The dirty inlets of the Pasig River finger through the neighborhoods of Chinatown, Binondo District, Manila. Untreated waste water, sewage, and run-off from dirty streets fill the water with a horrible stench. I used the healing stamp tool to erase the dead rat, garbage, and other nasties from the water.

Yesterday I returned to London after a week trip to the exclusion zone Ukraine. I first set foot in Chernobyl almost three years ago, but its haunting memories bright me back. With a large group of close friends and new friends we spent 4 days wandering round the eerie abandoned area where in 1986 a dreadful disaster caused the entire area to be abandoned and never to be returned to due to radiation.
My heart currently feels like it has a hole taken out of it from this place, it was an unforgettable trip, it will take a while for me to emotionally recover, but one day I will return, a piece of my heart will always remain for so many reasons.
This photos was taken in a school inside the completely abandoned town of Pripyat, hundreds of tiny childs gas masks littered the floors of one room, the town was so quickly evacuated that nothing was taken, everything just left covered in deadly radiation, with a fall out that would cause illness and deformities in babies for years and years to come.

This shot is a collaboration with Pratik Naik from Solstice Retouch, from the minute I saw his incredible retouching super powers I have always wanted to have him retouch one of my photos. But Ive always waited until I felt one of my photos was good enough to have that kind of special treatment. After this shoot I fell in love with how the shots came out and feel very lucky that he agreed to work his magic and I love how it came out, thank you so much Pratik.
We shot this on location at Dungeness, it was one of the most windiest days I have experienced. My beautiful model Charli was so so brave as it was absolutely freezing and at times the poor girl had tears in her eyes.
I had such a wonderful team with me to create this, without Vanessa's beautiful makeup, hair talents and being super helpful looking after Charli it wouldn't have been possible. My love Cameron was holding the light the whole time and didn't complain once about the cold. I was sent some gorgeous floaty white dresses by Rosie Red, which helped to create my fairytale vision for this.
Finally I was shooting using Elinchrom the ELB400 with Quadra head's which made a huge difference to creating the impact and drama I wanted with the shoot, the guys Jay and Sam from The Photographer Academy were there to film a behind the scenes video of me using the lighting, so will be able to share this with you very soon.

Abandoned City Hall in Germany. We made a quick stop over the border to see this beautiful location just as the sun was setting, casting a warm glow on the cold stone. It is currently being renovated into housing, with many of the surrounding buildings demolished. The fact this main staircase still remains is amazing and should be incorporated into the future of the building.

The 5 of us climbed into this small chapel in Wales to be greated with blue walls covered with green mildew and algae, the paint flaking away to the floor and the smell of rotting wood from the chapel pews laced the air. At the front lay this disintegrating organ, sadness flowed through the air of a once glorious space left in ruin

Abandoned church in the UK
Navigating our way inside infant of a squat across the road in a pretty dodgy part of town while a guy shouted over at us, was pretty nerve wracking. We quickly made our photos inside and then made an exit as quickly as possible.
It was strange as inside it felt peaceful, I love that about exploring, cause what ever is happening on the outside of that building, inside it is cut off from the world and you almost feel safer then on the outside.

I shot this image in 1982 while stationed in Sicily with the US Navy. A group of sailors went to an orphanage on Christmas Day to give gifts and spend time with the children there. This is the first negative I scanned and colorized in Photoshop when I first started learning to use the program. The original image was scanned off a TRI-X negative.
"Before I left the castle I so fixed its entrances that never more can the Count enter there Undead." - Bram Stoker
This place will always remain for me unseen, I tried and failed to get inside on a number of occasions and now I believe it has been sold. Many people were given permission to go inside, but i was never so lucky. So to this day it will haunt my dreams, of how it would feel to be inside, one lost to the beautiful memories people created in photos of how it appears now and hopefully destined for greater things.

Entering this death trap was more of a challenge then normal, with the distant sound of diggers and trucks, it became very clear that this huge mansion house was being dismantled around us.
As I cautiously made my way up some dodgy looking stairs to the hallway above I crept across the decaying hallway to be greeted with room after room with the floors completely crumbling to the ground.
I didn't venture too far, capturing this scene of destruction before making it back down to put my feet firmly on solid ground.

Located in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, Herculaneum was an ancient Roman town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows in 79 AD. Its ruins are located in the commune of Ercolano, Campania, Italy.
It is most famous for having been lost, along with Pompeii, Stabiae, Oplontis and the neighborhood of Monte Bursaccio in Boscoreale, in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 that buried it in superheated pyroclastic material. It is also famous as one of the few ancient cities that can now be seen in almost its original splendour; unlike Pompeii, it was mainly affected by pyroclastic flows, thus preserving the wooden objects such as roof tops, building beams, beds, doors, and even food.
Moreover, Herculaneum was a wealthier town than Pompeii, possessing an extraordinary density of fine houses, and far more lavish use of coloured marble cladding. The discovery in recent years of some 300 skeletons along the sea shore came as a surprise, as it had been assumed that the town had been evacuated.
I delved into the realm of naughty to get this shot, a fence creating a barrier from tourist and the skeletons stopped photos to be captured. I waited patiently till hordes of tourists passed, some lingering forever, and then when the opportunity came, much to the dismay of those I travelled with, I hopped over the barrier and grabbed a handful of shots.

"I'm hunger. I'm thirst. Where I bite, I hold till I die, and even after death they must cut out my mouthful from my enemy's body and bury it with me. I can fast a hundred years and not die.
