctor Francisco Rothhammer, Premio Nacional de Ciencias Naturales 2016; y el doctor en Ciencias Matemáticas de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Fernando Blasco, autor de libros como “Matemagia”, que buscan acercar esta disciplina al público general.
Natalia Mackenzie, directora del Programa Explora, explicó: “estamos encabezando una serie de esfuerzos que permitirán a los alumnos tener un rol más protagónico en su proceso de aprendizaje. Uno de ellos es fomentar metodologías que les permitan experimentar de manera lúdica con la ciencia, en lugar de solo sentarse en la sala de clases y absorber contenidos, como ha ocurrido tradicionalmente”.
From 7 to 9 March 2018, UN CC:Learn held a 3-day workshop to promote knowledge and experience sharing among its partner countries on the development and implementation of their national climate change learning strategies.
Participants had the occasion to exchange on a set of specific topics through a multiplicity of interactive presentations, group activities and moderated discussions, supported by expert interventions.

Influencers’ trip to Prague, Czech Republic
As part of the #ShapeYourFuture campaign, implemented by EU NEIGHBOURS east, 12 influencers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine travelled to Riga and Prague on 16-22 June to learn how these countries have benefited from being part of the EU.
Participants visited the European Commission Representations in Latvia and Czechia, met local influencers Patricia Vavilova and Rozárie Haškovcová, and learned how governments and NGOs are developing strategies to address disinformation and integrate state activities into a coherent communicative narrative.

A Prefeitura de Contagem tem dado continuidade às obras do Programa “Asfalto Novo” por todas as oito regiões da cidade, melhorando o tráfego de veículos e levando mais segurança a todos que circulam pelo município. O programa foi implementado para solucionar o problema antigo da quantidade de buracos nas ruas e avenidas e, no Riacho, os moradores das ruas Rio Hudson, R e S já estão aproveitando os benefícios da nova pavimentação.
“Os buracos acontecem porque a pavimentação da cidade é antiga e vem perdendo sua qualidade com o passar dos anos. Por isso a gestão atual, não só investiu em ações de manutenção, como a Operação Tapa-buraco (OTB), mas também criou o ‘Asfalto Novo’ de revitalização das principais vias”, explicou o subsecretário de Obras e Manutenção, Jaci Cota.
Nas duas primeiras etapas do programa, na região do Riacho foram revitalizadas 20 vias e, atualmente, a Prefeitura trabalha em mais 14 ruas e avenidas. Além das já concluídas ruas S, Rio Hudson e R, os trabalhos já iniciaram na avenida Coronel Jove Soares Nogueira e nas ruas Geremias Alves e Leblon. Também estão incluídas no programa a avenida General David Sarnoff; as ruas Jorge Justino dos Santos, Rio Xingu, Rio Pardo, Rio Colorado e Tom Jobim e o beco José Maria Lacerda. Vale observar que todas elas recebem novo pavimento, obras complementares necessárias em alguns casos, como sistema de drenagem (sarjetas e bocas de lobo) e recomposição de meio fio e novas sinalizações.
Além de recapeadas, as vias recebem sinalização de trânsito que orientam e garantem mais segurança para motoristas e pedestres
O administrador da Regional Riacho, José Rodrigues, ressaltou que revitalizar as vias é uma das prioridades da gestão. “Estamos promovendo mudanças reais no cotidiano de cada morador. Quando olhamos para os números de vias e de investimentos ficamos impactados, mas o que é significativo é quando andamos pelas ruas e percebemos nas conversas com a comunidade as melhorias na vida de cada morador”.
A conselheira regional, Norma Cotta, agradeceu, além da Prefeitura como instituição, aos trabalhadores que realizam as obras de revitalização e contribuem com uma cidade melhor. “Vejo os esforços de todos e estou muito feliz com os resultados, principalmente agora, que o Asfalto Novo está na minha rua. Ficou excelente”.
Ao todo, a Prefeitura de Contagem está melhorando as condições de 351 vias com o Programa “Asfalto Novo”, que conta com um investimento de R$136 milhões. Esses números correspondem a 17% de toda a malha viária do município, totalizando 303,5 km de asfalto.
