Class has started! Image Manipulation & Compositing is the first class of this term and it was actually pleasant. Typically the first class is a drag. We introduce ourselves and go through the motions, but not in this class. We started right into an assignment. This is what I can up with. This is composed of 5 other images and a lot color and contrast correction. Can you tell? Sometimes I feel that the moon landing could have been fake because of how easy it is to composite images together (K. Nevermind, there was no Photoshop around then).

Playing with long exposure....At least I think thats what I was doing. I found this one in the hundred or so I took, I thought I needed a cross lens to make those twinkles. Go Me. Hope I can do it again one day. lol
As with most of my abstracts, this started life as an original digital capture (mine), then received a good dose of PS and finally was printed on canvas
I didnt have anything to post so I stole some! Cheers.
Oh and Update on the Topsy turvy thing. I have small maters and I am having to give it about a gallon of water a day. It dries out fast.

I found this photoshop tutorial by example on how to create an inner glow effect on people. My result turned with a skin a bit too gray, bit indeed looks like glowing.
Posted the original photo too, just as comparison.

It's a bit of a riddle this one! What isit?? Well, it's a bit of Baffin Island seen from the plane on our trip to Canada, with water, rocks, snow on the heights...... then given the treatment.
Giuseppe Zucchini's acclaimed portrait of Sister Bertha della Punto, a 14th century nun who, in her zeal to burn heretics was herself horribly disfigured in the notorious "Night of the Burning Candles".incident of 1378 This further increased her single-minded obsession to rid the world of heresy and she became known in her locality as "Burning Bertha".
Zucchini painted this portrait in 1391. In his notes he says that he would have added more red to his palette "..for to warm it up, but I judged it was not to the Lady's taste...".

Loggers Yell Timber!! and golfers call Fore!. Doctors call Clear! before they defibrillate. Arborists yell Headache! before the big chunks drop, presumably warning you of what's in store if you don't see one of these babies coming.
Reminds me of that lame jape from when Vaudeville jokes could be just a line or two long: "I wondered why the baseball appeared to be growing larger. Then it hit me!"

a whole phlock o photos from two recent meanderings in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.
This Romantic treatment of a pair of ducks was made in Adobe Photoshop LightRoom, starting with a development preset, subsequently tweaked to taste.
Yes, Folks... same pair of leaves, this time without featuring the translucency. I used layers and blendings to get the luminosity and saturated colors in this one.. serendipitously "recovering" greens that were in the leaves a couple of months back, now.. see the actual current color, below.. as well as a black and white treated version.

This scene, featuring Sully the Westie, was meticulously illustrated pixel by pixel in Photoshop. Sully has Thalassophobia (fear of the ocean) and Isolophobia (fear of being alone). I know the waves look like a raster image, but they are not. I added filters to make it look more like water crashing.
Another from my Mom's garden. She took up the rest of her Dahlias for the season, and is dreaming what she'll do with them next year. Her garden has been very good for her, to hear her tell it.. a retired school teacher, she knows about tending and about seasons. She'll be turning to her ongoing work on her family's geneology, now that Winter is nigh.
I photographed these in a vase, with my off-camera flash bouncing light off nearby surfaces, for a soft directional wash, in hopes the little curls would be highlighted (highlit? lol). I took the image into Photoshop and not only applied the usual enhancements after converting from the RAW image capture, but also enhanced the tones/separation of those curls, too, so they would match my experience of them.
