Orchid Transfer pendant
Polymer clay, image transfer, polished, textured and stained on steel cable.
4 ½” x 2 ¼” x 1/8”
This little kitten was one of many born at grandpa's house over the years, but he was hit by a car and killed soon after this photograph was made. My grandparents lived out in the country and had a lot of semi-feral cats in their yard.
This is a Polaroid Image Transfer. It is a process done with the old peel-apart Polaroid films.
1994
I have been a photographer a lot longer than I have been working with polymer clay (which has been 20+ years). I figured it was time I experimented combining the two. The tree photograph was manipulate with a couple of computer programs. The resulting line drawing was transferred to polymer clay to create the black and white necklace. As usual I had more fun playing with the leftover scraps of the image transfer. I colored them with yellow and blue alcohol inks. They were incorporated into the four pendants.

This transfer is new (as opposed to the archives) I'm trying out Polaroid 690. I always used to use 669 or equivalent. This was shot with a vintage Model 180 polaroid camera.
Early morning sun shining down on to two people walking in to work.
Captured on a Canon 30D, then exposed onto Polaroid 669 film via Polaroid Palette CI 5000S color film recorder, then transferred on to handmade paper.
