©2012 Julia Forsyth, Casita Welcome, block printing ink and Sharpie pens on upcycled New Mexico map, 10" x 8"
Well - it took waaay longer than I thought to not only carve this detailed linoleum block but to also come up with the perfect match of printed linocut image...with map image...with Sharpie colors used to enhance the map...and figuring out what NOT to color (just as important.)
I'm happy with the final version. Wish I had another map like this so I could keep one for myself since this one is going to the owners of the great Casita we stayed in as a thank-you (albeit it a ridiculously, shamefully late thank-you.)
I'm hoping they think it was worth the wait! ;)

Playing around with image transfer for an upcoming workshop. Tweaking the technique and adding new "stuff".
This tin was first covered with pearl metallic clay. Then two images were transfered to the top. Next vines, leaves and flowers were added around the images. Lastly some three dimensional flowers and leaves were added for a finishing touch.
Thank you to Corrina of piddix on etsy for providing the images and Lynda of SCDiva on etsy for a great tutorial on how to transfer images.
A Polaroid Transfer of my old wire fox terrier, Griffey, on water color paper. I added a watercolor wash to the sky and hand tinted the brown face with Marshall oil pencils. This is from 1991.
After digitally recoloring and manipulating the images and printing them, I applied them directly to polymer, and cut them into strips and rectangles for the box, and heart shapes for the necklace and earrings. The strips were applied to a box from the Goodwill that was painted black. The hearts became the focal and matching beads for the jewelry set, combined with antiqued brass chain, wire, and Czech glass beads.
Created for the PCAGOE Image Transfer challenge, September 2010 with the "Gothic" digital image sheet from Piddix at Etsy.
©2013 Julia Forsyth, Sunshine Texas Mockingbird, block printing ink on unbleached mulberry paper with hand embellishments, 5" x 7"
As a reward for all my days of focused hard work measuring and trimming all the prints in the Texas Mockingbird print series, I warmed this print up with yellow - as in Marshmallow Peeps yellow that makes you (or at least me) smile when you see it.
My son saw the black and white original print and mentioned that parts of it looked like the sun was shining on it. His observation inspired me to happy it up with color.
