Our son Greg just called to let me know that, as a part of an art exhibit he had organized in one of the office buildings he manages in San Francisco, he raffled off a framed 16x20 print of this image, and it netted three 55-gallon drums full of toys, which will be distributed to kids who might not otherwise get any toys for Christmas. Each person had to contribute a toy to enter the raffle. That makes me even happier than the kids who will be getting those toys this Christmas.
I first posted this image nearly three years ago, and it's been one of the most viewed images I've ever posted to Flickr. I decided to post it again because I wanted to tell everyone about the raffle, especially since it is going to make a bunch of kids a bit happier this Christmas. This is a composite of two images: I photographed the egret against a gray mud flat in the Corte Madera, CA marsh and, since the egret was strongly back lit, it was a perfect candidate for placement against this brilliant sunrise.
This yellow Hibiscus bud was photographed at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden.
Developed using Darktable 3.6.0. Post-processing was accomplished with an AI image art generator (deepart.io) and a subsequent light grain texture overlay was also added. After brushing-out the flower bud in Photoshop, the overall composition achieves a soft, glassy look.

Created for Faestock Challenge #80
Love the purple dress, so it influenced the entire colour scheme and look of this comp created for the Faestock Challenge. Oh, and I threw in the horse coz I think he's cool :)
This was an exercise in restraint. Not to go so heavy-handed with my usual post process. Avoid hard shadows and just make it a bit softer than usual.

This is a shot I took in Prague back in 2018. I was not very happy with the original shot as there were a lot of distractive elements. mainly cars.
But I was able to easily remove them thanks to the latest version of Photoshop.
I also added the reflective water puddles. as well as the smoke/fog.
I also changed the color grading to make it look more cinematic.
Some barnyard fun with Chris and Yann of the Bonneville Barons. About 90% of the shots I did with the boys were all separate so it was a bit of double trouble when making the final composite with the guys both in shot. The barnyard belongs to a friend of the owner of the Chevy truck. There were chickens around, but these fellas were shot separately and added later :)
You may recognise the image of Yann (with the slap bass) from a previous pic called 'Ramblin' Yann'.

My granddaughter Savannah is 6 now, she loves walking with Bella. This is a fairly new bridge in Tintern Woods. Original image slid a little with Prisma's "Surf" filter HSS! She's heading home tomorrow so Nana might get a little time to catch up on Flickr 😂
This is an updated version of a previous post.. The original image was a cut-n-paste project.. I wanted to create a seamless image using basic cut and paste techniques.. This version of that image is a representation of my updated painting skills using GIMP software..
