An image manipulation of three photos. The toy was photographed on a carpet at home. I brushed-in some beach sand from a photo of Shoal Bay in Anguilla and a sunset from St. Maarten from a few years ago. The overall comp was then softened and texturized.

Developed using Darktable 3.6.0. Additional post-processing in Photoshop.

LARGE ON BLACK

O say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight

O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen thro’ the mist of the deep,

Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,

What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,

As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,

In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream

’Tis the star-spangled banner. Oh! long may it wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore

That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion

A home and a country should leave us no more?

Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave

From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave,

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand

Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation,

Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the Heav’n-rescued land

Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,

And this be our motto: "In God is our Trust"

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Playing around with a photos and text on Sunday Morning, I created an important protocol. Okay, an unimportant protocol. Well, not actually a protocol. Fugetaboutit!

Tampa beach, Florida

* Another picture from the farm. I created the HDR from a single .jpeg and then edited the white balance using Photoshop. Applied a photoshop vintage action and a Fuji Velvia Emulator, changed the colour balance, added more sharpness on the field and desaturated everything else a little bit. The concept was to change the landscape into a surrealistic and eery atmosphere; but atractive at the same time, without losing the original feeling of this shot.

* So many things going on on my life lately...I'm sorry for the long absence on Flickr. Again, I'll try to comment on your streams and see what you my friends have been doing lately! :-)

This one I took after a weeding party of a friend of mine, from my girfriend's apartment. I used her camera, a Sony H1. Good camera by the way, but I was a bit tired, so I didn't changed aperture and used a horrible f/3,5 on this.

A beautiful city sunrise, to compensate the shitty thing that happened moments before we got home. Marcelle (my girfriend) wrecked her car after we left the party. She snoozed while driving for a couple seconds and BANG! Hit the sidewalk and a guard rail on the side of the road. Thank God she didn't hurt herself. She was using the seatbelt...just the car was wasted! :-)

I got lucky, yesterday, when my little buddy landed with aplomb on the dock as I was waiting for him to show. Apparently it had been fishing in the waters on the opposite side of the dock and I had not seen it 'til it lept right up onto the dock. Here it's leaping down from the diving board to the deck for a closer monitoring of the waters and for final preening before returning to the endless job of sustenance.

I did use the freeware version of Photomatix for HDR combining of two versions from the same RAW file, to do all I could to hold the extreme brightness range. Then I processed the results further in Photoshop, even detouring through the Lab color mode for some color play, before final sharpening at output size for uploading here.

This picture is heavily retouched. Check out this group article (you might have to scroll down a long way) to see the original image and a description of what i changed...

I'm eager to know if you think that the retouched image is an improvement over the original, and if it's done well enough to fool you ;-)

Explore rank #341

had trouble trying to decide how to classify this...

the source for this is actually a previous self portrait entitled "CWM040508 (The Weight of Light)", but it's so deconstructed that i don't feel i can still call it a self portrait and be accurate about it

so here is my new abstract portrait

made while listening (once again) to the latest mix i recorded

(and after giving the title to this image, i then knew what i wanted to call the new mix)

Chris from the Bonneville Barons.

The background is a photoshop creation which has been composited into the scene.

I shot Chris against a neutral grey background and then it's all composited in with it's new background in Photoshop, layered and blended, with use of photo filters to give everything an overall balanced colour cast to help everything sit together.

Quick tips: Some Creative Steps to go Photo Retouching

Photoshop is a field that refers to editing or manipulate our beloved images which we would like to use personally and even for companies as a product. When you will assume a business, including photos such as digital photography, fashion house and many other consistent companies that have needed a lot of photographs to show their prospective audiences and also want to focus business product than an absolute option comes over the head about product photographs what you may love.

Close in on a Nautilus Shell. I gave it some oil and saturation. (728 Shell Nautilus? (oil1 mosat))

This was a real Nautilus shell, but I treated my photo of part of it with oil paint and mosaic techniques on my art program. So *N* is for Nautilus here 16 years later in the ABCs and 123s group. I typed this little explanation 16 years, 2 weeks and 2 days after posting this.

I played around with Photoshop a bit.

Prepared for MacroMondays theme 'Ethereal'.

One of the original shots of the palm fronds in my back yard was the source for this abstracted image made by using a technique similar to the Amazing Circles method. See the original photo in a comment below, and then this image makes sense for the source material. I just like the graphic images of these nature's wonders whether in the original shots or in playful work.

Chris and Yann of the Bonneville Barons are shot against grey and composited into the scene.

This particular background is actually a 3D model that was rendered in a program called Carrara 8. I set the rez quite high and then had to wait 7 hours for the finished result! That said, being able to create a summer scene in the depths of winter is quite handy :)

You can see the finished image HERE

The trees of Boston Common with their autumn foliage cannot match the splendor of Bonney in her yellow fall jacket.

PixelBender provided the tree canopy and the lawns. Fractalius (and Bonney, of course) provided the figure. The benches, curb, and walkway were done with standard Photoshop filters. There's a little bit of hand painting. Color adjustments and 5% noise added at the end brought some texture and cohesion to the image.

Thanks so much pals for all your well wishes and notes... Im peeking in from time to time I promise, so behave yourselves, if not tho, yall see that SHARE THIS button right :-)

Have a great Thursday!

My cousin, Frank, again, who acts under the name Frank Aard. This time, his new haircut and his bowler hat, from his ridiculously large hat collection, suggested a quick Stan Laurel impression. We didn't play with it to the extent we could have, but it did fuel some digital tweaking, once I got it into Adobe's Photoshop CS2. Layers, layers and More layers... then I'm possessed, eh?

My first background created using Daz 3D. This is preparatory to a studio shoot I have coming in a couple of weeks where I want some nice grungy rooms and exteriors for my backdrops. Now, thanks to Daz 3D. I can make my own sets :)

Looking at it now. I've probably overdone the detail enhancement - but what the heck :)

As ever, my model Sarah-Jane is shot against a neutral grey background and composited into the scene.
