My color, cobalt blue, seen as an image of metal fencing that is adjusted with contrast and manipulated with the "amazing circle" technique. For those interested, the original photo used is similar to the one uploaded a week ago of this coil of fence. There are several more of these macro shots that I am still working with now. Every so often I get an urge to just have some play time in Photoshop and tonight's experiment was fun.
220/365. "Earth" rendered in Adobe After Effects and exported as a Photoshop .psd file.

I Am using the basic wondrous polar coordinates transformations as beautiful in and of themselves, but also as starting points for grounding them in their origins and/or creating new relationships for them.

Another SuckerPunch-derived image. Wanted this one dark and a bit spooky. The building in the background is a mausoleum entrance I shot a couple of years ago, so it's quite fitting in this context :)
My model Sarah-Jane is shot against a neutral grey background and composited into the scene.
All backgrounds are themselves composites of various elements to create a 'hopefully' dramatic theatrical quality.

Buffy meets SuckerPunch. Maybe just need some zombies in the background :)

Sittin' in the shade. Playing a soulful tune :)
I've modified my workflow a little for these newer images. I used to rely on the 'unsharp-mask-to-simulate-dodging-and-burning' trick - but now I tend to work on a 50% grey layer set to 'overlay' and paint black or white of varying opacity onto it to give the dodging and burning effect I'm after. For these pics, at least, it seems to do the job.
Here's the before and after comparison:

To be honest. I had no idea where this was going. Just liked the warmth of the image. The background was shot in the grounds of a stately home in Cornwall.

Your towel and a nice hot cuppa tea.
All you need to enjoy the final Apocalypse at Milliways, the Restaurant At The End Of The Universe.
In tribute to the works of the late Douglas Adams, creator of the wholly remarkable Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

The ritzy stone my towel ("Mao" to all his flannel mates) is draped over is a piece of building facade on display at the Melbourne Exhibition Building Gardens. The rest is all down to Photoshop filters. The teacup came out of my partner's Bestest China cabinet. I reckon the End Of The Universe would be a suitably grand occassion to bring it out!
I set up a number of pictures for this year's towel day, none of which I was able to do on the actual day, it was wayyyyy too busy a week for that.
But I did carry Mao (and "Red", my other companion towel) with me all day on the 25th, when he proved endlessly useful to pillow my head on the train, amongst all the other usual duties.

I created this for the Down Under Challenge. I also posted the source image of the great blue heron (see below) for the group to work their magic on.
I created this composite for the Weekly Photoshop Competition. The target image (see below) was provided to the group to manipulate by Oddsock. The dog belongs to our son.

This shot became an interesting experiment in the art of Frequency Separation. I liked this shot of Yann playing his bass but he was frowning quite a bit at the camera. So, I opted to tackle this one like full-on beauty retouching to see how much I could eradicate any unwanted lines and furrows.
I then composited the shot in the usual way, using the rendered bar scene I used from an earlier shot.

The main background was a CGI render along with other bits and pieces for the final result.
Had great fun with this shot which evolved from a simple gangster pic into a bizarre alternate reality 30's war image - or some video game poster!!

[ From an iphone image fragment collage experiment using in-camera frame manipulation ]
This simply started in my doctor's office waiting room when I noticed one cool result from accidentally overlaping frames while hastily e-flipping through an album. The combination of two images almost immediately became four, five, ad nauseam, and the storage alloted for photos was overtaken by this aggressive outbreak. Classic OC-me. After posting one, I promised/threatened ;} to flood my steam with these oddities. I thought it prudent to post a random few, however, and not to worry if you find these tedious or annoying, incidentally... classic me, I'll become distracted by another fixation any moment.
For now, I post these for irina ch who kindly encouraged me, which I really appreciate (a relatively healhy obsession/project). Prost.
>>> Ingredients include the Jovian aurora, an Apollo 15 lunar image, and lightning from an April 27th storm (like a lunatic, I was outside shooting such images..... directly over my head).
